POWER SUPPLY
AC operation
BeforepluggingtheAC/DCadaptorintotheACsocket,besurethevoltageiscorrect.
Note:
Inordertodisconnecttheunitfromthemainscompletely,theACadaptorshouldberemovedfromthemainssocketcompletely.
Incaseofmalfunctionduetoelectrostaticdischarge,removeandreconnectthepowersupply.
Note:
Never use the AC/DC adaptor in rainy or moist conditions to prevent short circuit or moist from entering the radio. Under
those conditions only use battery power and keep the rubber cover closed.
Battery operation
1. Toopenthebatterycompartment,rstremovetherubberfootatthebottomoftheapparatusbyturningitinanti-clockwisedirection.
2. Loosenthescrewofthedoorbyunscrewitinanti-clockwisedirection.
3. Insert 6 x AM3/AA/LR6 NiMH or alkaline batteries with the correct polarity into the compartment. Close the battery door and
 makesurethescrewisfastened.
 Closerubberfootwelltopreventmoistordustfromenteringthecompartmentbyturningitinclockwisedirectionontotheunit.
4. When you choose to use NiMH batteries, switch the battery select button to NiMH/On. The radio will charge the batteries when
 itisconnectedtoACpower.Whenthebatteryisbeingcharged,thebatteryiconwillashonthedisplay.
5. When you choose to use alkaline batteries, switch the battery select button to alkaline / Off.
6. Iftheunitisnottobeusedforanyextendedperiodoftime,itisrecommendedthatthebatteriesareremovedfromtheradio.
TheapproximatepowerlevelofthebatteriesisdisplayedintheLCDdisplayoftheradiobythebatteryicon(4levelsintotal).When
thepowerlevelisverylow,onlyonelevelofthebatteryiconisshownonthedisplay.Thebatteriesshouldthenbereplacedsoonto
continuenormaloperationoftheradio.

Notes:
Dangerofexplosionifbatteryisincorrectlyreplaced.Replaceonlywiththesameorequivalenttype.
Donotexposethebatteriestoexcessiveheatsuchassunshine,reorthelike.
Batteriesshouldnotbedisposedofbyincinerationandwithhouseholdwaste.
Disposablebatteriesshouldbetakentoasuitablerecyclingcentreifpossible.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON USING RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
1. Set the charge switch next the battery compartment to the “charge on NiMH” position.
2. Putthebatteriesinthecompartmentwhilstpayingattentiontothecorrectpolarityofthebatteries.
3. First use:Chargenewbatteriesinonecontinuous,uninterrupted,chargeuntiltheyarefull.
 Thisrstchargewilltakelongerthannormal.Forlongerbatterylifeitisadvisedtoalwaysrechargeinonecontinuous, 
 uninterruptedchargeuntilbatteriesarefullandnotrechargeifthebatteriesarestillfull.
4. Newbatterieswillonlyreachtheirfullcapacityaftersometimeofuse(severalcharge–dischargecycles).
5. Leavethecompletegroupofbatteriesinplaceinsidetheradioanddonotusethese
 batteriesorafewofthemforotherpurposes.Thiswillresultinamixof(fully)chargedand(partly)emptybatteries.Thiscan
seriously damage the batteries and radio when recharged.
6. Itisadvisedtoonlychargebatteriesatroomtemperaturesbetween5degreesC–35degreesC.
 Inlowerorhighertemperaturesfullchargecannotbeachieved.
7. Dependingonthecapacityofthebatteries,chargingfrom“empty”to“full”cantakeseveralhours.
8. Do not charge batteries when the radio is hot or exposed to heat or heat sources.
9. Itisadvisedtocleanthemetalcontactsofthebatteriesandofthechargerinsidetheradioe.g.withacontact-sprayfromtimeto
time.
10. Donotuseamixofoldandnewrechargeablebatteries.
11. Donotuseamixofrechargeableandnon-rechargeablebatteries.
12. Donotuseamixoffullandemptyrechargeablebatteries.
13. DonotusebatteriesthathaveadifferentmAhcapacity.

15. Battery level indication is an approximate indication only and can vary with battery type used.

USING THE RADIO FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Insertbatteriesandplacetheradioonaatsurface.
2. PlugtheAC/DCpoweradaptorintotheACsocketifdesired.
3. Carefullyextendtheantennalocatedatthebackoftheradio.Adjusttheantennasoitisverticallyextendingabovetheradio.
4. Theradiowillstartupandthedisplaywillshow“FMRADIO”forafewseconds.Thentheradiowillautomaticallyperforman
 autoscanoftheFMwaveband.
5. When the scan is completed, the 10 strongest FM stations will be stored as presets. The radio will switch to standby; the display
 willshow“Goodbye”forafewseconds.
FM RADIO MODE
Seeking station
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Ifthisisthersttimetoswitchon,theradiowillbeinFMRADIOmodeandthestationinpreset1willbeplayed.Iftheradiohas
 beenusedbefore,thelastlistenedstationwillbeplayed.
3. To seek station, press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button.Thescanstopsautomaticallywhenitndsastationofsufcient
strength.
4. Afterafewseconds,thedisplaywillupdateandshowstationnameifRDSinformationisbeingreceived.
5. Tondotherstations,presstheTuning Down or Tuning Up button again.
6. To seek station in an opposite direction, press the Tuning Up button(toscanfromlowfrequencytohighfrequency)orpress
the Tuning Down button(toscanfromhighfrequencytolowfrequency).
7. Whenthewavebandendisreached,theradiowillrecommencetuningfromtheoppositewavebandend.
Manual tuning
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Press the SOURCE button to switch to FM RADIO mode.
3. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up buttontoreachtherequiredFMfrequency.Theradiowillchangethefrequencyinsteps
 of50kHz.

4. Adjusttherubberantennatogetthebestreception.IftheradioistunedtoastationofsufcientsignalstrengthwithRDS 
 informationpresent,thedisplaymaychangetoshowthestationname.
5. Whenthewavebandendisreached,theradiowillrecommencetuningfromtheoppositewavebandend.
RDS station service
RDS(RadioDataSystem)isaninformationsystemwhichinaudibledigitalinformationistransmittedinadditiontothenormalFM
radioprogram.WhentheradioisreceivingaRDSstationandthereceptionstrengthissufcient,thestationnamewillappearinthe
display.ItmaytakesometimebeforetheRDSinformationisavailable.
Calling up RDS information
When you are listening to a FM station with RDS system, repeatedly press the SELECT/INFO button to cycle through the i
 nformation.Thiswillonlyfunctionifthereceptionlevelissufcientandclear.
 a.Stationname(PS) Displaysthenameofstationbeinglistenedto.
 b.Programtype(PTY) Displaysthetypeofstationbeinglistenedto,e.g.Pop,Classic,News,etc.
 c.Radiotext(RT) Displaysthemessageaboutthestationbeinglistenedtoastickertext.
 d.Time&date Displaysthecurrenttime(24hourclock)anddate.
 e.Signalstrength(SGLV) Displayssignalstrengthforthestationbeinglistenedto.
Storing preset stations
There are 10 memory presets in the radio.
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Press the SOURCE button to switch to “FM RADIO” mode.
3. Tunetotherequiredstation.
4. Press the MENU button until “MEM STORE” is displayed.
5. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up buttontoselectthedesiredpresetnumber(fromP1toP10).
6. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
7. Repeatstep3and4fortheremainingpresets.
8. Stationsstoredinthepresetmemoriescanbeover-writtenbyfollowingtheaboveprocedure.
9. The“MEMSTORE”functionstaysactiveforabout4seconds.IfnoactionistakentheradiowillreturntoshowingtheRDS
 informationoftheselectedstation.

Recalling preset stations
1. Press the On/Off button to turn on the radio.
2. Press the SOURCE button to switch to “FM RADIO” mode.
3. Press the MENU button until “MEM BROWSE” is displayed.
4. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button.Thedisplaywillshowthestationfrequencyandthepresetnumber.
5. The“MEMBROWSE”functionstaysactiveforabout8second.IfnoactionistakentheradiowillreturntoshowingtheRDS
 informationoftheselectedstation.
AUX IN MODE
A 3.5mm stereo AUX-IN socketisprovidedonthesidebehindtherubbercover,forconnectinganexternalaudiodevicesuchas
MP3playerorCDplayer(notincludedwiththisradio).
1. Connect an audio source to the AUX-IN socket.
2. Press the SOURCE button to select AUX input. Display will show “AUX IN”.
3. Play the external player.
4.Adjustthevolumeofboththeradioandtheplayerforcomfortablelistening.
5.Afteruse,closetherubbercovertopreventmoistordustfromenteringintothesocketsandradio.
Notes: NeverusetheAUX-INsocketinrainyormoistconditionstopreventmoistfromenteringtheradio.Keeptherubbercover
closed under these conditions.
SETTING THE CLOCK
Theclockcanonlybesetwhentheradioisinstandbymode.Ifnobuttonsarepressedfor5seconds,theradiowillexittheclock
setup and the setting is cancelled.
1. Press the MENU button and the display will show “CLOCK SET”.
2. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoenterandthehourdigitsashonthedisplay.

4. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.Theminutedigitsash.
5. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the minute.
6. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.Thedayashes.
7. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the current day.
8. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.Themonthashes.
9. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the current month.
10. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.Theyearashes.
11. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the current year.
12. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
13. The display will then show “synclock on”. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up buttontochooseeither“synclockon”or“synclockoff”.
14. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
15. The display will then show “English”. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to choose among “English”, “Nederlands”,
“Deutsch” and “Français”.
16. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrmandnishsetting.
RDS time synchronization
 If“SYNCLOCKON”isselected.SomeRDSstationstransmitatimesignal.Ifreceptionisgoodandyouhaveselectedthe
“SYNCLOCK ON” option during the time setting, the time will be automatically updated. Time synchronisation can take several
 minutes.TheautomatictimesettingisalwaysactivatedwhentheradioisswitchedfromstandbytoFMbroadcastingand 
receives a RDS station.
SETTING THE ALARM
Thealarmcanonlybesetwhentheradioisinstandbymode.Ifnobuttonsarepressedfor5seconds,theradiowillexitthealarm
setup and the setting is cancelled.
Setting the alarm clock
1. Press the MENU button twice until the display shows “ALARM SET”.
2. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoenterandthehourdigitsashonthedisplay.

3. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the hour.
4. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.Theminutedigitsash.
5. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to set the minute.
6. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
7. The display will then show “ALARM SOURCE”. You may choose either “BUZZER” or “FM RADIO”. Press the Tuning Down or
Tuning Up buttontoselect.If“FMRADIO”isselected,thelastlistenedstationwillbeplayedwhenthealarmrings.
8. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
9. The display will then show “VOL XX”. Press the Tuning Down or Tuning Up button to change the alarm volume.
10. Press the SELECT/INFO buttontoconrm.
Switching on/ off the alarm
1. To switch the alarm on, press the SELECT/INFObuttonandholdfor2seconds.Thealarmiconwillbeshownatthetopleft
 corner.Toswitchthealarmoff,presstheSELECT/INFObuttonagainandholdfor2seconds.Thealarmiconwillbedisappear.
2. Toturnoffthealarmwhenitbuzzes,simplypresstheOn/Off button.
VOLUME & SOUND
To adjust the volume, simply press the Volume Down or Volume Up button when playing the FM radio or in AUX IN mode. The
levelofvolume(from00to40theloudest)willbeshownontheLCDDisplay.
Note:Whenplayingonbatteries;iftheenergylevelofthebatteriesistoolow,soundwilldistortonhighervolume.
360 DEGREES SOUND
TheuniqueNeodymiumspeakerlocatedontopoftheradioprovidesa360degreessoundimage.Suggestion:Ifpreferred,placethe
radioinacornerorclosetoawallforadditionalsoundreection.
BACKLIGHT
Whentheradioisinoperationorinstandby,pressinganybuttonwillilluminatetheLCDdisplayforapprox.10seconds.

Remarque :
N’utilisez jamais l’adaptateur AC/DC sous la pluie ni dans un endroit très humide, de façon à éviter tout risque de court-

3. Insérez6pilesAM3/AA/LR6NiMHoualcalinesdanslelogementenrespectantlapolarité(+)et(-).Refermezensuitelecouvercle
 dulogementetresserrezlavisducouvercle.Remontezlepiedencaoutchoucdefaçonàéviterlapénétrationd’humiditéoude
 poussièredanslelogementdespiles,entournantlepiedencaoutchoucdanslesensdesaiguillesd’unemontre.
