Smart Sensors
Real-time Parallel Output Unit
1. Do not install the product in locations subjected to the following conditions:
・Direct sunlight or near heaters
・Condensation caused by high humidity
・Sudden changes in humidity
・Cold conditions that may cause freezing
・Presence of corrosive or flammable gases
・Direct vibration or shock
・Build-up of dust or metal chips
・Spraying by organic solvents, water, oil or other liquids
・Strong magnetic or electric field
・Reflection of intense light (such as other laser beams or electric arc-welding
machines) or generation of strong electromagnetic waves
2. Power Supply and Wiring
・This product is exclusively for the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD. Connect
it to the RS-232C connector of the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD for use.
・This product will not function or will break down if it is connected to a device
other than the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
・Do not reverse connect the power supply for the load or connect to an AC power supply.
・Open-collector outputs should not be short-circuited.
・High-voltage lines and power lines must be wired separately from this product.
Wiring them together or placing them in the same duct may cause induction,
resulting in malfunction or damage.
・When using a commercially available switching regulator, make sure that the FG
(Frame Ground) terminal is grounded.
・If surge currents are present in the power lines, connect surge absorbers that suit
the operating environment.
・Before connecting/disconnecting peripheral devices, make sure that the Data
Storage Unit is turned OFF. The Data Storage Unit may break down if it is
connected or disconnected while the power is ON.
Precautions for Correct Use
Connect the Real-time Parallel Output Unit to the RS-232C connector of the
controller corresponding to ZS-RPD for use.
The measurements results of the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD are converted
to 40,000 stages of 16-bit binary data before they are output.

Parallel output
Can be set as desired using integer multiples of the measurement cycle.
The update cycle is determined by the following calculation formula:
・(update cycle) = (measurement cycle) x (update coefficient)
The update coefficient parameter can be set by the user as an integer value within the range 1 to 100.
<Ex: When the measurement cycle is 112μs, the settable range becomes 112μs to 11.2 ms.>
Data update

Measurement value data is converted to 40,000 stages of 16-bit binary data before output.

Item Details
<Explanation>
○16-bit parallel data is output continuously according to the above timing.
○The update cycle is determined by the following relational formula.
・(update cycle)=(measurement cycle)×(update coefficient)
(measurement cycle)
: Changes according to the measurement mode and filter setting
conditions. The current measurement cycle can be confirmed by
the following operation on the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
FUN mode → SYSTEM → INFO → CYCLE
The measurement cycle is displayed on the controller
corresponding to ZS-RPD monitor.
(update coefficient): Can be set as an integer within the range 1 to 100 on the
controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
[Setting example 1]
When the measurement cycle is 112μs and the update coefficient
is 5, the update cycle becomes 0.56 ms.
[Setting example 2]
When the measurement cycle is 504μs and the update coefficient
is 20, the update cycle becomes 10.08 ms.
○When all 16-bit parallel data is determined, the GATE signal turns ON (L level in the
case of an NPN output type).
○During the data update period (i.e. data undetermined period), the GATE signal turns
OFF (H level in the case of an NPN output type).
○The time that the GATE signal turns OFF per cycle is fixed at 68
μs.
○The time that the GATE signal turns ON per cycle is calculated as follows:
(GATE signal ON time)=(update cycle)−(GATE signal OFF time)=(update cycle)−68
μ
s
Acquire parallel data during the GATE signal ON period (i.e. during the data determination period).
(1) NPN output type (ZS-RPD11)
The following circuit configuration is used for all 17 outputs
(data outputs (D0 to D15) and GATE signal).
(2) PNP output type (ZS-RPD41)
The following circuit configuration is used for all 17 outputs
(data outputs (D0 to D15) and GATE signal).
The ZS-RPD□□ is exclusively for the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
Do not connect to a device other than the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
The ZS-RPD□□ will not function or will break down if it is connected to a
device other than the controller corresponding to ZS-RPD.
