Nokia 3390
User Guide Addendum
• THE AOL INSTANT MESSENGER™ SERVICE
The Nokia 3390 now lets you send and receive Instant Messages through
America Online’s Instant Messenger service (check with your service
provider for availability). It’s different from using SMS or email addresses
to send messages because with the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM®) service
you can have a true, two-way conversation.
The AIM Buddy List® feature shows you when your friends, family members,
and colleagues are online and available to exchange IMs. Simply select
the name, write the message, and send it. Your message stays on the screen
and when your friend/family/colleague replies, their reply appears on the
screen, below your original message, so you can track the conversation.
Get your Screen Name and password
Before you can start using the AIM service, you must first get a Screen
Name and password from www.aol.com/aim and subscribe to your service
provider’s text messaging service. Information on the web site helps you
register a Screen Name and password. (You can also download and install
the AIM service on your PC.)
If you’re already an AIM, AOL or CompuServe® user, and you have
subscribed to your service provider’s text messaging service, follow the
instructions below to sign on and use the AIM service.
