3 Power Supply and Connection
The EVB can be powered by a 5 V/3 A or 12 V/2 A DC power supply. The Type-C cable can be used
for data communications. The following describes the connection methods and communication
methods of the EVB.
3.1 Connecting the EVB to a Power Source
The EVB can be connected to a power source by using the following three methods:
⚫Connect the EVB to an AC power source using a 5 V/3 A or 12 V/2 A AC/DC power adapter.
⚫Connect the EVB to a DC power source using an alligator clip.
⚫Connect the EVB to a DC power source by soldering cables.
3.1.1 Using an AC/DC Power Adapter
Insert the DC output directly into the DC jack of the EVB and plug the adapter directly into a power
socket.
3.1.2 Using Alligator Clips
If the DC power supply is used for the test, use alligator clips to connect the module and supply power
to the EVB. The current and the voltage of the external power supply should be consistent with the
typical values of the power supply adapter.

3.1.3 Soldering Cables
This power cable is used to directly supply power to the module. Therefore, be cautious when connecting the
cable to the external power supply. Incorrect connections of the cable will directly burn the module.
The EVB provides a contact for soldering the external cable and directly supplying power to the module.
The specific location is shown in the figure below. In this power supply mode, the voltage range is 3.3
- 4.3 V. It is recommended to use the 3.8 V stabilized power supply.

3.2 Power on the Module
Step 1: Connect the EVB to a power source.
For details, see Chapter 3.1 .
Step 2: Turn the power switch of the EVB to the ON side.
The POWER indicator will be lighted after the module is powered.
Step 3: Press the PWR_KEY button for at least 2s to power on the module.
The SYSTEM indicator will be lighted after the module starts.
3.3 Communication Connection
The Type-C cable is connected to the Type-C interface on the EVB for USB communications. The USB
interface complies with both the USB2.0 and USB3.0 standards. If you want to use the Micro USB
interface instead, modify the EVB. For specific modification methods, contact Neoway FAEs.
3.4 Antenna Connection
To connect to the wireless network, connect the module with the EVB as shown in the figure below. If
the signal is unavailable or weak, connect the module to the external antenna before the test.
