used alone, this denotes the DAC.
Disk Array Controller (DAC) This is a unit that controls the disk array functions. This denotes
a configuration consisting of a DAC enclosure and a CONT.
Model name: NF53xx-xBxxx indicates DAC
Model name: NF53xx-xFxxx indicates CONT
Disk Enclosure (DE) Refers to a unit that is connected to the DAC and used to expand
or add a disk drive.

Disk drive Refers to a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid state drive (SDD)
with a dedicated carrier.

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing NEC's product.
This document is intended for users who have ability to build server systems and configure networks. The
following systems are supported:
Supported connection servers and operating systems:
Supported configurations: Storage Area Network (SAN) configurations and Direct Attached Storage (DAS)
configurations including a recommended configuration shown in Figure 1: Example of Recommended
Configuration.
Others: FC switches, network switches, and modems are not supported. They must be set up by
maintenance personnel.
This document is intended for use in a Windows or Linux environment.
For use in other OS environments, NEC Storage disk array system must be set up by maintenance service
provider. Please contact your maintenance service provider.
This document provides a general setup method of NEC Storage disk array system.
Before you start the setup, make sure to have products whose license sheets are shipped together with the
system and the license sheets ready.
For details about Windows and Linux NEC Storage program products, see NEC Storage
