3. WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS

Warnings and Cautions

Please refer to the hone’s user guide for instructions relating to o eration, care and maintenance including

im ortant safety information. Note also the following:

Warnings:

1. CARE MUST BE TAKEN ON INSTALLATION IN VEHICLES FITTED WITH ELECTRONIC ENGINE MANAGEMENT

SYSTEMS AND ANTI–SKID BRAKING SYSTEMS. UNDER CERTAIN FAULT CONDITIONS, EMITTED RF ENERGY CAN

AFFECT THEIR OPERATION. IF NECESSARY, CONSULT THE VEHICLE DEALER/MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE

THE IMMUNITY OF VEHICLE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS TO RF ENERGY.

2. THE HANDPORTABLE TELEPHONE MUST NOT BE OPERATED IN AREAS LIKELY TO CONTAIN POTENTIALLY

Cautions:

1. Servicing and alignment must be undertaken by qualified ersonnel only.

2. Ensure all work is carried out at an anti–static workstation and that an anti–static wrist stra is worn.

3. Use only a roved com onents as s ecified in the arts list.

4. Ensure all com onents, modules screws and insulators are correctly re–fitted after servicing and alignment.

5. Ensure all cables and wires are re ositioned correctly.

4. ESD PROTECTION

Nokia requires that service oints have sufficient ESD rotection (against static electricity) when

servicing the hone.

Any roduct of which the covers are removed must be handled with ESD rotection. The SIM

card can be re laced without ESD rotection if the roduct is otherwise ready for use.

To re lace the covers ESD rotection must be a lied.

All electronic arts of the roduct are susce tible to ESD. Resistors, too, can be damaged by

static electricity discharge.

All ESD sensitive arts must be acked in metallized rotective bags during shi ing and

handling outside any ESD Protected Area (EPA).

Every re air action involving o ening the roduct or handling the roduct com onents must

be done under ESD rotection.

ESD rotected s are art ackages MUST NOT be o ened/closed out of an ESD Protected Area.

5. CARE AND MAINTENANCE

This roduct is of su erior design and craftsmanshi and should be treated with care. The suggestions below will

hel you to fulfill any warranty obligations and to enjoy this roduct for many years.

• Kee the hone and all its arts and accessories out of the reach of small children.

• Kee the hone dry. Preci itation, humidity and all ty es of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that will

corrode electronic circuits.

• Do not use or store the hone in dusty, dirty areas. Its moving arts can be damaged.

• Do not store the hone in hot areas. High tem eratures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage

batteries, and war or melt certain lastics.

• Do not store the hone in cold areas. When it warms u (to its normal tem erature), moisture can form inside,

which may damage electronic circuit boards.

• Do not dro , knock or shake the hone. Rough handling can break internal circuit boards.

• Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the hone.

• Do not aint the hone. Paint can clog the moving arts and revent ro er o eration.

• Use only the su lied or an a roved re lacement antenna. Unauthorised antennas, modifications or

attachments could damage the hone and may violate regulations governing radio devices.

All of the above suggestions a ly equally to the roduct, battery, charger or any accessory.

6. BATTERY INFORMATION

Note: A new battery’s full erformance is achieved only after two or three com lete charge and discharge cycles!

The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the o erating

time (talk-time and standby time) is noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery. Use only

batteries a roved by the hone manufacturer and recharge the battery only with the chargers a roved by the

manufacturer.

Un lug the charger when not in use. Do not leave the battery connected to a charger for longer than a week, since

overcharging may shorten its lifetime.

If left unused a fully charged battery will discharge itself over time Tem erature extremes can affect the ability of

your battery to charge.

For good o eration times with Ni-Cd/NiMh batteries, discharge the battery from time to time by leaving the

roduct switched on until it turns itself off (or by using the battery discharge facility of any a roved accessory

available for the roduct).

Do not attem t to discharge the battery by any other means Use the battery only for its intended ur ose.

Never use any charger or battery which is damaged.

Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metallic object (coin, cli or en)

causes direct connection of the + and - terminals of the battery (metal stri s on the battery) for exam le when you

carry a s are battery in your ocket or urse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the

connecting object.

Leaving the battery in hot or cold laces, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the

ca acity and lifetime of the battery. Always try to kee the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F).

A hone with a hot or cold battery may tem orarily not work, even when the battery is fully charged.

Batteries’ erformance is articularly limited in tem eratures well below freezing.

Do not dis ose batteries in a fire! Dis ose of batteries according to local regulations (e.g. recycling).

Do not dis ose as household waste.

11. DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION

1. Nokia 8208 disassembly.

2. You will need the Nokia Standard Toolkit version 2.

Also refer to the General Mechanical Guideline Video for

additional hints about the tools and com onent

handling.

3. Protect the main lens surface with a film.

4. Press the battery latch to o en battery cover.

5. Pull u ward to remove battery.

6. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to loosen and remove six

Torx screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque driver, set

torque to 8Ncm @ 450 r m. The tolerance is +/-

0.5Ncm.

7. Pull u ward to o en D-cover assembly.

8. Use tweezers to cli FPC connector and ull u ward to

release FPC from the main board.

Pull left to remove the music key ad from A-cover

assembly.

10. O en the A-cover assembly from D-cover assembly.

11.Place the ick into ga between D-cover and main

board.

12. Use a ick to se arate the right side of main board

from the jack hold of D-cover.

14.Push main board from left side to right side to

se arate main board from left hook of D-cover.

15. Remove the main board from D-cover. 16. Pull u ward to release number key ad from the

main board.

17. Push u ward to release sub PWB from the main

board.

18. Use tweezers to cli camera module and ull

u ward to release it from the main board.

remove it from D-cover.

and release it from A-cover assembly.

22. Use tweezers to cli adhesive cosmetic bar-lower

and release it from A-cover assembly.

23. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to loosen and remove

two Torx screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque

driver, set torque to 8Ncm @ 450 r m. The

tolerance is +/- 0.5Ncm.

24. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to loosen and remove

two Torx screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque

25. Pull u ward to release the slide assembly module

from A -cover.

26. Use hands to ush bottom of vibrator and ull

u ward to remove it from the slider module.

27. Use tweezers to cli connector of vibrator and ull

u ward to remove it from FPC.

28. Peel off the FPC by ick.

29. Press the bottom side of LCD lens to se arate the

lens from slider module.

30. Use tweezers to cli FPC connector and ull u ward

to release FPC from the LCD board.

31. Use tweezers to cli the receiver and ull u ward to

remove it from A - cover.

12. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION

1. Nokia 8208 assembly.

3. Use tweezers to cli the receiver and ut it

downward into the concave hole of A - cover.

4. Use tweezers to cli FPC and insert into the connector

of main board.

5. Insert FPC cable of LED through the hole of slider

module.

6. Press the main board and FPC on slider module and

make it sure is stuck on late firmly.

7. Use hands to ut vibrator downward into the

concave hole of slider module.

8. Use tweezers to cli connector of vibrator and ut it

downward to insert into FPC.

9. Put the slide assembly module downward into the

A -cover

10. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to assemble two TORX

screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque driver, set torque

to 8Ncm @ 450 r m. The tolerance is +/- 0.5Ncm.

11. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to assemble two TORX

screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque driver, set torque

to 8Ncm @ 450 r m. The tolerance is +/- 0.5Ncm.

12. Use tweezers to cli adhesive cosmetic bar-lower

and ut it downward on A -cover assembly.

and ut it downward on A-cover assembly.

14. Use tweezers to cli s eaker and ut it into the

concave hole of D-cover.

15. Use tweezers to cli camera module and ut it

downward into the main board.

16. Put sub PWB downward into the main board.

17. Put number key on the main board.

18. Put the main board into D-cover.

19. Insert the music key ad into A-cover assembly.

20. Use tweezers to cli FPC and insert into the

connector of main board.

21. Put the D-cover on the A-cover.

22. Use a TORX T5 screwdriver to assemble six TORX

screws (T1.6x2.2). When using torque driver, set

torque to 8Ncm @ 450 r m. The tolerance is +/-

0.5Ncm.

23. Put battery into D-cover.

24. Press Batter-Cover on D-Cover eri herally.

13. DOMESHEET ALIGNMENT JIG INSTRUCTION

1. Use the tweezers to eel the dome sheet.

2. Remove the dome sheet.

3. Place a new dome sheet on the Dome sheet

Alignment Jig.

4. Align the guide ins and lace the PWB on the Jig.
