INTRODUCTION
This manual will help you get the most from your Nilsk Scrubber. Read it thoroughly before operating the machine.

PARTS AND SERVICE
Repairs, when required, should be performed by Nilsk, Inc., who employs factory trained service personnel, and maintains an inventory of Nilsk
original replacement parts and accessories.
Call NILFISK, INC. for repair parts or service. Please specify the Model and Serial Number when discussing your machine.
MODIFICATIONS
Modications and additions to the cleaning machine which affect capacity and safe operation shall not be performed by the customer or user
without prior written approval from Nilsk, Inc. Unapproved modications will void the machine warranty and make the customer liable for any
resulting accidents.
NAME PLATE
The Model Number (also known as Part Number) and Serial Number of your machine are shown on the Nameplate, located on the bottom side of
the seat panel.
Date of Manufacture “Date Code” is marked on the nameplate. Date Code: A20, means January 2020.
This information is needed when ordering repair parts for the machine. Use the space below to note the Model Number and Serial Number of your
machine for future reference.

UNCRATE THE MACHINE
When the machine is delivered, carefully inspect the shipping packaging and the machine for damage. If damage is evident, save the shipping
carton (if applicable) so that it can be inspected. Contact the Nilsk Customer Service Department immediately to le a freight damage claim.
Refer to the unpacking instruction sheet included with the machine to remove the machine from the pallet.

TRANSPORTING THE MACHINE
CAUTION!
Before transporting the machine in a closed truck or trailer, make sure that . . .
• All tanks are empty.
• If a ramp is required to load/unload the machine, remove Front Guard Assembly (46) prior to driving the machine up or down a ramp.
• Recovery tank cover secured in closed position.
• Scrub deck and squeegee are in the down position.
• The machine is tied down securely - see Tie Down Locations (6) in Know Your Machine. Only use locations designated as “Tie Down
Locations” to secure the machine during transport. Using any other location of the machine to tie down the machine may cause damage or
injury.
• The machine’s electromagnetic brake is engaged (not manually overridden), see Electromagnetic Brake section if necessary.

Specic Cautions and Warnings are included to warn you of potential danger of machine damage or bodily harm.
This machine is intended for commercial use, for example in hotels, schools, factories, shops, ofces and rental

WARNING!
• The operation of this machine is strictly reserved to trained and qualied operators.
• This machine is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.
• While on ramps or inclines, avoid sudden stops. Avoid abrupt sharp turns. Use low speed down ramps.
• Observe the Gross Vehicle Weight, GVW, of the machine when loading, driving, lifting or supporting the machine.
• Keep sparks, ame and smoking materials away from batteries. Explosive gases are vented during normal operation.
• Charging the batteries produces highly explosive hydrogen gas. Charge batteries only in well-ventilated areas, away
from open ame. Do not smoke while charging the batteries.
• Remove all jewelry when working near electrical components.
• Turn the machine power OFF and disconnect the batteries before servicing electrical components.
• Never work under a machine without safety blocks or stands to support the machine.
• Do not dispense ammable cleaning agents, operate the machine on or near these agents, or operate in areas where
ammable liquids exist.

• Do not clean this machine with a pressure washer.
• Only use the brushes or pads provided with the appliance or those specied in the instruction manual. The use of
other brushes or pads may impair safety.
• Do not operate the machine close to overhanging objects such as racking, ladders, wall hung re extinguishers, tables
and similar objects.
•Do not operate the machine in autonomous mode in the vicinity of elevated support platforms such as ladders,
scaffolding, cherry pickers and similar items.
CAUTION!
• This machine is not approved for use on public paths or roads.
• This machine is not suitable for picking up hazardous dust.
• Do not use scarier discs and grinding stones. Use only pads or brushes intended for oor cleaning. Nilsk will not
be held responsible for any damage to oor surfaces caused by using the wrong or improper pads or brushes.
• When operating this machine, ensure that third parties, particularly children, are not endangered.
• Before performing any service function, carefully read all instructions pertaining to that service task.
• After use power the machine off at the key switch, do not leave the machine unattended where it can be accessed by
others.
• Power the machine OFF at the key switch and remove the key, before changing the brushes, and before opening any
access panels.
• Take precautions to prevent hair, jewelry, or loose clothing from becoming caught in moving parts.
• Use caution when moving this machine in below freezing temperature conditions. Any water in the solution, recovery
or detergent cartridges or in the hose lines could freeze, causing damage to valves, pumps and ttings. Flush with
low-temperature windshield washer uid.

CAUTION!
• The batteries must be removed from the machine before the machine is scrapped. The disposal of the batteries
should be safely done in accordance with your local environmental regulations.
• Do not use on surfaces having a gradient exceeding that marked on the machine.
• All doors and covers are to be positioned as indicated in the instruction manual before using the machine.
• CAUTION - This machine should only be used and stored indoors.
• Do not spray this machine with pressurized water.
• Only use locations designated as “Tie Down Locations” to secure the machine during transport. Using any other
location of the machine to tie down the machine may cause damage or injury.
• Do not operate the machine in an environment exceeding 122°F (50°C).
• Do not operate the machine without the Rear Wheel Guards (45) and Front Guard Assembly (46) in place.
•Do not use the machine in autonomous mode around stairways, escalators or open elevator shafts, or into any area
where there is a signicant drop in elevation without guarding. Machine can re-route from a trained path. Serious
machine damage may result if it falls down stairs, escalators, or open shafts. The machine cannot climb stairs. In
autonomous mode, machine is designed for use only on level surfaces.
• Do not operate the machine on a grade outside that which is written on the nameplate.
• Do not carry passengers (any person who is not the operator) on any part of the machine.
• While driving the machine manually, it is the Operator’s responsibility to avoid contact with obstacles and individuals.
The machine will not avoid them in the manual operating mode. There are no autonomous safety functions operating
in the manual mode.
• Do not operate the machine on wet oors or low friction/slippery surfaces (ice, oil, etc.).
• Do not operate the machine near other autonomous vehicles.
• Ensure daily and periodic safety checks are completed.
• Ensure that area to be scrubbed is clear of obstacles that are not xed, such as hoses, buckets or pails, boxes,
electrical cords, carts, pallets, etc.
• Do not hang anything from the 2D Drop-off LIDAR or any part of the machine.
• Do not operate autonomous function if the squeegee or water recovery system are not functioning correctly.
• Do not operate around unguarded bodies of water.
• Some objects could be difcult for the machine to detect, such as reective black surfaces, other highly polished or
reective surfaces, or plexiglass. Avoid cleaning in autonomous mode in areas where these objects are present.
• Avoid use in environments where stopping could result in a safety risk, such as blocking an emergency exit or access
to medical equipment.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• In order to prevent unauthorized use of the machine, the power source shall be switched off or locked, and key switch
removed.
• Machines left unattended shall be secured against unintentional movement.

AUTONOMY COMPONENTS
The Nilsk Liberty SC60 can function autonomously meaning that it functions (operates) on its own, on a route determined by an operator without
further operator involvement. The machine can be taught an area to clean independently and actively maneuver around certain obstacles.
Components that make up the Autonomy system, and their basic function, include the following (shown in Figure 1-1):
• BrainOS Software Platform (not shown). Enables machines to navigate complex environments by accessing sensors to scan environment.

PREPARE THE MACHINE FOR USE
BATTERIES
If this machine shipped with batteries installed do the following:
• Check that the batteries are connected to the machine (39).
• Turn ON the Key Switch (27) to power ON machine and check the Battery Indicator (O). If the gauge is completely lled the batteries are ready for use. If
the gauge is less than full the batteries should be charged before use. See the “Charging the Batteries” section.
• IMPORTANT!: REFER TO THE BATTERY CHARGER’S OEM PRODUCT MANUAL FOR INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING SETTING THE CHARGER FOR
BATTERY TYPE.
If this machine shipped without batteries installed do the following:
• Consult an Authorized Nilsk dealer for recommended batteries.
• Install the batteries by following the instructions below.
• IMPORTANT!: REFER TO THE BATTERY CHARGER’S OEM PRODUCT MANUAL FOR INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING SETTING THE CHARGER FOR
BATTERY TYPE.
INSTALL THE BATTERIES
WARNING !
Use extreme caution when working with batteries. Sulfuric acid in batteries can cause severe injury if allowed to contact the skin
or eyes. Explosive hydrogen gas is vented from inside the batteries through openings in the battery caps. This gas can be ignited
by any electrical arc, spark or ame. If battery acid makes contact with your skin or eyes, ush the affected area with water for 5
minutes and seek medical attention.
When Servicing Batteries...
• Remove all jewelry to avoid accidental shorts.
• Do not smoke.
• Wear safety glasses, a rubber apron and rubber gloves.
• Work in a well-ventilated area.
• Do not allow tools to touch more than one battery terminal at a time.
• ALWAYS disconnect the negative (ground) cable rst when replacing batteries to prevent sparks.
• ALWAYS connect the negative cable last when installing batteries.
CAUTION !
Electrical components in this machine can be severely damaged if the batteries are not installed and connected properly. Batteries
should be installed by Nilsk or by a qualied electrician.
Only batteries approved for use in this machine by Nilsk shall be installed.
1 Remove the batteries from their shipping crate and carefully inspect them for cracks
or other damage. If damage is evident, contact the carrier that delivered them or the
battery manufacturer to le a damage claim.
2 Turn the Key Switch (27) off (O) and remove the key.
3 Tip the seat forward to open the Battery Compartment (10).and set the prop rod.
4 Using (2) people and an appropriate lifting strap, carefully lift the batteries into the
compartment tray exactly as shown. Refer to the battery wiring decal 56123085 on
the underside of the seat panel.
5 See Figure 2-1. Install battery cables as shown and carefully tighten the nut in
each battery terminal until the battery cable will not rotate. Do not over-tighten the
terminals, or they will be very difcult to remove for future service.
6 Install the battery boots and secure tightly to the battery cables with the supplied tie
straps.
7 Connect the battery pack connector to the Machine Battery Connector (39) and close
the battery compartment cover.
When changing batteries or the charger, please contact a local authorized service
center for correct battery, charger and machine settings to prevent battery damage.

HOME MARKER
Home Markers must be permanently installed before the machine can operate in autonomous mode. The Home Marker is a QR type code that the
machine scans to identify its current location and associates saved routes to each unique home marker.
Home Markers are used to establish the start and end points of a cleaning route. The number of Home Markers required depends on the size of
the space in which the machine operates in autonomous mode.
The machine uses a Home Marker (30) to identify its specic position within the building see Figure 2-2.
1 The Home Marker should be mounted permanently on a wall or xed at object near commonly cleaned areas that do not change from day-
to-day. If the Home Marker is moved even slightly, the route might not be followed correctly.
2 Machine needs an unobstructed view of the Home Marker from the right 2D camera.
3 Home Marker needs to be in a well-lit area for machine to scan.
4 Do not install Home Markers near stairways, re exits, or re, rst aid, or emergency equipment.
5 Mount the Home Marker at a height of 40 inches (100 cm) from the oor.
6 The top edge of the Home Marker must be level with the oor.
7 After mounting the Home Marker, remove the protective lm from its face. The Home Marker is supplied with a microber cloth for keeping it
clean.
8 Do not photocopy, laminate, or place a Home Marker in a glossy sleeve or cover, this could prevent the machine from being able to scan the
Home Marker.
9 The machine can use up to 10 different Home Markers with 6 saved routes per Home Marker for 60 total routes possible.
10 Install a unique Home Marker for each oor of a multilevel building.
11 If a Home Marker is lost or damaged, contact customer service for a replacement.
12 QR type codes used as “Location Tags” for other Nilsk autonomous machines are not compatible with Liberty SC60.
When scanning a Home Marker, drive the machine so that the right side of the machine is;
1 Parallel to the wall to properly read the Home Marker.
2 A distance of no less than 24 inches (61 cm).
IMPORTANT! Prior to teaching any routes the Home Marker has to be installed and identied by the machine.

1 Verify which brush or pad is appropriate for the oor surface to be cleaned.
2 Make sure the Scrub Deck (8) is in the RAISED position. Make sure the Key Switch (27) is off.

these knobs and slide the Side Blade Assemblies (AB) slightly forward and then off the Scrub Deck.
3 To install the Brushes (AC) (or pad holders) align the Lugs (AD) on the brush with the holes on the mounting plate and turn to lock in place
(turn the outside edge of brush towards the front of machine as shown by arrow (AE)). NOTE: While scrubbing the brushes rotate in the
direction as shown by arrow (AF).

AUTOMATIC BRUSH REMOVAL (DISC SYSTEM)
1 Turn the Key Switch (27) to the ON position (I). Wait for initial start up screen.
2 Make sure the Scrub Deck (8) is in the RAISED position.
3 Press and hold both Scrub Pressure Decrease Switch (A-) and Scrub Pressure Increase Switch (A+) for 3 seconds.
4 Brushes will begin to spin then stop abruptly and drop off of the scrub deck.

INSTALL THE BRUSHES (CYLINDRICAL SYSTEM)
1 Verify which brush or pad is appropriate for the oor surface to be cleaned.
2 Make sure the Scrub Deck (8) is in the RAISED position. Make sure the Key Switch (27) is off.
CAUTION !
Turn the key switch off (O) and remove the key, before changing the brushes, and before opening any access panels.

4 Slide the Brush (BD) into the deck housing, lift slightly, push and turn until it seats. Re-install the Idler Assemblies (BC) and Side Blade
Assemblies (BA).

INSTALL THE SQUEEGEE
1 See Figure 2-6. Slide the Squeegee Assembly (11) onto the squeegee mount bracket and tighten the Squeegee Removal Knobs (38).
2 Connect the Recovery Hose (34) to the squeegee inlet.
3 Lower the squeegee, move the machine ahead slightly and adjust the squeegee tilt and height using the Squeegee Tilt Adjust Knob (35) and
Squeegee Height Wheel (AC) so that the rear squeegee blade touches the oor evenly across its entire width and is bent over slightly as
shown in the squeegee cross section.

FILL THE SOLUTION TANK
Open the Solution Tank Fill Cap (40) then ll the tank with a maximum of 26 US gallons (100 liters) of cleaning solution.
The machine is equipped with EcoFlex - a detergent dispensing system. When using this system the solution tank should be lled with plain water.
The machine can also be used conventionally with detergent mixed with water in the tank. Always follow the dilution instructions on the detergent
container label. The solution should be a mixture of water and the proper cleaning detergent for the job.
CAUTION!
Use only low-foaming, non-ammable liquid detergents intended for automatic scrubber machine applications. Water temperature
should not exceed 130 degrees Fahrenheit (55 degrees Celsius).
NOTE: When relling the solution tank always empty the recovery tank using Recovery Tank Drain Hose (36).

DETERGENT SYSTEM PREPARATION (ECOFLEX)
FILL THE DETERGENT CARTRIDGE
CAUTION!
Always follow the instructions on the labels of the detergent cartridge when using oor cleaning detergents. Wear the appropriate
personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection when handling oor cleaning detergents.
In the event of a detergent spill follow these four steps:
• Communicate the hazard. Immediately notify others working in the area and any supervisory personnel of the hazard, and if the
situation warrants it, evacuate the area.
• Control the spill. Ensure the spill does not become any worse.
• Contain the hazard.
• Clean up the spill and any damage safely.
The Detergent Cartridge (13) is located behind the Detergent Cartridge Access Door (12) in the operator’s compartment. Fill the detergent
cartridge with a maximum of 1.25 gallons (4.73 Liters) of detergent. SERVICE NOTE: Remove the detergent cartridge from the detergent box
prior to lling to avoid spilling detergent on the machine.
It is recommended that a separate cartridge be used for each detergent you plan to use. The detergent cartridges have a white decal on them so
you can write the detergent name on each cartridge for clarication. When installing a new cartridge, remove the Factory Cap (AA) and place the
cartridge in the machine. Install the Dry Break Cap (BB) and detergent hose as shown in Figure 2-8.
The system should be purged of previous detergent when switching to a different detergent (see “To Purge When Changing Detergent”).

To Purge When Changing Detergent (SCRUB AND SOLUTION SYSTEMS MUST BE OFF):
SERVICE NOTE: Move machine over oor drain before purging because a small amount of detergent will be dispensed in the process.
1 Disconnect and remove the detergent cartridge.
2 Turn the Key Switch (27) to ON (I) to power on the machine. Wait a few seconds for the start-up sequence to nish.
3 Press and hold the Detergent Mode Increase Switch (C+) and the Solution Flow Increase Switch (B+) down for 2 seconds. NOTE: Once
activated the purge process takes 20 seconds. Press (C+) and (B+) again before 20 seconds to cancel purge. Normally one purge cycle is
adequate to purge the system.
To Purge Weekly (SCRUB AND SOLUTION SYSTEMS MUST BE OFF):
1 Disconnect and remove the detergent cartridge. Install and connect a Cartridge lled with clean warm water.
2 Follow steps 2 and 3 from “To Purge When Changing Detergent”.
When the detergent level is nearing the bottom of the cartridge it is time to rell or replace the cartridge.
SERVICE NOTE: Follow the “To Purge Weekly” instructions above if the machine is going to be stored for an extended period of time.

DETERGENT SYSTEM USE (ECOFLEX)
Detergent Ratio (SCRUB AND SOLUTION SYSTEM MUST BE ON):
No detergent is dispensed until the scrub and detergent systems are activated, direction is set to forward (Reverse Indicator (L1) not lit), and the
Drive Pedal (3) is pressed.
• The Detergent Mode Indicators (C1) will light up when the detergent system is on.
• The three lights signify the selected ratio/percentage of detergent.
There are 5 modes of EcoFlex operation:
1. Chemical Free Cleaning Mode - During scrubbing, the detergent system can be turned off at any time by pressing the Detergent Mode
Decrease Switch (C-) until all Indicators (C1) are off, to allow scrubbing with water only.
2. Detergent Low Mode – Activated by pressing the Detergent Mode Increase Switch (C+) when detergent is off (repeated presses will
increase to Medium Mode and High Mode, press Decrease Switch (C-) to return to low mode).
• The rst Detergent Mode Indicator (C1) will be lit.
• Detergent = 0.3% / 3 ml/Liter / 1:300 Ratio
3. Detergent Medium Mode – Activated by pressing the Detergent Mode Increase Switch (C+) when detergent is in Low Mode (additional
presses will increase to High Mode, press Decrease Switch (C-) to return to medium mode).
• The rst and second Detergent Mode Indicators (C1) will be lit.
• Detergent = 1.0% / 10 ml/Liter / 1:100 Ratio
4. Detergent High Mode – Activated by pressing the Detergent Mode Increase Switch (C+) when detergent is in Medium Mode (pressing
Decrease Switch (C-) will decrease mode to medium then low).
• All three Detergent Mode Indicators (C1) will be lit.
• Detergent = 3.0% / 30 ml/Liter / 1:32 Ratio
5. Burst of Power Cleaning Mode – Press the Burst of Power Switch (D) to enter Burst of Power mode. Burst of Power Indicator (D1) will blink
for one minute. Press Switch (D) again before 60 seconds to cancel Burst of Power.
• Detergent ratio will increase to the next higher concentration detergent level. Detergent system will be turned ON at “detergent low
mode” if it was OFF.
• Solution ow rate will increase to the next higher level, visible at (B1).
• Scrub pressure will increase to the next level, visible at (A1).
• Vacuum power will have no change. If the vacuum system is off then it will remain off.
Once set, the detergent ow rate automatically increases and decreases with the solution ow rate, but the detergent ratio/percentage remains the
same.
