General Information

Omcan Manufacturing and Distributing Company Inc., Food Machinery of America, Inc. dba Omcan

and Omcan Inc. are not responsible for any harm or injury caused due to any person’s improper or

negligent use of this equipment. The product shall only be operated by someone over the age of 18, of

sound mind, and not under the inuence of any drugs or alcohol, who has been trained in the correct

operation of this machine, and is wearing authorized, proper safety clothing. Any modication to the

machine voids any warranty, and may cause harm to individuals using the machine or in the vicinity of

the machine while in operation.

CHECK PACKAGE UPON ARRIVAL

Upon receipt of an Omcan shipment please inspect for external damage. If no damage is evident on the

external packaging, open carton to ensure all ordered items are within the box, and there is no concealed

damage to the machine. If the package has su󰀨ered rough handling, bumps or damage (visible or concealed),

please note it on the bill of lading before accepting the delivery and contact Omcan within 24 hours, so we may

initiate a claim with the carrier. A detailed report on the extent of the damage caused to the machine must be

lled out within three days, from the delivery date shown in the shipping documents. Omcan has no recourse

for damaged products that were shipped collect or third party.

Before operating any equipment, always read and familiarize yourself with all operation and safety

instructions.

Omcan would like to thank you for purchasing this machine. It’s of the utmost importance to save

these instructions for future reference. Also save the original box and packaging for shipping the

equipment if servicing or returning of the machine is required.

General Information

Carefully read the warnings contained in these instructions as they supply important indications

regarding installation, use and maintenance safety for the Knife Sharpener.

This appliance is intended for household use.

This appliance must be used only for the purpose for which it was specically designed, that is to

sharpen blades. Any other use is to be considered improper and dangerous.

Avant d’utiliser n’importe quel équipement, toujours lire et vous familiariser avec toutes les opérations

et les consignes de sécurité.

Omcan voudrais vous remercier d’avoir choisi cette machine. Il est primordial de conserver ces

empaque exterior, Habra el carton para asegurararse que todos los articulos solicitados ésten dentro de la

caja y no encuentre daños ocultos en la máquina. Si el paquete ha sufrido un manejo de poco cuidado, golpes

o daños (visible o oculto) por favor anote en la factura antes de aceptar la entrega y contacte Omcan dentro

de las 24 horas, de modo que podamos iniciar una reclamación con la compañia. Un informe detallado sobre

los daños causados a la máquina debe ser llenado en el plazo de tres días, desde la fecha de entrega que se

muestra en los documentos de envío. Omcan no tiene ningun recurso por productos dañados que se enviaron

a recoger por terceros.

Antes de utilizar cualquier equipo, siempre lea y familiarizarse con todas las instrucciones de

funcionamiento y seguridad.

Do not use this machine to sharpen serrated knifes.

Children should not use the device as a toy and should neither clean nor use the equipment.

Keep children away from the device and from the power cord.

The appliance must be used by adults adequately trained for the purpose who have carefully read the

contents of this manual.

The package elements (plastic bags, expanded foam, ect.) must not be left in the presence of children

as it can cause a choking hazard.

Electrical safety of this appliance is assured only when it is correctly connected to an e󰀩cient

grounding system as specied by current electrical safety standard.

The installation must be carried out according to these instructions. Incorrect installation can cause

harm to people, animals or properties in respect of which Omcan can not be held responsible.

Omcan can not be held responsible for any damage caused by the lack of grounding of the system.

• Before plugging the appliance make sure that the data on the rating label corresponds to those of the

electrical distribution network.

• The plate is on the bottom of the appliance.

• In case of incompatibility between the socket and plug of the appliance, have the die-casted cord and

plug replaced with another one by an authorized dealer. In case of tampering Omcan cannot be held

responsible either for safety or for warranty.

• Do not connect the appliance to the power supply via external timer or remote control systems.

• The use of any electrical appliance requires the observation of some basic rules. In particular:

- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands.

- Do not use the appliance barefooted.

- Do not pull the power cord or the appliance itself to remove the plug from the socket.

- Do not leave the appliance exposed to the elements (rain, sun, ect.).

- Do not move the appliance while in use.

- The appliance must not be submerged or sprayed with water or any other liquid.

• In case of failure or malfunction, turn it o󰀨 and unplug it. For repairs apply only to Omcan or to a service

center authorized by the same and require the use of genuine spare parts. Failure to comply with the above

may compromise the security of the device.

• To avoid dangerous overheating, it is recommended to extend the power cord to it’s full length and to use

the appliance as recommended in the operation section of this manual.

During functioning, the outlet must be easily accessible in case it’s necessary to disconnect the

appliance. Do not place the appliance under a power socket so that the cord doesn’t interfere with the

machines correct use.

• Do not leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.

• At the end of use always switch o󰀨 and unplug from the socket.

• If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Omcan.

Before performing any operation, turn the appliance o󰀨 and disconnect the power plug from the power

socket.

Do not wear loose-tting clothes particularly with open sleeves; where necessary use suitable

headgear to cover hair.

Make sure the power cord does not protrude from the oor to avoid a trip hazard.

Place the appliance on a at and stable surface.

Do not place the appliance on or near heat sources.

Never immerse the appliance in water.

Do not use the appliance in environments containing explosive, combustible gases or ammable

liquids. Danger of explosion or re.

Do not remove the safety devices and do not modify or exclude the mechanical and electrical safety

devices.

In case of problems with the appliance, contact Omcan. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself,

any repair work carried out by an unauthorized individual will void the warranty.

Omcan is not responsible for any damage cause by improper use of this device resulting from:

• Failure to follow instruction contained in this manual.

• Use not in accordance with specic regulations, in force in the country of installation.

• Changes and unauthorized repairs.

• Use of accessories and not original spare parts.

• Misuse of the machine with di󰀨erent functions from what was intended.

• Incorrect installation.

• Failure to comply with the specic power techniques.

• Insu󰀩cient or incomplete periodic maintenance.

• Use by people under the age of 18.

• Use by people with physical, sensory or mental skills that are reduced.

• Exceeding the loading limits allowed b the machine.

• Use in non food based environments.

• Exceptional events.

1 YEAR PARTS AND LABOUR BENCH WARRANTY

Within the warranty period, contact Omcan Inc. at 1-800-465-0234 to schedule a drop o󰀨 to either

an Omcan authorized service depot in the area, or to an Omcan Service warehouse to repair the

equipment.

Unauthorized maintenance will void the warranty. Warranty covers electrical and part failures, not

improper use.

WARNING:

The packaging components are classied as normal solid urban waste and can therefore be disposed of

without di󰀩culty.

In any case, for suitable recycling, we suggest disposing of the products separately (di󰀨erentiated

waste) according to the current norms.

PACKAGING

Ensure that the packaging is fully intact, if this is not the case, please advise the courier or local dealer

immediately.

In order to remove the unit from it’s packaging, please proceed as follows:

• Open the box and remove the instruction booklet.

• Lift the machine with great care and place on a solid surface.

• Remove the plastic bag that wraps the unit.

• Check that all components specied on the delivery note are present and fully intact.

• Should any faults be noted, such as:

- Dents.

- Controls that are either not working or broken.

- Missing items or other problems.

Please advise the courier, Omcan and service center immediately.

Carefully dispose of packaging components as required by the local standards.

DO NOT DISPERSE THE PACKAGING MATERIALS IN THE ENVIRONMENT.

CORRECT USE

The knife grinder is intended only for sharpening non-serrated knifes. Serrated blades and blades without

handles must not be sharpened.

USING THE MACHINE

• Wash the blades before grinding.

• Place the equipment on a well leveled, smooth, dry and stable surface.

• Turn the knob, located on the side, to adjust the distance of the grinding wheels, depending on whether

there are knives with small or large blades. In this way, it is possible to adjust the angle of the sharpening.

• Place the blade between the two wheels and slide the blade.

• Slide the blade back and forth between the stones without pressing to obtain a professionally sharpened

blade in a few seconds. The sharpening time depends on the wear of the knife edge.

• Repeat all of the previous operations on the next blade.

• Wash the blade after nishing the sharpening process.

• The motor can work for a maximum of 8-10 minutes, after this period of time, the motor must rest for 1 hour

and 30 minutes in order to cool down.

The grinder does not require any special maintenance. To clean the machine body, use only a damp cloth. Do

not spray with water.
