SPECTRO-UV600 Overview
SPECTRO-UV600 series is a double-beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer developped by
us and consists of three models (SPECTRO-UV690/UV670/UV650). SPECTRO-UV600
which performs qualitative, quantitative or structral analysis of material according to
the selected absorption of the light within a certain wavelength range by the
molecule or ion of the material, is mainly used in pharmacy, medical health,
chemistry, environmental protection, geology and teaching.
Main features:
Double-beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Through the reference light path, the
influence of light source fluctuation can be effectively reduced.
Use deuterium lamp and tungsten lamp as light source to provide 190nm to
900nm wavelength. The lamp interchange is realized through the rotation of the
condenser lens driven by the step motor.
Set the lamp interchange wavelength via the Ultra UV software and the range is
from 320nm to 380nm.
SPECTRO-UV690 and SPECTRO-UV670 provide 6 bandwidth options
(0.1nm/0.2nm/0.5nm/1nm/2nm/4nm) for your various measurement
requirements.
SPECTRO-UV690 is configured with double monochromators to effectively
reduce the stray light.
Use plane diffraction grating with high resolution as the monochromator grating.
The main monochromator of SPECTRO-UV690 is driven by the lead screw
structure, thus providing high precision.
Use chopper mirror for light splitting. The sample light path and the reference
light path are all complete and the light energy is high. Driven by the motor, the
chopper mirror transmits the sample light beam and the reference light beam
into the sample compartment and receiving compartment separately, thus only
one receiver is required and the measurement error due to the difference in
receiver nature can be excluded.
Use cuvette with variable optical path lengths as the sample cell. Glass cuvette
and quartz cuvette are available.
Configured with single cell. You can purchase the 8-series cell (option) to
measure multiple samples in one measurement.
Use photomultiplier with high sensitivity as the reciever.
Low stray light to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the measurement.
Provide up to ±0.3nm wavelength accuracy and 0.1nm wavelength repeatability.

SPECTRO-UV600 SERIES User’s Guide
VII
Provide high photometric accuracy and photometric repeatability.
Provide good baseline flatness and baseline drift as well as low photometric
noise.
Various standard interfaces: RS232, LAN and USB Device.
Configured with Ultra UV software to easily control SPECTRO-UV600. Provide
various measurements including spectral measurement, kinetic measurement,
photometric measurement and quantitative measurement. Besides, the software
also supports report template editing, log record function, management and
GLP mode.
The components of the instrument are independent and can be dissembled
separately.

SPECTRO-UV600 SERIES User’s Guide
1-9
Light Source Compartment
It mainly consists of the deuterium lamp, tungsten lamp and condenser lens 1 and
provides compound light with 190nm to 900nm wavelength. Wherein, the deuterium
lamp provides compound light with 190nm to 400nm wavelength and the tungsten
lamp provides compound light with 400nm to 900nm wavelength.
Condenser lens 1 is driven by the step motor to realize the interchange between the
deuterium lamp and tungsten lamp. Users can set the interchange wavelength via the
Ultra UV software and the range available is from 320nm to 380nm (for details, please
refer to the Ultra UV User’s Guide).
The converging light going out of the light source compartment is focused on the light
diaphragm and then is focused on the entrance slit of the monochromator through
condenser lens 2.
Optical Filter Set
The optical filter set is mainly used to filter out the stray light and the multi-stage
spectrum of the grating.
SPECTRO-UV600 provides 5 optical filter positions (wherein, the first is blank scale
and do not contain optical filter) covering light source with 190nm to 900nm
wavelength.
The optical filters are distributed on the optical filter plate which is driven by the step
motor to realize optical filter interchange, thus selecting different filter range to
remove the stray light.
The filter ranges of the 5 optical filters:
Blank: 190nm to 305nm
Purple: 305nm to 370nm
Blue: 370nm to 550nm
Green: 550nm to 700nm
Black: 700nm to 900nm

Chapter 1 Quick Start
SPECTRO-UV600 SERIES User’s Guide
1-10
Monochromator
The main use of the monochromator is to convert compound light into monochromatic
light. The monochromator mainly consists of the entrance slit, exit slit, collimating
mirror, plane grating and condenser lens.
The main function of each component is as follows:
Entrance slit and exit slit: limit the bandwidth. The variable slit set provides
different bandwidth options;
Collimating mirror: convert the diverging light from the entrance slit to parallel light;
Plane grating: convert the compound light to monochromatic lights and emit them
at different angles. The rotation angle of the grating corresponds to the wavelength;
Condenser lens: convert the parallel light to converging light and focus it to the exit
slit.
SPECTRO-UV690 is configured with 2 monochromators (the pre-monochromator and
the main monochromator). Wherein, the pre-monochromator consists of condenser
lens 2, condenser lens 3 and pre-monochromator grating; the main monochromator
consists of the entrance slit, collimating mirror, main monochromator grating,
condenser lens 4 and exit slit. The pre-monochromator is driven by the step motor
while the main monochromator is driven by the lead screw to select the emergent
light wavelength.
SPECTRO-UV670 and SPECTRO-UV650 are configured with a monochromator
consisting of the entrance slit, collimating mirror, grating, condenser lens 3 and exit
slit. The grating is driven by the step motor to select the emergent light wavelength.
Note: compared to SPECTRO-UV670 and SPECTRO-UV650, SPECTRO-UV690 is
configured with one more monochromator to reduce the stray light.
At the entrance and exit of the monochromator are the entrance slit and exit slit.
SPECTRO-UV690 and SPECTRO-UV670 provide 6 bandwidth options (include 0.1nm,
0.2nm, 0.5nm, 1nm, 2nm and 4nm); while the bandwidth of SPECTRO-UV650 is fixed
at 2nm.
