Preface
Thank you for buying the MRC model MCX-5000 series Auto-Exchanger system.
To ensure that your equipment provides optimum satisfaction and service, please read this manual
carefully before attempting to operate the MCX-5000 Series.
We recommend that you store the manual carefully for future reference.
Important
On the Auto-Exchanger equipment, we use inboard communication at desired position and interface
satcom, mobil-phone, shore telephone system (in case of necessity). If we are not handled correctly,
could present danger to yourself or others property,
These warnings and notes are classified as described below.
Please be fully aware of the importance of these items when using this manual.
Cautions indicate items that, if ignored, may result in personal injury or physical damage.
Notes on using the MCX-5000 series
1. Do not dismantle the system. : Failure to observe these cautions may result in electric shock or
damage to the in-external equipment. Please contact to your authorized MRC dealer for maintenance,
inspections, and adjustments.
2. Regular check: Must be need a regular check of operator at least once a semiannually and maker or
guaranteed engineer for safety using of the system.
3. Observe the instruction in this manual for correct operation of the PA system.
4. To prevent moisture and foreign materials entering your system, do not place objects on your one.

2 General
1.1 Planning
The installation should be planned in details before commencing. The cables should be listed in a cable
plan, with number of pairs etc. The location of each unit in the communication system should be
planned to obtain maximum performance and user availability.
1.2 Power
The operating power is 220VAC 60Hz as primary, and 24VDC as backup. With automatic switching
between primary and secondary power source.
1.3 Marking
Each cable is to be marked with cable numbers.
Each conductor is to be marked with the specific termination numbers.
Please note that MRC uses plug-able screw terminals in all units.
1.4 Fastening
Where applicable, the cables and the conductors shall be clamped to the structure with cable ties.
1.5 Preservation
Prior to, during, and after installation the equipment must be handled with care. And protected against
acid holding fluids, pollution, moist, impacts etc.
This is in order to avoid damaged equipment, for which MRC will claim void warranty.
1.6 Cable Requirements
All cables used in the MCX system must be of approved ship cable type.
Requirements:
- Common outer screen
- Individually twisted pairs
- Recommended conductor size is 0.75 mm²
- All cabling in the MCX must be a separate network.
- Do not combine different systems in the same cable. This is to prevent disturbance and noise
caused by interference.
1.7 Screen Connection
In order to obtain maximum
performance after installation, it is
necessary to terminate the cables
ground the screens in a good
manner.
The cables are to de-isolated by
removing approximately 200
mm of the outer insulation.
Then the screen braid is cut off
approximately 30 mm longer than
the outer
isolation. The conductors are to be
de-isolated and ferruled before
they are inserted into the terminals.
The outer screen is clamped to the
cable fixing rails inside the cabinet.
Cable ties of a conductive type
(metal) are recommended for best
result. The cable outer screens are
to be terminated as shown. Conductive type of cable ties is
recommended to obtain best possible screen connections.

2.9 Connection diagram among I.S. barrier box (BB-922), telephones and peripheral devices.
This telephone system is designed for intrinsically safe construction and proper ignition grade(IIC
T6) so that it can be communicated in hazardous area where gas can be exploded.
In order to be intrinsically safe, energy and energy storage must be constrained to “safe” levels in
hazardous area apparatus. Wiring inherently has capacitance formed by a dielectric material between
two conductors.
2.9.1 Wiring concept diagram
2.9.2 Detail connection wiring of the I.S. telephone
The A/T barrier box BB-922 is placed in a non-hazardous area up to one 300-meter from the phone,
limiting the energy levels going to the hazardous area to conform to intrinsically-safe requirements.
Where multiple I.S. telephone wires are routed together, shielded cable should be used. The use of
shielded cable prevents cross-talk from occurring between multiple I.S. telephone circuits. The shield
must be grounded to an I.S. ground and connected only at the barrier box.
Typical intrinsically-safe installation
