This operator's manual has important
information for the use and safe operation
of this machine. Read this manual
carefully before starting the machine.
Keep this manual and tell all operators to
read this manual. If you do not follow the
instructions, you can cause an injury or
damage equipment. Carefully inspect all
components to ensure that there is no
concealed freight damage. If damage is
discovered, file a "CONCEALED
DAMAGE REPORT" immediately with the
delivering carrier. The content of this
manual are based on the latest product
information available at the time of
publication. Pacific Steamex reserves the

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1) You must read the instruction manual carefully before using the machine.
2) Make sure all labels are fastened to the machine.
3) Do not use the machine near flammable materials and vapors.
4) Do not use acid solutions that could damage the machine.
5) Do not stop and leave the machine on ramp.
6) During any maintenance operation disconnect the electric power supply from the
machine.
7) Do not touch the rotating parts when the machine is in operation.
8) Do not operate the machine unless it is completely assembled.
9) Keep the electrical parts of the machine dry. Do not wash the machine with direct
water jets or high pressure. Store the machine in a dry location.
10) The machine must be grounded. If it should malfunction, grounding provides a path of
least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This machine is
equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug.
The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
11) Avoid damage to the machine’s electrical cord. Always lift the machine over the cord.
Do not run the machine over the cord.
12) Maintenance and repairs on this machine must be done by a qualified or authorized
person.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of
electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to
whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the machine if it
will not fit theoutlet; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. The machine is
designed to use a nominal 120 Volt AC circuit, with a grounding lug.

MACHINE PREPARATION
1) UNPACKING THE MACHINE
a) Take off the outer packaging.
b) The machine is fastened to
the pallet with wooden
wedges that block the wheels.
Remove wedge and tie down
straps.
c) Pull the machine off the pallet.
2) SQUEEGEE ASSEMBLY
a) Assemble the squeegee as
shown in the figure to the
right. The squeegee lever
should be in its up position.
b) Insert the locking pin into the
squeegee stud bolt to secure
the squeegee in place.
c) Push the squeegee hose over
the squeegee vacuum port.
The hose should be located to
the right of the squeegee lift
cable.

3) ADJUSTING SQUEEGEE HEIGHT
The height from floor to squeegee should be
adjusted based on blade wear. Rotate the
knobs counter-clockwise to lift squeegee and
clockwise to lower it.
NOTE: Rotate the right and left adjusting
knobs until the squeegee is positioned parallel
to the floor.
4) ADJUSTING SQUEEGEE INCLINATION
During operation the rear squeegee blade is
most efficient when bent backwards roughly
3/16ths of an inch along its entire length. To
increase the blade bending in the center of the
squeegee, tilt the squeegee body backward by
turning the adjuster screw counter-clockwise.
Conversely, turn the adjuster screw clockwise
to increase the bending at the outside edges
of squeegee blade.
5) INSTALLING THE SPLASH GUARD
The splash guard should be installed as
shown in the image to the right.

6) BRUSH INSTALLATION
a) Lift the brush base by pressing on the
foot pedal.
b) Place the brushes under the base.
Align the brush lugs with the holes in
the brush plate. Insert the brushes
into the plate and turn each brush so
the lugs are pushed toward their
retaining springs, until locked. The
image at the lower right shows the
direction of rotation for installing the
right brush. The left brush is rotated
in the opposite direction.
7) SOLUTION WATER
Fill the solution tank with clean water at a
temperature of no more than 50°C
(120°F). Add the proper concentration of
liquid detergent by following the
manufacture’s instructions. Excess foam
in the recovery tank can damage the
vacuum motor. Use the minimum
amount of detergent that is necessary.

8) HOSE CONNECTIONS
Open the lid and confirm the following
connections are secure:
a) The vacuum cover (2) is securely
attached, turn clockwise to tighten.
b) The vacuum hose (1) is attached.
c) The hose cuff on the vacuum hose (on
the back of the machine) is inserted.
9) POWER CORD OPERATION
The total length of cord is 65 feet. Pull the
cord to the length needed. It should lock to
length. If the cord does not automatically
lock, pull out the cord from 2.5 to 15 inches
and then release the cord. The cord will
now be locked. Plug the machine's power
cord into a properly grounded outlet.

MACHINE OPERATION
1) Turn on the brush motor switch (1).
2) Turn on the vacuum motor switch (2).
3) Item (6) is the solution flow indicator. When
the indicator is illuminated, cleaning solution
is flowing. To stop the solution flow raise
lever (3) to the off position.
4) Adjust the flow rate of the cleaning solution
with lever (3). There should be enough
solution to wet the floor uniformly, but not so
much thatit gets past the splash guard.
Remember that the correct solution quantity
depends on the type of floor, the dirt level and
the scrubbing speed.
5) Release the foot pedal and lower the brush
base.
6) Lower the squeegee using lever (4).
7) The brushes turn by pulling on levers (5) until
they touch the handle grip. During the first
few yards of operation, check that the
quantity of the cleaning solution is sufficient to
wet the floor and that the squeegee dries the
floor surface.
8) OVERFILL PROTECTION
The machine is equipped with a float that stops
the vacuum air flow when the recovery tank is
full. When this occurs, empty the recovery tank
by removing the plug on the drain hose and
empty machine into an approved waste drain.
WARNING: Use gloves for protection from
contact with dangerous solution.

After finishing work and before any type of
maintenance is done, it is necessary to do the
following:
1) Close the water valve with lever (1).
2) Raise the brush base with the foot pedal.
3) Lift the squeegee with lever (2). Note: The
squeegee blades can be damaged if the
squeegee is not raised during storage or
transport.
4) Turn off the brush switch (3).
5) Turn off the vacuum motor switch (4).
6) Disconnect the machine's power cord from the
electrical outlet.
7) Inspect the power cord and plug for nicks, cuts
and any other damage. Report any damage
to your service manger for repair.
8) Clean the power cord with rag. Make sure
there is no water or dirt on the power cord.
9) Pull out the power cord a small distance and
then release it. The power cord will retract
automatically.

CLEANING THE RECOVERY TANK
10)Empty the recovery tank by removing the plug
from the drain hose.
WARNING: Use gloves for protection from
contact with dangerous solution.
11)Lift the cover of the recovery tank.
12)Take off the vacuum cap (1) by rotating it
counter clockwise.
13)Remove the filter and its housing.
14)Rinse the tank with clean water.
CLEANING THE VACUUM FILTER
15)Lift the cover.
16)Take off the vacuum cap by rotating it counter
clockwise.
17)Remove the filter and its housing.
18)Use water to clean the walls and the bottom
of the filter.
19)Remove the filter and its housing.
20)Wash all components thoroughly.
21)Reassemble repeating the above operations
in reverse.

CLEANING THE SQUEEGEE
To obtain the best drying results, keep the
squeegee clean. To clean the squeegee it is
necessary to:
22)Remove the vacuum hose from the
squeegee.
23)Loosen the knobs (1).
24)Clean the inside of the squeegee thoroughly.
25)Clean the squeegee blade thoroughly.
26)Reassemble.
REPLACING THE SQUEEGEE BLADES
Check the squeegee blades for wear and if
necessary, change them. To replace the
squeegee blades:
27)Remove the squeegee vacuum hose from its
port.
28)Remove the locking pin from the stud bolt.
29)Remove the squeegee from its support.
30)Loosen the wing nuts (1) that lock the rubber
blades and take them off.
31)Replace the blades.
32)To reassemble the squeegee, repeat the
above operations in reverse.
BRUSH / PAD DRIVER REMOVAL
To remove the brushes / pad drivers:
33)Lift the brush base with the foot pedal.
34)Turn off brush switch (1).
35)Rotate each brush until they come off the
brush plate. The lower right figure shows the
direction for releasing the right brush. Rotate
in the opposite direction to release the left
brush.

WEEKLY MACHINE MAINTENANCE
CLEANING THE SQUEEGEE HOSE
To obtain the best drying results, keep the
squeegee hose clean. To clean the squeegee
hose it is necessary to:
36)Take off the vacuum hose from its vacuum
port on the squeegee.
37)Remove the other end of the vacuum hose
from the recovery tank.
38)Wash the inner part of the hose with clean
water.
39)Reassemble.
WARNING: Do not wash the hose that goes from
the vacuum motor to the vacuum cap.
SOLUTION TANK CLEANING
40)Remove the fill cap of the solution tank.
41)Rinse with clear water.
42)Remove the drain cap (1) and empty the
solution tank.
WARNING: Use gloves for protection from
contact with dangerous solution.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
1) INSUFFICIENT WATER TO THE BRUSHES
a) Make sure the water valve is open (lever 1).
b) Confirm that there is water in the solution tank.
2) THE MACHINE DOES NOT CLEAN SATISFACTORILY
a) Check the condition of the brushes or pads and replace
them if necessary.
b) The brushes should be replaced when the bristles reach a
length of 15mm (5/8 inches).
3) THE SQUEEGEE DOES NOT DRY THE FLOOR WELL
a) Check that the squeegee blades are clean.
b) Adjust the inclination of the squeegee (see "MACHINE PREPARATION" section 4).
c) Confirm the vacuum hose is correctly fitted into its port in therecovery tank.
d) Remove the entire vacuum assembly and clean it.
e) Replace the blades if worn.
f) Check that the vacuum motor switch is on.
g) Check the squeegee height adjustment (see "MACHINE PREPARATION" section 3).
4) POWER CORD WILL NOT EXTEND
a) If the ratchet is locked, please contact a service center.
5) POWER CORD WILL NOT RETRACT
a) If the ratchet is locked, please contact a service center.
b) If the return spring inside the reel is broken, please contact a service center.
6) POWER CORD WILL NOT LOCK TO A SET LENGTH
a) If the ratchet is locked, please contact a service center.
7) EXCESSIVE FOAM PRODUCTION
a) Check that a low foaming detergent has been used. If required, add a small quantity of
antifoam liquid to the recovery tank. More foam is generated when a floor is lightly soiled.
Use less detergent if this is the case.

WARRANTY POLICY
PACIFIC LIMITED WARRANTY
The Pacific Proteus 210E has been manufactured, tested and inspected in accordance with specific
engineering requirements. This machine is WARRANTED to be free from defects in workmanship and
materials for periods as follows from the date of purchase.
Ten (10) Years Parts, One (1) Year Labor – Polyethylene Components
Five (5) Years Parts, One (1) Year Labor – Main Frame
Two (2) Years Parts, One (1) Year Labor – Brush Drive Motors
One (1) Year Parts & Labor – All other components unless excluded below
Travel time for warranty repair is authorized for a period of ninety (90) days following the date of sale to the
end user, with a maximum of three (3) hours per claim.
This warranty extends to the original user/purchaser and only when used, operated and maintained in
accordance with Pacific Operating and Maintenance instructions.
This warranty does not apply to certain wear parts and accessories of the machine such as electrical cords,
carbon motor brushes, floor brushes, belts, hoses, tools, squeegee blades, etc., nor does it apply to damage
or failure caused by improper use, abuse or neglect. Warranty credit of return parts including motors, pumps,
etc., is subject to incoming inspection of those items.
To secure repair under this warranty, the following procedure should be taken:
1. After the expiration of the ninety (90) day travel time warranty period, the customer is responsible for
warranty travel payment for the inoperative machine or warranted parts must be delivered to the authorized
dealer with shipping and delivery charges prepaid. If unable to locate the Dealer, you may contact Pacific
at the address listed herein for the location of the nearest Pacific repair center or agent or for other
instructions pertaining to your warranty difficulty.
2. Upon compliance with the above warranty procedure, all warranted repairs will be completed at no
additional charge or cost to the user.
3. Only Pacific or its authorized dealers and agents may make no charge warranty repairs on this product.
All others do so at their own risk.
This warranty limits Pacific liability to the repair of the product and/or warranted parts replacement and does
not include incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of a Pacific machine whether defective
or not.
This warranty is in lieu of all other expressed or implied warranties and is extended to the original
purchaser/user.
