1. INSTALLATION
1.1. EXTERIOR UNIT MOUNTING
The exterior unit is designed to be installed on top
of an electrical mounng box with a dimension of Ø
60 mm. It is recommended that the exterior unit be
mounted at a height of 150 cm. The average user
will nd it easy to swipe their nger over the sensor
at this height.
The exterior unit should be protected from rain and
should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
1.2. INTERIOR UNIT MOUNTING
The interior unit ts on the DIN rail in a fuse box
and occupies four fuse spots.
Installaon should be performed by a qualied
person.
2. FIRST START UP
Communicaon between the exterior and interior
unit is protected by a unique code, which is pre-set
for each device individually. When the interior and
exterior units are connected to the power supply
and the communicaon link is established, the
orange and red LED will ash and the buzzer will
buzz simultaneously. In this period, the connecon
is established and when the orange LED starts to
shine connuously, the device is ready to be used.
When the orange LED shines the device is in frees
can mode, waing for a nger to be swiped over
it. Aer performing any of the funcons the device
returns to the free scan mode.
2.1. APPLICATION DOWNLOAD
The ARX-manager is managed by a mobile phone
of a newer generaon or a laptop computer,

4
ENG
manager
hereinaer referred to as a portable device.
Before the rst use, it is necessary to upload the
applicaon “ARX-manager SW” on your portable
device. You can download it from our website www.
arx.si . Simply connect yourself to our website with
your portable device and download the le that
ts your device and conrm the installaon. The
applicaon detects the language used on your
phone and automacally sets itself to the same
language. If the language is not recognised, it sets
itself to English.
2.2. CONNECTING TO THE DEVICE
Once you have downloaded the ARX-manager SW
applicaon on your portable device, you can connect
to the device. To do this, start the applicaon on your
mobile device and run the funcon search for device
in the menu. This process can take several minutes.
When your portable device nds the device ARX-
manager, start the pairing process and allow the
automac connecon.
Any subsequent connecon process will be faster
because the phone remembers the paired device. If
there has not been a ngerprint in the device yet,
the connecon will be established immediately and
an administrator will have to be enrolled rst. Later,
the device will request the administrator to swipe
their nger in order to establish the connecon.
Once you have connected to the ARX-manager, the
applicaon on your mobile device will open with a
list of users and administrators already enrolled.
3. DEVICE MANAGEMENT
3.1. PROPER USE
The thermal sensor used in the ARX-manager enables
excellent ngerprint scanning in any condions and
simultaneously minimizes the chances of misuse.
Nevertheless, every technology needs to be used
according to its specicaons, so the correct usage
of the thermal sensor is described in the following
secon. With a lile pracce, you will quickly learn
to swipe your nger correctly.
VERTICAL POSITION OF THE FINGER ON THE SENSOR:
In order to get a high quality ngerprint image, the
nger must be swiped over the sensor in a straight
vercal line. Therefore, the ARX-manager is designed
with a concaved central part to actually force the
nger into a vercally straight swipe. The ridge that
runs in the middle of the concaved part helps to
direct the nger into the right posion even when
there is no much light. It is also very helpful for blind
or poor-sighted people.
FINGERPRINT AREA ON SCANNING:
It is essenal to swipe the largest possible area of
the ngerprint over the sensor. It is also important
to press the nger as close as possible to the surface
of the ngerprint reader. A bigger ngerprint area
prevents idencaon and enrolment failure. This
is especially important during the enrolment phase
in the database. With a high quality enrolled image,
excellent idencaon is assured.
SWIPING SPEED:
The ideal swiping speed over the sensor is 15 cm/s.
If the nger is swiped too slow or too fast, the
ARX-manager will not react. Successful ngerprint
enrolment or idencaon is audibly indicated by a
buzz, so it is good to pay aenon to it.

3.2. ADMINISTRATOR’S ROLE AND ENROLMENT
An administrator is a person who has the exclusive
right to add and delete users. The number
of administrators in the ARX-manager is not
limited. The exisng administrator can determine
who will have the administrator status and who
the user status. Each administrator has access to all
sengs in the device and can add new users and
administrators or delete them.
ADMINISTRATOR’S FIRST FINGERPRINT
ENROLMENT PROCEDURE:
Connect your mobile device to the ARX-manager.»
In the menu, select “add”. A form will appear »
for you to enter the administrator name, the
nger name or number and the number of the
relay which will be triggered by the nger being
added.
Once you have completed the form, select »
“forward” and a message will appear on the
screen: “I am waing for nger no. 1”; in order
to enrol a nger it is necessary to swipe the
nger over the sensor four mes. (It can happen
that the nger is not properly swiped and the
following message will not appear. In this case
swipe the nger one more me.)
Once you have successfully swiped the nger »
for the fourth me, a green LED will ash on
the device accompanied by a 1 second buzz. A
message saying “successful” will be displayed.
OTHER ADMINISTRATORS’ ENROLMENT
PROCEDURE:
Once you have entered the rst administrator
ngerprint, the device is secured and for any

administrator or enrol a new administrator.
Connect your mobile device to the ARX-manager.»
In the menu, select “add”, choose “administrator” »
and enter the name of the new administrator.
Then add the ngerprint following the same
procedure as for the rst administrator.
If you want to add a new ngerprint to an exisng »
administrator, rst you have to nd him/her on
the user list by pressing the buon “up/down”
(administrators’ names are preceded by the
leer A), and then click on the selected name.
A list of all ngers belonging to this person will
open. In the menu, select “add” and a form will
appear for you to enter the name of the new
nger and select which relay will it trigger (it may
trigger more relays at the same me). Once you
have chosen the relay, select “add”, and then the
device will ask you to swipe the nger you are
adding four mes. Aer successfully adding the
ngerprint, a green LED will ash on the device
accompanied by a 1 second buzz. A message
saying “successful” will be displayed.
Important:
There should always be at least one administrator
ngerprint in the device, unless the whole database
is deleted and you start from the beginning. If there
is only one administrator enrolled and you want to
delete him/her, the administrator shall add a new
administrator in order to delete the old one. If the
administrator is no longer accessible, you can no

longer manage the device. It must be sent to the
service centre together with its interior unit where
the ngerprint database can be deleted and an
empty device will be returned to its customer.
3.3. USER ENROLMENT
Once you have successfully entered at least one
administrator, you can start adding users. Every
user has 10 places available for their ngerprints
and you can determine which of the three relays
they will trigger; you can also determine the me
during which they can have access by entering the
start me and end me in the 24-hour interval and
the days of the week. When it comes to visitors, you
can also determine a specic date by which they
have access, and on the chosen date at midnight the
device will automacally delete them.
USER ENROLMENT PROCEDURE:

do not choose them, the user will automacally
have unlimited access; if you choose them, a new
page will appear for you to determine the days of
the week and the me during which the user has
access. You can also choose a date aer which
the user will be automacally deleted from the
device, or you can also leave this opon blank. By
pressing “add”, the enrolment process is started
and the user swipes their nger four mes
over the sensor. Once the procedure has been
successfully completed, a green LED will ash
on the device accompanied by a 1 second buzz.
A message saying “successful” will be displayed
and the display will return to the user list.
3.4. DELETING A USER/ADMINISTRATOR
Deleng a user or administrator is simple and
follows the same procedure. You shall be careful
when selecng the desired user or administrator
because the deleted ngerprints cannot be restored.
If you make a mistake, you will have to re-enter the
ngerprints.
Connect your mobile device to the ARX-manager.»

ENG
If you wish you can delete the enre ngerprint
database at one me. Once the database has
been deleted, there are no user or administrator
ngerprints available. It is therefore advisable to
immediately add an administrator because the
device is available to anyone who wants to connect
to it via Bluetooth when it is connected to the power
supply.
Connect your mobile device to the ARX-manager. »
In the menu, select “opons” and a list of sengs »
will appear. Then choose the opon “reset”. A
queson will appear on the display: “All data
will be deleted, connue?” If you have made a
mistake, select “back” to return to the previous
page. If you wish to connue, press “forward”
and the device will delete the enre database
which may take a few seconds. A message saying
“successful” will be displayed.
Event history:
The device keeps a record of all events, remembering
who swiped the nger over the sensor and when,
displaying the name of the user, which relay they
triggered and when (me/date). The device also
records all the established connecons, who has
been deleted and when, displaying the me of the
event. On average, it records the last 2000 events
(only the last 100 events can be displayed on mobile
phones). When the database is full and new events
are being added, the oldest events are automacally
being deleted. The database can also be exported to
a separate le. In a text le format it can be later
processed and used for dierent purposes.
Connect your mobile device to the ARX-manager. »
In the menu, select “opons” and then choose »
“history”. A page with a list of the last 100 events
will open with the most recent events on the
top of the list. Use the “up/down” commands to
scroll through the list or check the events.
If you want to export the list of past events, select »
“export”. A page will open allowing you to choose
the locaon where you want to save the le to.
Informaon which is being stored in the history »
can also be ltered. Select “lter” and then
choose between “show all” (in this case all the
events will be saved) or “show names” (if you
want the device to record only the names of the
users and me of their entry into the building).
When you stop checking the event history, press »
“back” to return to the list of users.
Relay sengs:
In the menu, select “relays” and a page will open
displaying three relays, each of them accompanied
by a window which allows you to set the relay
acvaon me. Set the me by selecng “edit”.
Then press “up/down” to choose the window by the
relay you want to congure and click on it. Use the
“up/down” buons to set the desired me (you can
choose among 0,5 s, 3 s, 5 s, 10 s and 30 s) and press
“conrm”. When you have nished, press “back”.
Pairing:
In the menu, select “pairing” and a page will
open displaying the following funcons: pair the
device, allow pairing, delete the device, delete all
devices. First, you should select “allow pairing” on
the already paired device. Then connect your mobile
device to the ngerprint reader you want to add
to the system and choose “pair the device” in the
menu. For this procedure, you have only 20 minutes.

8
ENG
manager
Aer this me, the pairing is disabled again.
Copying a ngerprint database:
The ARX-manager allows you to copy ngerprint
databases for two reasons. The rst one is to make
a backup copy of the ngerprints which can be
used in case of device malfuncon or accidental
reseng of the device. If you use more ngerprint
readers, the database can be simply copied into
other readers without adding the ngerprints to
each reader separately. The ngerprint database is
encrypted and therefore protected against misuse.
If someone steals your database, they cannot use it
because it can be unlocked only by the administrator
in the base. Fingerprints or templates are encrypted
in such a way that it is impossible to reconstruct a
ngerprint image out of them.
In the menu, select “opons”, then choose »
“database” and then “export”. A page will open
allowing you to enter the locaon where you
want to save your ngerprint database to.
Conrm the locaon by pressing “open” and the
ngerprint database will be saved to the desired
locaon.
If you want to save the ngerprint database in »
another reader, connect to it and in the menu
select “opons”, then “database” and then
“import”. A page will open for you to nd the
saved ngerprint database. When you nd it
press “open” and the ngerprint database will
be copied to the reader but it will remain locked.
A message will be displayed saying “swipe your
nger”. Then, one of the administrators has to
swipe their nger over the reader. Once they have
been idened, the database will unlock and a
message saying “successful” will be displayed. A
list of all users will show. All other sengs have to
be congured separately.
Update:
If updates for your device are available and you
want to update it, choose “update” in the menu
and the device will alert you that the history of the
events will be deleted. If you want to connue, press
“forward” and the device will automacally connect
to the Internet and download and install the latest
version of the soware.
Important:
If the performance of this funcon is interrupted
by an unsuccessful idencaon or a me out, the
whole procedure has to be repeated.
When a user is enrolling their ngerprints, the pause
between each swipe of the nger over the sensor
should be at least two seconds.
3.6. MAINTENANCE
The device does not require any special
maintenance. The sensor is cleaned by every swipe
of the nger but in extreme cases (when the ARX-
manager is used with greasy hands) it can be cleaned
with a moist or dry so cloth. Even mild cleansers
can be used.
Aggressive cleansers, solvents or acids must not
be used for cleaning purposes. Rubbing the sensor
with hard or sharp objects can result in device
malfuncon and loss of warranty entlement.

3.8. EXPLANATIONS AND NOTES
It is necessary to swipe the nger successfully
over the sensor four mes when a new ngerprint
template is being enrolled. This enables the device
to get the best image possible and, in so doing, it
drascally reduces the possibility of subsequent
unsuccessful idencaon. Somemes the ARX-
manager will require more than four swipes for
successful enrolment. This can happen for various
reasons: The ngerprint image was too small, the
nger was wet or dirty (the ARX-manager can usually
idenfy a ngerprint even with wet and greasy
ngers but in the enrolment phase it is beer to
have clean hands). There is enough me to aempt
the enrolment swipe seven mes.
When a new template is being enrolled there is a
een second interval aer each swipe in which
the nger must be swiped again. If the nger has
not been swiped, the ARX-manager will return to
the previous funcon aer een seconds. If the
enrolment procedure has not been carried out in
less than one minute, the device will return to the
previous funcon.
Any changes performed during the connecon are
being stored. Even if the connecon has been lost
because you have distanced yourself from the device
or because of any other reason, the procedure can
be connued from where it was interrupted once
you have re-established the connecon.
You can connect only with one portable device at
one me. Once you have connected to the device,
it will require the administrator to swipe their nger
over the sensor (except at start up, when it is sll
empty). If the administrator fails to swipe their
nger over the sensor within 20 s, the connecon
will be automacally interrupted.
The same ngerprint cannot be enrolled in the
database more than once.
There are dierent phones and therefore, the
command keys can be dierently distributed
according to the telephone type.

6. INSTALLING MANUAL
6.1. EXTERIOR UNIT MOUNTING
Exterior unit is designed to be installed on Ø 60 mm
in-wall switch box. ARX-manager. It is recommended
to install exterior unit (reader) on height 150 cm or
higher. At this height, average user can easily swipe
the nger. Exterior unit should not be exposed to
direct rain. It also should not be exposed to direct
sunlight, at least not whole day. Direct sunlight can
shorten the lifeme of sensor. If it is not possible to
mount exterior unit in the wall, a special housing
can be provided, which can be mounted on the wall.
If there is no protecon against the rain, a special
housing with IP55 protecon can be provided.
6.2. INTERIOR UNIT MOUNTING
Interior unit is designed to be installed on a DIN rail
in the fuse box. It takes 4 spaces for automac fuses.
Interior unit must be connected rst with exterior
unit, using 3 wires, than with electric lock and in
the end we connect the power(110 VAC – 230 VAC).
There are 3 relays available, relay number 1 has
three contacts, NO (normally open), C (center) and
NC (normally closed). Second two relays have two
contacts, C and NO. maximum current on relays is
3A, maximum power on relay is 40V.
6.3. CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS
copper wires and it is recommended that cable has
grounded envelop in case that this cable is close to
other high power cables. Maximum length of cable,
between exterior and interior unit is 150 m.
Three connecon wires between exterior and
interior unit are marked:
1 = +12 – posive pole
2 = LIN – encrypted connecon
3 = GND – negave pole
Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are printed on the exterior units
wires and on the housing of interior unit.
Interior unit should be connected to the power (85 –
265 VAC and frequency 47 – 63 Hz) with solid copper
wires, minimum surface of wire 1,5 mm2. Connector
for power is marked on the housing of interior unit
with the signs:
L = phase (line)
N = zero (negave line)
G = ground
Electric lock can be connected to one of relays, like
it is shown on the diagram (number 2). We can
connect up to three locks. With relays we can switch
also other devices. House alarm (alarm must have
possibility of switching with relay), lights, machine
etc. we can use also silent alarm funcon with one
of relays. In this case user should use specic nger,
which will trigger two relays at the same me, one
for the door and another for silent alarm, in case of
kidnapping.
For electric lock we can use the power supply of ARX-
manager, but the consumpon is limited to 600 mA.
If electric lock has higher consumpon than 600 mA,
it is necessary to use addional power supply. In case
that we use 2 or 3 external units on one internal unit
it is necessary to use addional power supply for the
locks, because in this case exterior units are using all
available power of ARX-manager interior unit.

Diagram 1. shows, how to connect 1 reader and 1 electric lock. In this case electric lock is supplied with power
from interior unit.
We can supply power to the electric lock from interior unit only if it’s consumpon is less than 500 mA!
If electric lock has higher consumpon than 500 mA, we need to connect addional power supply (look
diagram 4.).

plied with power from interior unit.
We can supply power to the electric lock from interior unit only if it’s consumpon is less than 500 mA!
If electric lock has higher consumpon than 500 mA, we need to connect addional power supply (look
diagram 4.).
As opon, we can connect exit pushbuon to contact 4 and 5. With this push buon, we can trigger relay no. 1

Because in this case electric locks have in total higher consumpon than 500 mA, addional power supply
is required!
If we connect 2 readers and 2 electric locks, we can use the same way of connecon. We use this diagram also
if we use 1 reader and 1 electric loch which has higher consumpon than 500 mA.
