How to Troubleshoot Wireless Access (Wi-Fi) on the Qwest® Premium Networking
Modem: Motorola® 3347
Internet Service Provider (ISP):
All
Use this document if:
You want to change one or more of the following settings to troubleshoot your Qwest Premium
Networking Modem: Motorola 3347 for wireless issues:
1. Reset your modem to factory defaults (Step 1)
2. Reprogram your modem (Step 5)
3. Change your SSID or Network Name (Step 11)
4. Change your Security Key (Step 12)
5. Change the Wireless Channel (Step 16)
This document assumes:
That you have your PPP username and password that was provided by your Internet
Service Provider (ISP). Click here to look up your ISP’s contact information.
Your computer is directly connected to the modem using an Ethernet cable.
The Qwest Premium Networking Modem: Motorola 3347 is powered on.

1. Open a web browser, type 192.168.0.1, and press enter.
2. Select Advanced Setup from the left column.

3. Select Reset Router from the left column.
4. Select Yes, reset to factory settings.

5. After your modem has rebooted, select Quick Setup from the left column.
6. Select PPP over Ethernet LLC/SNAP.
7. Enter the PPP username and password that was provided to you by your Internet Service
Provider (ISP).

8. Complete the next steps according to your ISP’s instructions, then select Save Changes.
Listed below are the most common settings.
9. After your modem has rebooted, select Wireless from the left column.

10. Check the Enable Wireless box.
11. Your default SSID is already selected and will show next to ‘Wireless ID (SSID)’. This is the
name of the wireless network. You can change it (remember: SSID’s are cAsE sEnSiTiVe.)
or leave it the same.
12. Next, select WEP-Manual from the ‘Privacy’ dropdown.

13. Next to ‘Encryption Key #1’ is your default WEP Security Key. This is the security key that
will need to be entered when connecting to the wireless network. You can either use the
Default WEP Security Key, or if you would like to use your own customized WEP security
key, delete the default key and type in 26 characters. Only use characters A-F or any
number from 0-9
Then, select Save Changes.
14. Select Yes when prompted to restart your router. The modem will then take a few minutes to
reboot.

15. These are the steps for changing the wireless channel your modem transmits on. Select
Wireless from the left column.
16. Select the Advanced Configuration Options arrow.
17. Select OFF-Use default from the ‘AutoChannel Setting’ dropdown.

18. The primary channels are 1, 6, and 11. Once you have selected a channel from the ‘Default
Channel’ dropdown, select Save Changes. Select Yes when prompted to restart your router.
The modem will then take a few minutes to reboot. Wireless equipment like 2.4GHz cordless
phones, wireless security cameras, and wireless baby monitors can interfere with your
wireless internet.
19. Select Yes when prompted to restart your router. The modem will then take a few minutes to
reboot.
20. You can now attempt to connect to the wireless signal being transmitted by your Qwest
Premium Networking Modem: Motorola 3347.
