Ⅳ. Frequently Asked Question

FITTO is a device that provides and monitors numerous muscle measurements of specific body regions using near-
infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology. Eight discrete wavelengths of DMW-NIRS penetrate the scan site’s surface
tissue to calculate the concentration of chromophores and to measure muscle value. The results can be viewed in
the FITTO mobile app, paired via Bluetooth, to provide integrated services for users.

2. Connecting App to Device
2.1 Power
•Q1: The device does not turn on even if I press and hold the top button for more than 2 seconds.
•A1: Connect the device to the charging cable and see if it starts changing—the green light should
flash every 4 seconds. Remember to turn the device off each time after scanning is complete by
pressing the power button for more than 3 seconds.
If the device still won’t charge, please contact Olive Healthcare immediately, at [email protected] or
visit our page at: https://shop.olivehc.com/pages/contactus.
•Q2: The device is stuck with the light on, and pressing or holding the power button does not turn it
off.
•A2: This means you need a Firmware update. To do this follow these steps:
1. Leave the device on it on, and connect it to the app.
2. The app will automaticawithout charging for a couple of days so that the battery runs out
and the device turns off on its own.
3. Charge the device, power lly update the device firmware to the latest version.
2.2 Bluetooth Connection
•Q: Bluetooth pairing does not work.
•A: Try these troubleshooting tips as follows:
1. Check if your FITTO device is fully charged and turned on.
2. Make sure the device is unplugged from the charging cable while you are attempting to
pair the device to the app.
3. Check if your network connection status is stable.
4. Check if the Bluetooth connection on your phone is set to “active”
16

For iOS:
1. Settings > FITTO > Bluetooth On
2. Settings > Bluetooth > Tap the Bluetooth enabled button from off to on. (If Bluetooth is
already turned on, turn it off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it on again).
3. Settings > Bluetooth > Delete your FITTO device from the “My Devices” list (tap the “i”
button to clear this device from details screen).
4. Try connecting your phone or tablet to FITTO again.
For Android:
1. Go to: Settings > Connection > Bluetooth > Unpair FITTO from your device.
Or, go to: Settings > Connected Devices > Connection preferences > Bluetooth > Unpair FITTO
from your device.
2. Try pairing your phone or tablet to FITTO again.
5. Try turning the Bluetooth connection off. Wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
6. Disconnect all other wireless units (ex. Bluetooth earphones) on your phone. Try pairing
with FITTO only (Important: Multiple Bluetooth connections in the broadband may interfere with
pairing)
7. Try connecting your FITTO with other smart devices(eg. iPads, tablets).
8. Try "Reset your phone settings" (not to erase data but to reset your settings for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc).
Make sure to find the right instructions for your phone.
17
3. Scanning and Results
•Q: The device is paired, but when I press the top button to start a scan, the following message
pops up: “Connected. Battery Low. Firmware update needed. Please, connect your charger to
update.”
•A: The device battery is running low (indicated by an amber light flashing every 0.6 seconds). To
charge the device, plug the device charger directly into a wall outlet.
Note: Using multiple Bluetooth connections at the same time may interfere with pairing
Note: If your device requires a firmware update, p.11 for more information.

•Q2: “Something went wrong” message keeps popping up when I try to scan my body.
•A2: Try these troubleshooting tips:
1. Check to see whether your network or Bluetooth connection is stable
2. You will receive this message if the scanning period is too short. Check if the device light
is flashing blue—it means the device is currently scanning. Hold the device in place until
the light stops flashing and the device “beeps” to successfully input a scan from FITTO to
your smartphone or tablet.
3. Make sure the scanning area on your body is clear of excess moisture and hair, in case
there is interference with the scanning device.
•Q3: My scan results keep changing drastically when I use the device!
•A3: Your results may be inconsistent if you did not scan the same location as your previous
sessions. See p.12-p.13 for more information on how to consistently scan your muscles on the
same location. You can also check to see if your general and physical information (e.g. weight,
waist circumference, etc.) are up to date!
•Q4: I have had my body composition measured before, and it is not the same as my FITTO scan
results.
•A4: Traditional BIA-based methods of measuring body fat can have an error margin greater than
5%. This is because Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) methods require estimation after
determining a response time to body water content via electrical impulse, in order to calculate
mass percentages. This means that BIA scans are not scanning your muscles or fat directly, but by
using the body’s water content as a base measurement to calculate mass percentages.
FITTO uses Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology instead. This technology refers to an
electromagnetic wavelength corresponding to about 780 to 2500 nm and has been used to
measure tissue chromophores to describe human health. The best-known equipment is the pulse
oximeter, which measures the oxygen saturation of patients in hospitals. The device uses light
sources of 8-wavelength NIR LED (Light Emitting Diodes) to calculate oxy-hemoglobin, deoxy-
hemoglobin, water, and lipid by measuring tissue absorption and scattering during photon
migrations. NIRS technology was developed in the 1990s and has been used in various fields for
decades. With the development of light source technology, it is safely used non-invasively on the
human body, and it is developing into a technology that enables precise measurement. FITTO is
the only palm-sized portable device that can accurately measure and record body composition
such as muscle mass and body fat mass.
