End User of the product.

Programming your Power Positioning System correctly and safely depends upon your diligence in
following the warnings, cautions and information provided in this User Manual.
The symbols below are used throughout all Motion Concepts’ manuals to identify warnings, cautions

SCREEN DISPLAY:
When not in use, the screen display is designed to enter into sleep mode after 10 sec. in Standard mode
and after 120 sec. in Program mode ; Pressing any button on the remote will re-awaken the display.
EXIT/BACK BUTTON:
The exit/back button is utilized during Program Mode to return to the previous screen display, or to exit
at any stage during programming without saving your changes.
SELECT/SAVE BUTTON:
The select/save button is used in Program Mode to select (enter) the specific option/function you wish
to re-program, and is utilized to save your changes once programming is completed.
STANDARD MODE:
In Standard Mode the remote operates as an attendant control box using the Left/Right arrows to
cycle through the available motor functions on the power positioning system (PPS), and the Up/Down
arrows to operate the selected motor function.

LED INDICATOR:
The LED light is a visual signal as to the position/status of the power positioning system. The LED light
on remote box is designed to mirror the indicator lights on the 4-way and 8-way switch boxes:
Green Light = indicates that seating system is in the Home position;
Flashing Green = indicates that seating system is Out of Home;
Flashing Red = indicates that a TIlt/Recline and/or Elevating system is in Reduced Speed Drive;
Red Light = indicates the seating system is in Drive Lockout (DLO).

PROGRAM MODE:
In Program Mode, the remote functions as a hand-held programmer to allow qualified technicians
the flexibility to reconfigure the PPS to better meet the specific needs of the end user when necessary.
IMPORTANT! Program Mode on the M270 remote is password protected. Program access is restricted
to Qualified Technical Service personnel only. If you require any changes to your existing programming
configurations, please contact your local Dealer or Service Provider for assistance. (A summary of program
options is provided for reference in Section 2.1)

In Standard Mode the M270 remote operates as an attendant control box using the Left/Right arrows
to cycle through the available motor functions on the power positioning system (PPS), and the Up/Down
arrows to operate the selected motor function.

1.1 ATTENDANT CONTROL - OPERATING MOTOR FUNCTIONS
1. Use Left/Right arrows (1) to scroll through the available power positioning (motor) functions (i.e.
Tilt, Recline, Elevate, etc..).
Note: the remote will only display the power positioning functions that are available.
2. Select the desired motor function (in the screen display), then press and hold the Up/Down arrows (2)
and (3) to operate the actuator. The power positioning function and direction of travel will be indicated
on the display screen (See example below showing Tilt function).
1.2 ATTENDANT CONTROL - ADJUSTING MOTOR SPEED
1. Select the motor function (i.e.; Tilt, Recline, Legs, Elevate...) and direction
you wish to adjust.
2. To decrease the motor speed, press the Speed Down button (left) while
simultaneously pressing the motor function/direction button (1).
3. To increase the motor speed, press the Speed Up button (right) while
simultaneously pressing the motor function/direction button (2). Speed

Motor speeds may be adjusted independently while in attendant control (standard) mode. In
standard mode, the ‘Exit/Back’ and ‘Select/Save’ buttons function as ‘Speed Down’ and ‘Speed Up’
while operating a motor function.

2.1 PROGRAMMING OPTIONS (for Reference-Only)
IMPORTANT!
The programming of your Motion Concepts power positioning system using the M270 remote is
restricted to qualified Technical Service personnel only. Section 2.1 identifies the various programming
options available through the M270 remote. If you require programming changes beyond your
existing seating system set-up, please contact your local Dealer or Service Provider provider for further
assistance.

Service personnel only.

Incorrect programming could result in an unsafe wheelchair set-up.
Your qualified Dealer or Healthcare Professional is responsible to ensure that the seating system is set-up
properly and safely to meet your individual requirements; Always ensure that you are comfortable with all
safety and functional aspects of your power positioning system prior to use.

options, please contact your local Dealer or Service Provider for assistance.
2.0 PROGRAM MODE for the M270 REMOTE
2Note: the M270 software version is also indicated briefly on the display screen when the remote attendant
control is intially powered on.
PROGRAM OPTIONS1DESCRIPTION
Set Tipsy1Sets the wheelchair/seating system safety limits & lockout angles. Refer to Section 2.2-
Recommended Safety Limits
Set ATT SW1Configures the operation of the power positioning system (actuator motors) thru the
operator attendant switch.
Set Motor Type1
Sets the motor current for each actuator. Motor current settings are factory preset. Motion
Concept’s Technical Service Dept. must be contacted for authorization prior to reconfiguring
the motor current settings.
Set Config1‘On/Off’ settings for miscellaneous system features (e.g. R/L Display, Beep, Att Set, Ang
Disp, Tilt Lim, etc...)
Set ASM1
Configures the controls for operating the power positioning system through the Joystick, or
through a Specialty Control Device (e.g. Head Array, Sip N Puff, etc...)
(Note: ASM programming is not available with the M610Q Seat Control)
Set Actuator1Actuator functions may be individually programmed (i.e.; turned on and off). Actuator
functions are factory preset.
Get Version1,2
Indicates current software version of the M270. In order to properly diagnose any potential
issues, it may be necessary to identify the software version of the remote attendant
control.

Please refer to the following factory recommended limits/lockout angles:

REDUCED DRIVE SPEED Limit RDS Limit = 10° - 20° Max
DRIVE LOCKOUT (DLO) Limit1Max. DLO Limit = 30° (with Reduced Drive Speed)

2.2 RECOMMENDED SAFETY LIMITS
WARNING! Risk of system damage, serious injury or death
Your power positioning system should never exceed the recommended safety limits (see below). The angle
at which limits are set is critical to the safe operation of the power positioning system. Motion Concepts will
not be liable for any injuries or damage sustained when adjustments are made beyond the maximum recom-
mended safety limits.
If at any time your power positioning system/wheelchair is operating beyond the recommended safety limits,
or if you feel unstable at any time while operating your power positioning system, return the system to its stable
(home) position and contact your Dealer or Service Provider immediately for assistance and/or inspection.
