no earth wire is required.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrician or a
power tool repairer in order to avoid a hazard.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable use a residual current
device (RCD) protected supply Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Note: Double insulation does not take the place of normal safety precautions
when operating this tool. The insulation system is for added protection against
injury resulting from a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool.
Using an Extension Lead
Always use an approved extension lead suitable for the power input of this tool.
Before use, inspect the extension lead for signs of damage, wear and ageing.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Warning! A battery operated tool with individual batteries or a separate
battery pack must be recharged only with the specific charging unit for the
battery. A charging unit that may be suitable for one type of battery may
create a risk of fire when used with another battery type.
• Avoid accidental starting.
• When the tool is not in use keep it away from other metal objects.
Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool OFF,
in an emergency, before operating the tool.
Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this machine for future
reference.
Warning! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in all of the warnings refers to your mains-operated
(corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power
tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for

3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or
under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or
hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position
before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or
carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or
energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A
wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or
long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of
these devices can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it
was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any
power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from
the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate
the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power
tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

BATTERY CHARGING
Battery
The length of service between each charge will depend on the type of work you are
doing. The battery in this tool has been designed to provide maximum trouble free
life. However, like all batteries, it will eventually wear out.
To obtain the longest possible battery life, we suggest the following:
• Store and charge your tool in a cool area. Temperatures above or below normal
room temperature will shorten battery life.
• Never store the tool with the battery in a discharged condition. Recharge them
immediately after they are discharged.
• All batteries gradually lose their charge. The higher the temperature the quicker
they lose their charge. If you store your tool for long periods of time without using
it, recharge the battery every 6 months. This practice will prolong battery life.
This tool has been shipped in a low charge condition and should be fully charged prior
to use.
Plug the 230-240V charger adaptor (7) into an appropriate AC
power outlet. Connect the AC Adaptor charger plug (6) into the
charging socket (5) of the pruner and switch on the mains power.
LEDs no.1 and 2 will not be illuminated, LED no.3 will be
illuminated red whilst charging.
The battery will take approximately 5 hours to charge. When the
charging process has been completed LED lights 1, 2 & 3 will be
illuminated green. Battery charging may take up to 7 hours due
to the level of charge left in the battery and state of the ambient temperature.
NOTE: The charge indicator LEDs (4) will always be illuminated when the charger is
plugged in and turned on. The state of charge indicator indicates the charge of the pruner.
Condition Colour of LED's LED's Illuminated
Fully Charged Green 1-Green, 2-Green, 3-Green
66% Charged Green 1-Not illuminated, 2-Green, 3-Green
33% Charged Green 1 Not illuminated, 2-Not illuminated, 3-Green
Low Charge Red 1-Not illuminated, 2-Not illuminated 3-Red
When Charging Red 1-Not illuminated, 2-Not illuminated 3-Red
It is also normal for the body of the pruner to heat when charging.
Initial Charge
Charge the pruner for 5–7 hours then use it until it runs down and only slowly operates.
Recharge for 5–7 hours again.
Caution: This charger does not automatically turn off when the battery is fully
charged. Please take care not to leave the tool on the charger turned on.
Switch off the charger at the mains when charging is complete.
NOTE: The charger indicator LED (4) will be illuminated red when the charger is
plugged in charging the pruner. The charger indicator LED (4) will turn green on all 3
LED lights when the pruner is fully charged.

PRUNING TIPS
10
Pruning can be done all year round. It is advisable to prune lightly when the
shrub/plant is in full bloom or in its peak. Prune more heavily when the plant is less
active and dormant.
Types of pruning
Tip pruning
• Regular tip pruning of new growth should be carried out when plants or shrubs are
at a young age ideally seedlings or rooted cutting stage.
• For higher results tip pruning is best after flowering and during the season. If you
prune too late in the season this affects and reduces your bloom.
• Tip pruning increases your flowers and creates bushier plants
General pruning
• When removing unwanted growth ensure you make clean
cuts that are angled away from the buds. Prune parallel to
existing branches and leaf nodes to encourage new growth
(Fig. 5).
• Each plant is different, slow growing plants will require only
light pruning, fast growing plants will require more frequent
pruning to keep them healthy.
• Ensure you prune all parts of the plant at the same time as this ensures that there
is an even and consistent growth.
Screens and hedges
•Light pruning is recommended for all screens and hedge plants. Pruning on a regular
basis promotes and maintains dense growth.
Pruning to encourage flowering
•After flowers have had their full bloom it is then recommended to prune to
promote more flowers next season. All dead flowers should be removed as they
drain the plant. This then prevents the plant possibly going to seed.
Pruning to decrease rapid growth
• To minimise new growth on shrubs and plants cut flush with the stem of the
shrub/tree. This also assists if you want to create a topiary look and train your plant
or shrub.
Pruning to repair damage
• If severe weather conditions have damaged your plants or shrub, it is in the plants
best interests to be pruned to help reinstate its condition.
•If any insects have infected your plants/shrubs, prune back the affected areas to
assist with new growth.
Fig. 5

MAINTENANCE
11
• After each use it is recommended you disinfect the blades by using
methylated spirits. These help prevent the spread of disease to other plants
and shrubs the next time you are pruning.
• If the enclosure of the tool requires cleaning do not use solvents but a moist
soft cloth only. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part
of the tool into a liquid.
Warning! Ensure that the lock-off switch and trigger are not accidentally
depressed during cleaning/maintenance.
Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused
by repair of the pruner by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the pruner.
