Normaloperation
•Normaloperationmeanstheuseofthemachineforthe
purposeintendedbythemanufacturerbyanoperator
familiarwiththemachineandthemountedortowed
equipmentandcomplyingwiththeinformationforoper-
ationandsafepractices,asspeciedbythemanufac-
turerinthismanualandbythedecalsonthemachine
andtheequipment.
•Normaloperationincludespreparingandstoringthe
machine,swingingcomponentsintoandoutofwork
position,addingandremovingballast,andconnecting
andremovingaccessories.
•Normaloperationincludesadjustingandsettingupthe
machineandequipment,forthespecicconditionsof

Routineservice
•Routineservicingandmaintenancemeansactivities
thatmustbeperformeddailybyanoperatorfamiliar
withthemachine’scharacteristicsandincompliance
withtheroutineservicinginformationandwithsafe

manualandbydecalsonthemachine,inorderto
keepitworkingproperly.Theroutineserviceincludes
activitiessuchasllingup,cleaning,washing,topping
upuid,applyinggrease,andreplacingconsumable
itemssuchasbulbs.
Converting,periodicalserviceandrepair
•Periodicservicingmeansactivitiesthatmustbeper-
formedatgivenintervalsbytrainedpersonnelfamiliar
withthemachine’scharacteristicsandincompliance
withtheperiodicservicinginformationandwithsafe
practice,asspeciedbythemanufacturerinthisman-
ualandinothercompanyliterature,inorderforthema-
chinetokeeptoitsexpectedworkinglifespan.
•Conversionmeansactivitiesthatmustbeperformed
byprofessionalservicepersonnelfamiliarwiththema-
chine’scharacteristicsandincompliancewiththecon-
versioninformation,asspeciedbythemanufacturer
inthismanual,aswellaswithothercompanyinstruc-
tionsorliterature,inordertopreparethemachinefora
specicconguration.

ingorderfollowingafaultorreducedperformance.
Machinecleaning
Whenusingahighpressurewasher,donotstandtoo
closetothemachineandavoiddirectingthejetatelec-
troniccomponents,electricalconnections,breathers,
seals,llernecks,etc.Neverdirectacoldwaterjetata
hotengineorexhaust.
Failuretocomplywiththeseruleswillrenderthewarranty
nullandvoid.
Security
ThepagesinSection2listtheprecautionstobeobserved
toensureyoursafetyandthesafetyofothers.Readthe
safetyprecautionsandfollowtheadviceofferedbefore
operatingthemachine.
Servicingaftertherst50hours
Onpage7-21youwillndtheoperationsthatneedtobe
performedaftertherst50hoursofservice.

ReplacementParts
Itshouldbepointedoutthatgenuinepartshavebeen
examinedandapprovedbytheCompany.Fittingand/or
usingnon-genuineproductscouldhavenegativeeffects
onthedesigncharacteristicsofyourmachine,thereby
affectingitssafety.TheCompanyisnotliableforany
damagecausedbytheuseof'non-genuine'partsand
accessories.Onlygenuinereplacementpartsshouldbe
used.Theuseofnon-genuinepartsmayinvalidatelegal
approvalsassociatedwiththisproduct.
Makinganymodicationstothemachineisprohibited,
withoutspecicwrittenauthorizationfromthemanufac-

Warranty
Yourmachineiswarrantedaccordingtolegalrightsin
yourcountryandthecontractualagreementwiththesell-
ingdealer.Nowarrantyshall,however,applyifthema-
chinehasnotbeenused,adjustedandmaintainedasper
theinstructionsgivenintheoperator’smanual.

Beforeusingbiodieselinyourmachine,refertothe
informationonpage7-5asregardsstoringandusing
biodiesel.
Tamperingwiththeengineorfuelsystem
ATTENTION:Yourmachine’sengineandthefuelsys-
temweredesignedandconguredtomeettheemissions
standardsrequiredbythelawsinyourcountryorregion.
Dealers,customers,operators,andusersarestrictlypro-
hibitedfromtamperingwiththemachine'sfactoryset-
tings.Failuretocomplywiththisruleinvalidatesthema-
chine'swarrantyandcouldresultingovernmentnes,le-
galaction,andpossibleconscationofthemachineuntil
reworktooriginalconditioniscompleted.Enginemainte-

andlifeingeneral.Whenlegislationdoesnotyetrulethe
treatmentofsomeofthesubstancesthatadvancedtech-
nologyrequires,soundjudgmentshouldgoverntheuse
anddisposalofproductsofachemicalandpetrochemical
nature.
Familiarizeyourselfwiththerelativelegislationapplica-
bletoyourcountry,andmakesurethatyouunderstand
thislegislation.Wherenolegislationexists,obtainin-
formationfromsuppliersofoils,lters,batteries,fuels,
anti-freeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardtotheef-
fectofthesesubstancesonmanandnatureandhowto
safelystore,use,anddisposeofthesesubstances.Your
NEWHOLLANDdealercanalsoprovideassistance.
Helpfulhints
•Avoidtheuseofcansorotherinappropriatepressur-
izedfueldeliverysystemstolltanks.Suchdelivery
systemsmaycauseconsiderablespillage.
•Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils,acids,
solvents,etc.Mostoftheseproductscontainsub-
stancesthatmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.
•Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburncontami-
natedfuelsandorwasteoilsinordinaryheatingsys-
tems.
•Avoidspillagewhenyoudrainuidssuchasuseden-
ginecoolantmixtures,engineoil,hydraulicuid,brake
uid,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrakeuidsorfuelswith
lubricants.Storealldraineduidssafelyuntilyoucan
disposeoftheuidsinaproperwaythatcomplieswith
alllocallegislationandavailableresources.
•Donotallowcoolantmixturestogetintothesoil.Col-
lectanddisposeofcoolantmixturesproperly.
•Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself.It
containsgasesthatshouldnotbereleasedintotheat-
mosphere.YourNEWHOLLANDdealerorair-condi-
tioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorforthispur-
poseandcanrechargethesystemproperly.
•Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecoolingsys-
temorhydraulicsystemimmediately.
•Donotincreasethepressureinapressurizedcircuitas
thismayleadtoacomponentfailure.
Batteryrecycling
Batteriesandelectricaccumulatorscontainseveralsub-
stancesthatcanhaveaharmfuleffectontheenviron-
mentifthebatteriesarenotproperlyrecycledafteruse.
Improperdisposalofbatteriescancontaminatethesoil,
groundwater,andwaterways.NEWHOLLANDstrongly
recommendsthatyoureturnallusedbatteriestoaNEW
HOLLANDdealer,whowilldisposeoftheusedbatteries
orrecycletheusedbatteriesproperly.Insomecountries,
thisisalegalrequirement.

ensurethatyouarefamiliarwiththelocationandfunction

Donotstarttheengineorattempttodriveoroperatethe
machineuntilyouarecompletelyfamiliarwithallofthe

Runinprocedure

ning-inperiodandifservicedattherecommendedinter-

Avoidoverloadingthemachine.Operatingintoohigh
agearunderheavyloadmaycauseexcessiveengine
overloading.Overloadingoccurswhentheenginewillnot
respondtoathrottleincrease.
Donotoperatewithoutaloadontheengine.Thiscanbe
asharmfultotheengineasoverloading.Varythetypeof
operationcarriedoutsotheengineissubmittedtoamix
ofheavyandlightloadsduringtherunning-inperiod.
Usethelowergearratioswhentowingheavyloadsand
avoidcontinuousoperationatconstantenginespeeds.
Operatingthemachineinalowgearwithalightloadand
highenginespeedwillwastefuel.Youwillsavefueland
minimiseenginewearbyselectingthecorrecttransmis-
sionratioforeachparticularoperation.
Checktheinstrumentsandwarninglightsfrequentlyand
keeptheradiatorandoilreservoirstoppeduptotherec-
ommendedlevels.
Pre-orientationchecks
Beforeoperatingthemachine,ensurethatyouarethor-
oughlyfamiliarwiththelocationandoperationofthecon-
trols.
Performdailylubricationandmaintenanceoperationsin

Adequatemaintenanceofthemachineconsiderablyre-
ducesfuelconsumption.
1.Storefuelinproperlycleaned,rustandcontaminant
freecontainers.
2.Alwaysllthereservoirtankattheendofeachday
toreduceovernightcondensationofmoistureinthe
air,soastoavoiddamagetothefuelsystem.
3.Fuelltersshouldbereplacedasperrecommended
timescheduleasthelteringcapacityisnotretained
afterthisspeciedtime.Itmayallowharmfulcontam-
inationanddamagethefuelinjectionsystem.Follow
themaintenancescheduletodrainthewaterfromthe
ltersandcleanthesupplypumplter.
4.Alwaysusegenuinefuellters.SeeyourNEWHOL-
LANDdealer.
5.Repairdieselleaks,ifany,immediately.
6.Dirtparticlesthatmayentertheenginecausepre-
maturewearofliningandpistonrings.Thiscauses
lossofpowerandexcessiveconsumptionofengine
oilandfuel.Makesurethattherearenoleaksfrom
thehosesandthatthesealoftheairlterchamberis
ingoodcondition.Keepthehoseclampstightened.
7.Followtherun-inprocedureprovidedinthismanual
toachieveoptimalperformanceofyourmachine.
8.Ifyoukeeptheenginerunningatidlespeedunnec-
essarilyforlongperiods,thiswastesfuel.
9.Donotrestyourfootontheclutchpedalasthiswill
causeclutchslippage,lossofenginepowerandin-
creasedfuelconsumption.Maintainthespecied
playintheclutchpedal.
10.Alwaysdrivethemachineinthecorrectgear.
11.Usealowergeartodrivedownaslopeandusethe
brakessparingly.
12.Maintainthepropertirepressuresforeldworkas
wellasforroadwork.Referthetyrepressurechart
giveninthismanual.Wornouttyrescausewheel
slippageandwastefuel.Eitherretreadordiscard
thefullsetoftiresiftheyareveryworn.Adhereto
tyreballastingasandwhenrequiredtoreducewheel
slippageandfuelconsumption.
13.Alwaysusetheappropriateimplementstoreduce
dieselfuelwastage.Implementsshouldbemain-
tainedingoodcondition,asusageofwornoutim-

14.Alwaysploughlengthwiseandplanyoureldrunto
reducefuelconsumption.Adjustthewheelgaugeto
suittheimplementandavoidoverlapwhenyouwork
intheeld.
15.Adjusttheproperenginerotationwhenyouworkwith
equipmentdrivenbythePowerTake-Off(PTO).If
youselectthewrongrotation,itwillresultinexcess
fuelconsumption.
