Overview
This document explains how to mount the PAX A3S terminal to its extension pole.
Prerequisites
Befgore you begin mounting your PAX A35 terminal on its extension pole, make sure you have all the
necessary materials:
•PAX A35 terminal already connected to the multi-function cable
•Terminal mounting plate
•Extension pole with hardware
•Counter mounting hardware
•Phillips head screwdriver
•Robertson head screwdriver
•Drill with 11/64" bit (optional)
Hardware Retrieval
The extension pole ships with several bags of hardware:
•A bag in the pole shaft with 3 screws to secure the shaft, 2 mounting brackets, and 4 screws for
the mounting brackets.
•One screw supplied with terminal support plate.
•A bag with 2 8-inch nylon ties, 2 nylon tie fasteners, and 2 5/8" #8 screws.
Collect all the hardware and keep it close to your work area.
Installing the Terminal to the Extension Pole
1. If necessary, remove the rubber bands from the pole shaft to retrieve the hardware bag inside
the shaft.

2. Use the screw supplied with the support plate to secure the plate to the back of the terminal
using the Phillips head screwdriver. Be sure to center the plate and terminal so that the
mounting aligns with the hole in the plate as shown below:
3. At the rear of the pole, push the component in the direction of the arrow until it rests on the
other part and hold this position.
4. While holding the component in position, turn the pole over and align the plate affixed to the
terminal with the opening on the front of the pole to match the parts together as shown below:

5. Release the component on the back of the pole and give the pole a gentle shake; the terminal
and pole should be securely assembled with no discernable terminal movement.
6. Turn the pole over to access the open sleeve and thread the terminal cable as shown below:
7. Using the 2 mounting brackets and 4 silver screws supplied in the pole sleeve, use the Phillips
screwdriver to secure the cable in the sleeve as shown below:
NOTE: Be sure to match the orientation of the mounting brackets shown in the image above.
8. After the mounting brackets are correctly installed, gently pull on the cable. If the brackets are
securely screwed on, the cable should not move.

9. Close the pole sleeve using the three black screws supplied in the sleeve, screwing the 3 screws
all the way in using a Phillips screwdriver.
10. When complete, the result should resemble the following image:
Attach the Terminal Cable to the Counter
To avoid the risk of disconnecting the terminal's Ethernet network or power supply connections, we
recommend securing the cable under the counter. The necessary hardware comes with the pole and
includes the following parts:
•2 8-inch nylon ties
•2 fasteners for the nylon ties
•2 5/8" #8 screws
1. Use a pen or pencil to mark the spot under the countertop where you want to install the
fasteners.
2. Using an 11/64" bit, drill a pilot hole about 1/4" deep on the marks.

3. Use the Robertson screwdriver to screw the brackets into the countertop using the #8 screws
supplied.
4. Slide the nylon ties through the fastener channels.
5. Secure the PAX A35 cable under the countertop by tightening the nylon ties. After securing the
cable, you can cut off the excess nylon ties. The result should resemble like the following
images:
