Foreword
RF Energy Exposure and Product Safety Guide for
Portable Two-Way Radios
Attention!
Before using this product, read the RF Energy Exposure and
Product Safety Guide that ships with the radio which contains
instructions for safe usage and RF energy awareness and control
for compliance with applicable standards and regulation.
Acoustic Safety
Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of
time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The
louder the volume of the radio, the less time is required before
your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise
is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a cumulative
effect. To protect your hearing:
• Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job.
• Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings.
• Turn down the volume before connecting headset or earpiece.
• Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpieces at high
volume.
• When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not
place the radio speaker directly against your ear.
Description
The PMLN6828 Tactical Throat Microphone is equipped with a
vibration-type bone conduction microphone to pick up voice at
the throat and a quick disconnect acoustic tube earpiece as a
speaker. Bone conduction microphone excels in its ability to
single out the voice of the speaker in a noisy environment and the
acoustic tube comes with optional noise attenuating plugs to
protect the eardrum in extreme noise environment.

Performance
To minimize interference and optimize performance of the Throat
Microphone, ensure that the accessory cable does not coil
around the radio antenna during use.
Operation
1. Always turn the radio OFF before
connecting the Throat Microphone.
2. Attach the Throat Microphone
connector to the Interface Module.
3. Insert the earpiece into the ear canal
and place the cable behind the ear as
shown in the picture. The earpiece
can be worn in the right or left ear.
4. Turn the radio ON.

Note: Once the kit has been installed, the radio microphone and
the radio speaker will be disabled. The user must use the
Throat Microphone to transmit and receive calls.
5. Always turn the radio OFF before disconnecting the kit.
6. Unscrew the accessory connector and remove from the
radio.

1. Insert the Throat Microphone connector into the accessory
terminal of interface module.
2. Securely tighten the waterproof ring.
Do not set the volume level too loud.

Note: Always ensure that the waterproof ring is securely tighten at
all times, if the ring is loose, waterproof function will be lost.
Detaching Throat Microphone from Interface Module
1. Loosen the waterproof ring.
2. Remove the Throat Microphone connector from the
accessory terminal of interface module.
Wearing the Throat Microphone
1. Wrap the Throat Microphone around the neck as shown in
the following figure. Adjust and position the bone conduction
microphone properly against the side of the throat to achieve
the pick-up efficiency of the microphone at its best.

2. Affix velcro to the velcro pad.
3. Insert earpiece into the ear canal.
4. Connect the cable plug to the interface accessory terminal.
5. Any vibration generated by touching or hitting the microphone
will be transmitted as noise along with the voice of the
sender. Please exercise caution.
6. The use of anti-noise ear muff is requested in extreme noise
environment.
Adjusting the Band
Length of the band can be adjusted to the comfort of the user as
shown in the following figure.

Removing the Velcro
Velcro can be detached if not needed by performing the following
steps.
1. Remove the microphone cover by unscrewing the screws.
2. Unscrew the fixed screw on velcro and remove the velcro.
3. Put back the microphone cover and fasten it with a fixed
screw.
Disconnecting the Translucent Tube
Rotate the quick disconnect acoustic tube about 90º and release
it from the audio tube adapter.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the accessory, especially the ear tube and ear tip by:
• washing periodically with a mild liquid soap and rinsing with
water.
• wiping off each used part that touched the ear with a tissue.
• keeping canal free and clear of wax.

Important: For hygienic reasons, do not return any items once
the package seal is broken.
Note: It is recommended to replace the translucent tube every six
months or less for hygienic reasons.

Sécurité Acoustique
Une exposition à des bruits forts en provenance de n'importe
quelle source pendant de longues périodes de temps pourrait
affecter votre audition de manière temporaire ou permanente.
Plus le volume sonore de la radio est élevé, plus votre audition
peut se détériorer rapidement. Des dommages auditifs dus à
l'exposition à des bruits forts peuvent d'abord être indétectables,
mais ceux-ci ont parfois des effets cumulatifs. Pour protéger votre
audition :
• Réglez le volume le plus bas possible pour effectuer votre
travail.
• N'augmentez le volume que si vous vous trouvez dans un
environnement bruyant.
• Réduisez le volume avant d'ajouter un casque ou un écouteur.
• Limitez la période de temps d'utilisation de casques ou
d'écouteurs à volume élevé.
• Lorsque vous utilisez la radio sans casque ni écouteur, ne
placez pas le haut-parleur directement sur votre oreille.

Description
Le laryngophone tactique PMLN6828 est équipé d'un ostéophone
de type vibration pour capter la voix au niveau de la gorge et d'un
tube acoustique à déconnexion rapide en tant que haut-parleur.
L'ostéophone excelle dans sa capacité à isoler la voix du locuteur
dans un environnement bruyant et le tube acoustique comporte
des boutons d'atténuation en option pour protéger le tympan en
environnement extrêmement bruyant.
Gestion
Pour réduire les interférences et optimiser les performances du
laryngophone, assurez-vous que le câble de l'accessoire ne
s'enroule pas autour de l'antenne de la radio pendant l'utilisation.

Opération
1. Mettez toujours la radio hors
tension avant de brancher le
laryngophone.
2. Fixez le connecteur du laryngophone
au module d'interface.
3. Insérez l'écouteur dans le canal
auditif et placez le câble derrière
l'oreille comme indiqué sur l'image.
L'écouteur peut être porté dans
l'oreille droite ou gauche.
4. Allumez la radio.
Remarque : Une fois l'ensemble installé, le microphone et le
haut-parleur de la radio seront désactivés.
L'utilisateur doit utiliser le laryngophone pour
émettre et recevoir des appels.
5. Éteignez toujours la radio avant de débrancher l'ensemble.
6. Dévissez le connecteur de l'accessoire et retirez-le de la
radio.
Précaution
Ne pas régler le volume trop fort.

Emplacement pour fixer le laryngophone au
module d'interface
Fixation du laryngophone au module d'interface
1. Insérez le connecteur du laryngophone dans la borne pour
accessoire du module d'interface.
2. Serrez fermement le joint étanche.
Remarque : Assurez-vous que le joint étanche est bien serré en
tout temps. S'il se relâche, la fonction d'étanchéité
sera perdue.
Retrait du laryngophone du module d'interface
1. Desserrez la bague étanche.
2. Retirez le connecteur du laryngophone de la borne pour
accessoire du module d'interface.

Port du laryngophone
1. Enroulez le laryngophone autour du cou comme indiqué dans
la figure suivante. Ajustez et positionnez l'ostéophone
correctement contre le côté de la gorge pour assurer
l'efficacité maximale du microphone.
2. Apposez le velcro à la bande velcro.
3. Insérez l'écouteur dans le conduit auditif.
4. Branchez la prise du câble à la borne de l'accessoire
d'interface.
5. Les vibrations générées en touchant ou heurtant le
microphone seront transmises sous forme de bruit avec la
voix de l'expéditeur. Veuillez faire preuve de prudence.

6. L'utilisation de cache-oreilles antibruit est requise en
environnement à bruit extrême.

Le velcro peut être détaché s'il n'est pas requis en suivant la
procédure ci-dessous.
1. Retirez le couvercle du microphone en dévissant les vis.
2. Dévissez les vis fixe du velcro et retirez le velcro.
3. Remettez le couvercle du microphone et fixez-le avec une vis
fixe.
Débranchement du tube translucide
Faites pivoter le tube acoustique à déconnexion rapide
d'environ 90° et retirez-le de l'adaptateur du tube audio.
Entretien et maintenance
Nettoyez l'accessoire, notamment le tube et l'embout destinés à
être insérés dans l'oreille en :
• les lavant régulièrement à l'aide de savon liquide doux et en
rinçant à l'eau;
• essuyant à l'aide d'un mouchoir chaque pièce étant entrée en
contact avec l'oreille;
• vous assurant que le canal est parfaitement dégagé.
Important : Pour des raisons d'hygiène, nous vous demandons
de ne retourner aucun élément dont l'emballage a
été ouvert.
Remarque : Pour des raisons d'hygiène, il est recommandé de
remplacer le tube acoustique tous les 6 mois ou plus
souvent.
