INTRODUCTION
3
Congratulations on purchasing the Ozito Line Trimmer. We
aim to provide quality tools at an affordable price. We hope
you will enjoy using this line trimmer for many years.
Your Ozito Line Trimmer LTP-200 has been designed for
trimming lawn edges and grass around shrubs and trees.
This product is intended for DIY use only.
Warning! When using mains-powered tools, basic safety precautions,
including the following, should always be followed to reduce risk of fire,
electric shock, personal injury and material damage.
Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool
off, in an emergency, before operating the tool.
Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this machine for
future reference.
The electric motor has been designed for 230V and 240V only. Always check that
the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
Note: The supply of 230V and 240V on Ozito tools are interchangeable for
Australia and New Zealand.
This tool is double insulated in accordance with AS/NZS 3100: 2002;
therefore no earth wire is required.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an electrician or a power
tool repairer in order to avoid a hazard.
Note: Double insulation does not take the place of normal safety precautions
when operating this tool. The insulation system is for added protection against
injury resulting from a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool.
Using an Extension Lead
Always use an approved extension lead suitable for the power input of this tool.
The type of extension cords used shall not be lighter than ordinary polyvinylchloride
sheathed flexible cord. Before use, inspect the extension lead for signs of damage,
wear and ageing. Replace the extension lead if damaged or defective.
When using an extension lead on a reel, always unwind the lead completely. Use
of an extension lead not suitable for the power input of the tool or which is
damaged or defective may result in a risk of fire and electric shock.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Warning! Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below
may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term “Power Tool”
in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1) WORK AREA
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power
tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for
outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) Recommendation that the appliance should be supplied with a residual
current device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30mA.
3) PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a
power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as
dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before
plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A
wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in
personal injury.
LTP-200 Manual.qxd 9/11/09 5:16 PM Page 5

5
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or
long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection
facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these
devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate
for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any
power tool that can not be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive
safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools, unplugged & out of the reach of children and do
not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with
these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of
power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
5) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool
is maintained.
b) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

OPERATION
Before starting
Before use, check that the tool is in good working order and that the length of the
trimmer line is correct, as follows:
1. Ensure the switch is in the off position and disconnect the cable plug from the
mains supply.
2. Examine the general condition of the tool. Inspect the guard, switch, cordset and
extension cord. Check for loose screws, misalignment, binding of moving parts,
improper mounting, broken parts and any other condition that may affect its safe
operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs during operation, turn the line
trimmer off immediately and have the problem corrected.
3. Ensure that you are on a flat surface and have secure footing.
4. Check that the line touches or goes beyond the edge of the guard.
Increasing the cutting line
1. Before starting ensure the cutting line is the
correct length. Pull the cutting line to the edge
of the safety guard (9) (Fig. 5).
2. If the line is to short push down on the bump
knob (9) and at the same time pull the line out
so that it extends a few centimetres past the
edge of the guard (Fig. 5).
3. Remove the cover from the line cutting blade (12).
4. To increase the cutting line length during
operation tap the bump knob (11) onto the ground, preferably a hard surface. Do
not hold the bump knob on the ground as this may overload the unit.
Note: Only remove the cover from the line cutting blade (12) when all operational
checks have been carried out.
Replace the line cutting blade cover when the line trimmer is not in use.
Starting the trimmer
1. Feed an extension cord through the slot at the
rear of the main handle (1). Loop the extension
cord over the cord retainer (8) (Fig. 6) and
connect the extension cord to the line trimmer
cordset.
2. Connect the extension cord to a power outlet.
3. Press and hold the On/Off switch (3) (Fig. 6).
4. To switch off, release the switch.
Warning! The tool runs for approximately 5
seconds after it has been switched off.

OPERATION (cont.)
9
Trimming
Warning! Make sure that the work area is free of rocks, debris, lines and other
foreign objects.
1. Start the trimmer before approaching the grass to be cut.
2. After each bump the bump line feed mechanism releases 2mm of cutting line
from each side of the spool.
3. Cut the grass by moving the trimmer from right to left and proceed slowly,
keep the trimmer inclined forwards at an angle of about 30°. Light cuts are
better than heavy cuts as they allow the cut grass to fall away from the spool
preventing the grass from clogging the spool.
4. Start cutting nearest the mains power source and work away from it to make it
easier to avoid the extension cord.
5. High grass should be cut in layers always beginning from the top. Do not cut
damp or wet grass. Do not overload your trimmer.
6. If you push the line too close to hard edges/objects it will break off at the
eyelet and the line will retract into the spool. You will have to manually
remove the spool cover and re-thread the line.
7. To prevent the line from breaking and retracting ensure you approach the
edge/object slowly and let the TIP of the line do the work.
8. Feed out some line periodically to prevent the line from retracting into the
spool.
9. Watch out for kickbacks in the event of impact with hard objects.
10. After finishing the cutting operation, keep the head close to ground level,
release the switch and allow the motor to come to a complete standstill.
Place the trimmer on the ground, switch off and remove the cable plug from
the mains supply.
Note: Periodically clean out the grass between the spool and the rim of the guard
to prevent the tool from vibrating.
Replacing the spool & line (9)
Warning! Before assembly, make sure that
the tool is switched off and unplugged.
1. Holding the line trimmer upside down.
Rotate the spool cover anti-clockwise to the
unlock position. Lift off the spool cover (Fig. 7).
Note: Ensure you do not misplace the spring.
2. Remove the empty spool. Fig. 7

Fitting a new pre-wound spool
1. Thread the ends of the line on the new spool through the eyelets in the spool
cover (Fig. 8).
2. Holding the line trimmer upside down fit the
spring into the spool housing assembly, push
the spool and spool cover back into the spool
housing. Rotate clockwise to lock the spool in
position (Fig. 9).
Note: Gently lift the spool cover to ensure it is
fitted securely..
3. Ensure that the blade cover is removed from the line cutting blade (12). The
cutting blade is used to control the length of the line.
Winding new line onto a spool
You may wind new cutting line onto an empty spool. Cutting line is available from
any Bunnings Warehouse. Only use cutting line that is 1.2mm in diameter, using
different diameter line can result in poor performance and damage the motor.
1. Remove the empty spool from the line trimmer as described in "Replacing the
spool & line".
2. Remove any remaining cutting line from the spool.
3. Divide the line evenly so you find the half-way point and fit the centre of the
line into the groove (Fig. 10a).
4. Wind the cutting line onto the spool, ensure you wind the line on neatly and in
layers (Fig. 10b). Do not cross the line as this will stop it from feeding.
5. Feed both ends of the line through the holes in the spool cover (one on either
side).
