4. MATERIALSELECTION
4.1 Press the "Power Key 3-4" to turn onthe unit.
4.2 Press the Material"Selection Key 3-5" andthe
"Display3-2"willshow the code "cdxx" . rcd" is
the abbreviation for "code" and "xx" isone
number among 01-11. The "cdxx"-material
relationship isas follow.

4.3 Press the "Plus Key 3-6" or "Minus Key 3-9" to
select the materialcode to measure and then
press the Material Selection keyto confirm.
The displaywillshow"0". Ifyou select a
material code butdonot confirm the selection,
the codewillautomaticallychange to"0" after
severalseconds. In suchcase, the meter will
stillreserve the materialcodebeforeexiting.
4.4 Itis unnecessary to select the materialcode
once the materialcode is confirmed
(automatically stored tothe memory ofthe
meter) unless the material to measure is
different fromthatbefore.
4.5 To browse the material code selected, if only
press the "Select Key 3-5". To quitbrowsing, if
onlypress the "Select Key 3-5" again or wait till
the codeautomaticallychange to"0" after
severalseconds orthe meter wjll automatically
quit to measurementstate if measuring.
5. CALIBRATION
5.1 Drop a little oilonthe5 mm "StandardBlock
3-12".
5.2 Press the "Calibration Key 3-8", the "CAL" be
shown onthe Display."CAL" isthe short for
calibration.
5.3 Press the "Sensor3-7" onthe standardblock.
The couplingsymbol "«•»" isonif couplingwell.
"5.0" mm(or "0.198"inch) and "CAL"will be
shown onthe Display in turn.Whensteady,
press "CAL Key 3-8" to confirm and then the unit
return tothe state of measurement.
5.4 The calibrationresultwill be auto-saved tothe
unitonceconfirmation. Itis unnecessary to
calibrateoftenunless you suspect the accuracy
of measurement
6. MEASURINGPROCEDURE
6.1 Press the "Power Key 3-4" to turn onthe unit.
6.2 Press the "mm/inch Key 3-3" to select the right
measurementunit.
6.3 Press the "Sensor3-7"onto the material
surface to measure onthe premise that the
materialcodeselected is right. Be surethat
coupling is well andthe "Symbol «•» 3-11" ison.
The reading on display isthe measurement
value.
6.4The reading is held till a new measurement
value is coming. The last value is held onthe
display till the power is off.
6.5 There are2 modes to turn offthe power, i.e.
Manual offatany time by pressing the power
key or Autopower off afterabout 2 minutesfrom
last key operation.
7. MEASURING BY VELOCITYSETTING
7.1 Press the "VEL Key 3-13" andthe display
shows the velocity set lasttime.
7.2Howto measure its thickness bythe velocity
known ?
The velocity canbe changed by pressing the
"PlusKey" or "Minuskey" tothe value of known
velocity. The increment is 10m/severytime at
first whenpressing the plus or "MinusKey".
And the increment is 100m/s if depressing the
key for morethanabout 4 seconds.
7.3 Drop a little oil onto the material to measure
and press the "Sensor3-7"onto the surface.

The reading onthe display isthe thickness if
couplingwell. Soifwe haveknown the velocity
ofa certainmaterial, itis easy to measure the
thickness by 7.2.
7.4 Howto measure the thickness bya sample of
known thickness?
Just geta sample of knownthickness.Then
repeat 7.2and7.3 till the measurementvalue is
totally same asthe known thickness. In such a
case, theset value isthe velocity ofthe material
to measure, by which youcan measure any
unknownthickness of same material.
7.5 To browse the velocity, if onlypress the "VEL
Key 3-13". To quit browsing, if only press the
"VEL Key 3-13"again or wait till the meter
automaticallyshow"0".
7.6 Byuseof velocitymeasurement, itis easy to
measure the thickness ofany hardmaterials.
8. BATTERYREPLACEMENT *
8.1 When the batterysymbolappears onthe
display, itis time to replace the batteries.
8.2 Slide the BatteryCoverawayfrom the
instrument and remove the batteries.
8.3 Install batteries paying careful attention to
polarity.
8.4 Installbatteriespayingcarefulattention to
polarity.
