MSA 4x4 Dropslide User manual

Congratulations on your purchase of a quality MSA 4x4 Dropslide. Please follow these instructions to ensure that your new
Dropslide is installed properly.
Dropslide Handle must be installed prior to slide installation.
1. Using an Allen key (supplied) ensure 6mm bolt is tight on both lever arms and remove Nylock nut and steel washer from outside of bolt (fig 1.). Leave 6mm
brass washer on bolt on the outside of the lever arms (fig 2.).
Fig 1.
Fig 2.
2. Place one side of handle over 6mm bolt and then, pushing lever arms together, place other side over 6mm bolt (fig 3.). ** PLEASE NOTE: you will notice that
the handle arms have a curve. Install the handle so that when the handle is lowered, the curve goes down. Install steel washer on the outside (fig 4.). Install
6mm Nylock nut (fig 5.). Holding the 6mm bolt with the Allen key on one side, tighten the Nylock nut (fig 6.).

SLIDE INSTALLATION
1. Place slide in position on top of shelving unit no more than 90mm back from front edge of mounting surface. This is a basic guide measurement and will
depend on particular application.
2. Unlock slide and open approx 150mm.
3. Install 4 of the self tapping mounting screws (supplied) across rear edge setback. Recommended screws - 10 gauge x 20mm long Button Head.
4. Extend slide slightly and install all other screws/bolts/fasteners starting from the rear and moving forward. If slide operation is not smooth loosen screws
slightly.
5. As an alternative to self tapping screws, nuts and bolts can be used.
6. When all screws are in place slide installation is complete.
7. Do not operate or put weight on slide until all screws are fixed.
8. Lower platform slowly by pushing down firmly on rear section of fridge tray and ensure the handle and lever system clears any doors, this will take
reasonable pressure as there is no weight on platform.
FRIDGE INSTALLATION
DO NOT USE TURN BUCKLES TO TIE DOWN FRIDGES. 25mm TIE DOWN STRAPS ARE RECOMMENDED
1. Slide Platform out and push down - this will take some downward pressure as gas struts are designed for weight to be loaded
FOR ENGEL FRIDGES
1. Remove fridge feet and place feet over matching 4 holes on platform. Place fridge over feet and using the longer 8mm screws, flat and

spring washers supplied, insert screws from underneath platform (see FIG 8). NOTE: These screws are for fridge location only.
25m tie down straps are still required.fig 8.
Fig 8.
2. For Engel fridges remove handle from fridge and install 2 x clip / tie down brackets (black plastic clips are to the centre, screws on
outside - fig 9.) and use the longer 4mm screws supplied and larger washers supplied. NOTE: Fridge handle will need to be turned upside down.

Fig 9.
FOR WAECO FRIDGES: Holes have been provided in the platform to mount WAECO universal fixing kit. 25mm tie down straps are still required.
1. Fitting of the supplied handle clip on Waeco Fridges is the same process as for the Engel Fridges above (fig 9.) and using the larger washers supplied.
Adjust height of clip to suit handle height and then tighten all screws. The fridge handle is used as the tie down point.
FOR ALL OTHER FRIDGES, toolboxes and generators there is a separate handle clip assembly brackets available. These brackets, (Part No. HB1)
mount the handle clips to the lever arms instead of the fridge itself. You will notice the mount holes just behind the Dropslides handle pivot point. With these
brackets, only tie down straps attach to the fridge.

Now install the tie-down strap bracket with 8mm nuts and bolts supplied into the front section of the Dropslide fridge tray. The bracket needs to be located with
the rubber bumpers against the fridge. Tighten both bolts.
FITTING TIE DOWN STRAPS
DO NOT USE TURN BUCKLES TO TIE DOWN FRIDGES. 25mm TIE DOWN STRAPS ARE RECOMMENDED
Front straps are fitted by either using the loops in the tie down bracket fitted (as above) or alternately using the holes in the front face of the Dropslide fridge
tray, (depending on fridge or device mounted into the Dropslide).
1. Push straps through holes in fridge cradle or tie down bracket and pull up to fridge handle. Loop through handle and back down to clasp on tie
down. Fasten and tension down tightly.
2. At rear of fridge, push straps through holes in fridge cradle and then up and over the rear handle on the fridge. Fasten through clasp and tension.
POWER CORDS
Ensure power cords are tied out of way of all mechanisms. Cable ties are supplied in the Dropslide kit. Usually run power cable up and cable tie to the fridge
handles and then, on fridges with rear power points, loop over to the mount point of the gas strut allowing enough slack for when the fridge tray drops. The
power cable can then be run down the outside of the Dropslide frame to your power outlet.
For other fridges simply run the power cables where they will not interfere with the operation of the Dropslide or become caught and damaged in moving parts.
OPERATION
Please Note: It is recommended that the lock on the slide is key locked while in transit.
1. Place key in lock and unlock key lock by turning anti-clockwise (handle on lock is in vertical position).
2. Unclip handle and fold all the way down, remembering the curve on the handle should curve downwards.
3. Place downward pressure on handle while pulling slide cradle out towards yourself (DO NOT RELEASE DOWNWARD PRESSURE).
4. When slide is at full extension, slowly release downward pressure on handle. This allows the slide platform to drop. At the same time the handle will be
raised. Please do first operation very slow to ensure that raising handle does not come in contact with any vehicle doors, etc.
5. Platform will drop as far as bump stops on slide or rest on tailgate. It is now completely in the lowered position and handle can be folded to the rear for
opening of fridge lid.
6. To raise slide platform, reach up to handle and pull down towards the front.
7. Pull down until handle stops. While maintaining downward pressure, slide platform into closed position/
8. Ensure when raising platform LOCK IS IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION. (If lock is in horizontal closed position when platform is pushed back, damage

to lock WILL occur.) When slide stops, twist key lock clockwise to lock position (lock with key if needed).
9. Fold handle up to the clips and push into retaining clips to secure for transport.
NOTE: When Dropslide is new, tolerances on slide are tight & will loosen with use. Slide may need some upward handle
pressure to drop with empty fridge.
MAINTENANCE
- Please ensure slide runners remain free from dirt, grit & water. Clean regularly & spray with Innox Plus MX5
- Please check the Dropslide tray does not have any forward or backward movement. This can cause failure of the key lock
assembly.
To check and adjust, make sure the Dropslide is in the stowed and locked position. Grabbing the front of the fridge tray, pull the tray forwards and backwards. If
there is any movement or "clicking", then unlock the fridge tray and slide forward enough to gain access to the rear of the slide runners.
Looking at the back end of the slide runners you will notice a small black moulded rubber bump that, when the runner is closed, goes up against a metal tab
bent at right angles. Using a shifting spanner, slightly bend this tab forward. You must also do the same adjustment to the other runner as well.
Lock the fridge tray off again and pull it forwards and backwards again. You should notice the movement has gone or is at least reduced. If movement is not
fully gone, repeat above steps until no movement or "clicking".
