YourNEWHOLLANDCONSTRUCTIONmachineisequippedwithadditionalcomponentstocomplywithnational
andlocalexhaustemissionsrequirements.ThemaincomponentsoftheSCRsystemincludetheSCRcatalyst,the
DieselExhaustFluid(DEF)/AdBlue®dosingmodule,andtheDEF/ADBLUE®tank.
HowdoesSelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)work?
Duringcombustion,harmfulnitrogenoxide(NOx)moleculesareformedintheexhaust.ByinjectingaDEF/ADBLUE®
solutionintotheexhaustpriortoacatalyst,theNOxcanbeconvertedtoharmlesselementalnitrogenandwater.This
happenswhentheNOxmoleculesreactinsidethecatalystwiththeheatgeneratedbytheengineandtheammonia
intheDEF/ADBLUE®solution.
NOTICE:Donotidlethemachinewithnoloadformorethan6h,ordamagetotheSCRcatalystwilloccur.
Duringcoldengineoperationatlowenginecoolantandambientairtemperatures,watervaporwillbevisiblefromthe
exhaust.Thiswatervaporwillresemblesteamorlightwhitesmoke,andwilldissipateastheengineandmachine
componentswarm.Thiswatervaporisconsiderednormal.
NOTE:Afterengineshutdown,theSCRsystemwillperformapurgecycle,whichpermitsthesupplymoduletocon-
tinuetorunforupto90seconds.Thisisconsiderednormalandrequiresnoactionfromtheoperator.
WhatisExhaustGasRecirculation(EGR)andhowdoesitwork?
YourNEWHOLLANDCONSTRUCTIONmachineisequippedwithadditionalcomponentstocomplywithnational
andlocalexhaustemissionsrequirements.ThemaincomponentsoftheEGRsystemincludeEGRvalve,exhaust
temperaturesensors,differentialpressuresensor,andthrottlevalveactuator.
EGRworksbyrecirculatingaportionoftheengineex-
haustgassesbackintotheenginecombustionchamber
tolowercombustiontemperatures.
