For Your Safety
To prevent severe injury and loss of life, read this section carefully before using the product
to ensure proper and safe operation.
• The following types of symbols are used to describe the level of injury and/or damage
that may occur if the product is used incorrectly.
• The following types of symbols are used to classify and describe the type of instructions
to be observed. (The following symbols are examples.)

WARNING
Denotes a potential hazard that could result in
serious injury or death.
• Do not install the product near medical devices, and do not connect it to the
same power line as a medical device. If high-frequency signals from the
product affect the medical equipment, it may cause malfunction and
accidents.
• Keep the screws, fixing brackets, USB connector cap, LAN connector cap,
RS-485 terminal, and terminal cover out of reach of children to prevent
swallowing.
• Do not damage the terminals.
• Do not get the product wet.
• Do not install or inspect the product with wet hands.
• Do not touch the product during a thunderstorm.
• Do not disassemble or alter the product.
• Do not put metal or foreign objects inside the product.
• Do not drop the product or subject it to strong impacts.
• Do not overload the AC outlets and extension cords.
• Do not disassemble the product.
• Be sure to attach the terminal cover. High voltage can cause fire or electric
shocks.

• Install, inspect, and repair the product only after disconnecting it from power.
• After installation, ensure the area around the product is safe.
• Only qualified electrical workers may install, inspect, and repair the product.
• Fasten the terminal screw firmly with the appropriate torque.
• Install the product in the distribution box.
• Cut the circuit breaker immediately if the product emits smoke, overheats, or
produces abnormal smells or noises. Use a certified circuit breaker with a
contact gap of 3 mm (0.12 in.) or more, and install it near this product.
CAUTION
Denotes hazards that could result in minor injury or
damage to the product.
• Do not install the product in a location that is subject to large amounts of
water, humidity, dust, or soot (such as in a kitchen or near a humidifier), nor in
a location where corrosive gases (such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, or
chlorine) are present.
• Do not install the product in a location that is unstable or subject to heavy
vibrations.
• Keep away from fire.
• Disconnect the power when the product will not be used for an extended
period of time, or when the product will be inspected.
• Disconnect the power if the product falls or becomes damaged.
• Be sure to secure the product with all 3 of the fixing brackets.
• Confirm the strength of the mounting location. Consider whether the
mounting location is strong enough to hold the product for an extended
period of time. A weakening of the mounting location may lead to the product
falling. The mounting location must be able to support a force of 12.26 N
(1.25 kgf) or more at each screw position. If the mounting location does not
provide sufficient support, it must be reinforced to provide sufficient support,
or falling prevention measures must be taken. If the product will be installed
150 cm or higher off the floor, be sure to take falling prevention measures.
• When mounting the product, ensure that the metal parts of the product, such
as the fixing screws, do not come into contact with other metal parts.
• If you stop using the product, remove the product from the distribution box to
eliminate the risk of falling.
• Ensure that the environment inside the distribution box meets the
temperature and humidity requirements.

Precautions
• This product is for indoor use only.
• Panasonic is not responsible for any loss of data and other direct or indirect damage
caused by external factors such as power failures or noise on electrical wiring.
• This product may be a source of electrical interference for the following devices:
–Other PLC devices that use different transmission methods
–Remote controlled devices using radio waves
–Short wave radios, lights with dimmers, touch lamps, wireless mice, etc.
• If this device interferes with other products, try the following countermeasures:
–If this device interferes with short wave radios:
• Keep the short wave radio away from the wall.
• Use a different frequency.
• Certain electrical devices emit electrical noise. If this noise is passed on to the electrical
wiring, it may interfere with the performance, speed, and reliability of the product. We
recommend connecting an electrical noise filter to noise emitting devices.
Note
• The following devices are most likely to emit noise:
–Other PLC devices that use different transmission methods
–Battery chargers (including cell phone chargers), AC adaptors (for modems, routers,
laptop PCs, etc.), hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, power drills, lights with dimmers, and
touch lamps.
• Do not connect the product to a power outlet with a noise filter or a surge protector.
• This product transmits data over existing electrical wiring. Electrical noise, the length of
the wiring, and the specification of the circuit breaker may be causes of interference.
Also, if there is strong radio equipment nearby, it may cause low speeds or disrupt
communication.
• If the wiring from the product is too long, data communication may be affected.
• Do not connect the product to a backup power supply device, such as a UPS
(uninterruptable power supply).
• Keep the product away from devices with a magnet. They may interfere with the product.
• Do not place the product near air conditioners or heaters. They may damage the product.
• Graphical symbols on the product.

MASTER indicator: Indicates whether the product is a MASTER or TERMINAL.
LAN indicator: Indicates the status of the LAN connection.
PLC indicator: Indicates the status of the PLC link.

The state of each indicator
MASTER indicator On (green)*1 Operating as PRIMARY MASTER.
On (orange)*1 Operating as SECONDARY MASTER.
Off Operating as TERMINAL.
LAN indicator Blinking Connected to the LAN.
PLC indicator On (green)*1 Connected to a PLC device.
On (orange)*1 Connected to power, but not connected to
a PLC device.
Off Power is not connected.
*1 After turning on the power, the LED lights steady for 8 hours, and then blinks after that.
If you press the SET UP button, the LED lights steady for 1 minute, and then blinks after
that.
Connection of power supply
Follow this procedure to wire the product to the distribution box.
1. Remove the terminal cover.
2. Wire the L phase of the power line to terminal L ( ) and the N phase to terminal N
( ).

• Applicable AWG value is 20 - 14. Use certified or equivalent wires for the electric
wires of this product.
3. Attach the terminal cover.

Appendix
Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
None of the
indicators light
or blink.
Power is not connected. Connect a power source.
The product might be
malfunctioning.

Due to the wiring conditions

effects of noise, the PLC signal is
not reaching its destination.
Reevaluate the installation
locations, or add another PLC
adapter (relay unit) to the power
wires on the transmission route.
The LAN
indicator does
not light.
A LAN cable is not connected. Check the connection of the LAN
cable.
The network device is not turned
on.
Turn on the network device.
The wired connection function of
a network device is not enabled.
Disable the wireless connection
function of the device, and
enable the wired connection
function.
The PLC
indicator lights
red.
The product's operation might be
frozen.
Either turn off the power and
then turn it on again, or press
and hold the RESET button for at
least 1 second.

Factory Reset
This function will erase all of the settings in this product and initialize it to the factory default
settings.
1. Connect the product to a power source.
2. Press and hold the CLEAR button for more than 3 seconds.
Notice
• After the indicators light, wait at least 30 seconds before terminating power to the
product.
