The NAV-502FHDi requiresa Micro SD card (not included) to record video / image
cont ent . (see page 9 for a table showing SD card capacity and the relevant amount of

Power on/ off funct ion ( aut o on/ off )
To t ur n o n t he NAV-502FHDi, press the power button on the side of the device. To
turn off, pressthesamepower button.
When connect ed t o t he 12v DCsocket (cigaret t e socket ) of your car, t he NAV-
502FHDi will turn on and off automatically when the car’s ignition is turned on or off.
If the NAV-502FHDi does not turn off immediately it means the device is complet ing
the file save process before turning off (usually only a few seconds).
If the 12v socket is “ constant on” (in some European vehicles), then the NAV-
502FHDi will need to be turned on/off manually by the power button.
Whilst connect ed t o t he car’s12VDCsocket (or from a powered USB hub or PCUSB
port) theLED indicator will glow red (battery ischarging) and will be off once the
battery is fully charged.
Aut o Record when turned on
When t he NAV-502FHDI is turned on (either by pressing the power button or auto
on) the device will aut omat ically begin recording. To st op r ecor di ng, pr ess t he OK
button or disconnect the power cable.
Installation on the car windscreen
The NAV-502FHDI works best when mounted centrally and high up on the
windscreen (typically behind or close to the rear vision mirror). Use t he supplied
windscreen suction mount to affix the NAV-502FHDi to the windscreen and then
adjust t he mount until you can see a clear view of the road ahead on the LCD.
Recordi ng
Tur n on t he NAV-502FHDI. Recording shoul d st art aut omat ically. If not press the
“OK” button. When recording, the red timeswill appear in the LCD and a red Dot on
theLED w i l l f l ash. The recorded file is saved onto theMicro SDHCCard. Stop
recording by either pressing theOK button or turningthecar ignition off (stopping
power to the device)
In the event of an incident / accident – ST OP t h e Re co r d i n g.
- Due to the “cyclerecording” nature of thistechnology, older recorded fileswill be overwritten (dependingon
the chosen resolution settingsand the memorycapacityof the Micro SDcard). For examplea 2GBSDcar d at
HD resolut ion wi ll onl y of f er you 20 mi nut es of record time before the files (2 or 5 or 15min sizes) st art t o get
overwritten

USB Connection
Co n n e ct theNAV-502FHDI to a Windows(XPor 7) PCwith theUSB cable (included). The LCD
scr een wi l l di spl ay M ASS STORAGE and PC CAM ERA. Sel ect M ASS STORAGE. M ASS STORAGE w i l l
then appear on the screen. Under “ My computer” or “WindowsExplorer” you should see a
drive which will resemble a “Removable Disk (?:)” (like a USB Flash drive or Hard drive).
Re co r d e d f iles are st ored in theDCIM\Dat e\ folder, and thefiles are named as [PI CT* * * * .
AVI for video or PICT***.JPGfor still images. These files can be played back using Windows
Mediaplayer or a compatible .avi media player or an image viewer (for images)
Note:
1) A Micro SDHCcard must be inserted into the device before recording.
2) The NAV-502FHDI support s cycle recording in increments of 3/ 5/ 10 minutes. It will
overwrite the oldest video files with new ones. Depending on the size of the Micro SDHC
card and t he speed rat ing of t he card, t here may be as much as a 3 second pause time whilst
old files are overwritten with the newer files. Th is pause time will not be recorded.
3) As the NAV-502FHDI has a DC5V input , pl ease use theoriginal car charger which will st ep
down the car’s 12/24VDC to 5VDC and f use thecircuit in the event of an overload.

•The above wiring diagram shows a left hand drive vehicle. Wiring path is
only a suggestion.
1. NAV-502FHDi device mounted behind the rear vision mirror.
2. 12v DC cable routed behind rear vision mirror
3. Cable hidden behind roof headlining
4. Cable hidden behind “A” pillar – beware of airbag equipped cars
5. Cable is routed beside the dashboard / near the door hinges
6. Cable is passed under the passenger carpet (or under the dashboard)
7. 12v DC plug is connected to the car’s 12v “cigarette socket”.
Once the wiring and installation of the NAV-502FHDi have been completed, please check t he
following:
- Wit h t he car’s ignition on (or engine st art ed), thered LED i n di cat or on the NAV-502FHDi will light up and t he
LCD scr een shoul d t ur n on. Recor di ng shoul d st ar t aut omat i cal l y. Thi s wi l l indicate a successful installation –
- When t he car’s ignition is t urned off, t he device should t urn off wit hin 20 seconds. If t his doesn’t happen then
power is still being suppli ed t o t he car ’s 12v socket and t he devi ce wil l need t o be swi t ched of f manual ly.
