R-net LCD (CJSM2) control panel an is inten e as an
extension to your power wheelchair’s user manual.

1 Safety
1.1 Types of warning signs
The following types of warning signs are use in this manual:

1.2 Warning signs
WARNING! Activate flight mo e where
ra io transmission is not allowe
The Power Platform on your wheelchair contains a ra io
transmitter. In certain areas, ra io transmission is not allowe
an your wheelchair must be set to flight mo e . Examples of
these types of areas inclu e, but are not limite to:
• Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, such as
fuelling areas, below ecks on boats, fuel or chemical
transfer or storage facilities, or areas where the air contains
chemicals or particles such as grain, ust, or metal pow ers.
• Areas where ra io silence is requeste such as hospitals,
clinics or healthcare facilities in or er to prevent possible
interference with sensitive me ical equipment.
• Airports or insi e aircraft when you are instructe by airport
or airline staff to use flight mo e.
• Blasting areas or in areas poste with notifications request-
ing ”two-way ra ios” or ”electronic evices” to be turne off
to avoi interfering with blasting operations.
You are responsible for paying attention to where ra io trans-
mission is allowe an also where it is not allowe .

WARNING! Always replace amage
joystick covers
Protect the wheelchair from exposure to any type of moisture,
inclu ing rain, snow, mu or spray.
If any of the covers or the joystick boot has cracks or tears, it
must be replace imme iately. Failure to o so may allow
moisture to enter the electronics an cause personal injury or
property amage, inclu ing fire.
IMPORTANT! Releasing the joystick stops
seat movement
Release the joystick at any time to stop seat movement.
IMPORTANT! Use only the supplie battery
charger
The wheelchair’s guarantee will be ren ere invali if any evice
other than the battery charger supplie with the wheelchair or
the lock key is connecte via the control panel charger socket.
IMPORTANT! Systems ata can be

The Power Platform on your wheelchair can recor systems
ata an , if activate , can transmit some ata in certain
instances, inclu ing GPS location. This information helps, for
example, to iagnose wheelchair systems an to continuously
improve wheelchair safety. Permobil may access the informa-
tion an share it with others:
• with the consent of the wheelchair owner or his or her
personal representative;
• for safety research or wheelchair iagnosis purpose;
• in response to an official request by law enforcement or
other government agency;
• for use in ispute resolution involving Permobil, its affiliates
or sales/service organisation; an
• as otherwise require or permitte by law.

The overview image on the prece ing page shows the basic functions of the
control panel. All buttons, toggle switches an the joystick may have
a itional functionality.
The charging socket is locate on the front of the panel.
Two jack sockets are locate on the base of the panel. One is inten e for an
external On/Off switch an the other for an external profile switch.
The wheelchair may also be equippe with an extra seat control panel in
a ition to the control panel.
2.1 Charging socket
This socket shoul only be use for charging or locking the wheelchair. Do not
connect any type of programming cable into this socket. This socket shoul
not be use as a power supply for any other electrical evice. Connecting
other electrical evices may amage the control system or affect the
wheelchair’s EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) performance.

2.2 Jack sockets
The external on/off switch jack ( ) allows the user to turn the control system
on or off using an external evice such as a bu y button.
The external profile switch jack ( ) allows the user to select profiles using an
external evice such as a bu y button. To change the profile while riving,
simply press the button.
2.3 Buttons and paddle switches
On the control panel, there are a total of 7 buttons an 2 pa le switches.
2.3.1 Power, mode and profile paddle
The pa le switch is use to switch the control system on or off.
Push the pa le switch forwar s to switch the power on.
Pull the pa le switch backwar s to switch the power off.
The pa le switch can also be use to scroll through the available profiles an
mo es. Push the pa le forwar to scroll through the available profiles an
mo es.

2.3.2 Maximum speed paddle
This pa le ecreases or increases the wheelchair’s maximum spee . The
maximum spee in icator on the isplay shows the current setting. Push the
pa le forwar s to increase the setting an backwar s to ecrease the
setting.
If your wheelchair has a Power Platform, then there are new icons on your
control panel. See chapter 2.6 Display, page 19.
2.3.3 Horn button
The horn will soun while this button is presse .
2.3.4 Mode button
The mo e button allows the user to navigate through the available operating
mo es for the control system. The available mo es epen on programming
an the range of auxiliary output evices connecte to the control system.
2.3.5 Profile button
The profile button allows the user to navigate through the profiles available for
the control system. The number of profiles available epen s on how the
control system is programme .

2.3.6 Function buttons
Four function buttons are locate on the left an right si es of the isplay.
The symbols on the screen show the current function.
2.3.6.1 Hazard lights and seat lift
This button controls the wheelchair hazar lights if your wheelchair is
equippe with lights, an the seat lift if this function is programme for your
control panel.
The hazar lights are use when the wheelchair is positione such that it
constitutes an obstruction for others. When the hazar lights are on, a symbol
on the screen will flash in sync with the wheelchair’s hazar lights.
This is how you turn the hazar lights on an off.
1. Press the button to turn on the hazar lights.
2. Press the button again to turn off the hazar lights.
This is how you control the seat lift.
1. Press an hol the button to lift the seat to the preferre position.
2. Press an hol the button again to lower the seat to the preferre
position.

2.3.6.2 Lights and backrest tilt
This button controls the front lights an rear lights if your wheelchair is
equippe with lights, an the backrest tilt if this function is programme for
your control panel.
When the lights are on, a symbol on the screen lights up.
This is how you turn the lights on an off.
1. Press the button to turn on the front lights an rear lights.
2. Press the button again to turn off the front lights an rear lights.
This is how you control the backrest tilt.
1. Press an hol the button to tilt the backrest forwar s to the preferre
position.
2. Press an hol the button again to tilt the backrest backwar s to the
preferre position.

2.3.6.3 Left indicator and leg rest tilt
This button controls the left in icator if your wheelchair is equippe with
lights, an the leg rest tilt if this function is programme for your control
panel.
When the left in icator is on, a symbol on the screen will flash in sync with the
wheelchair’s left in icator.
This is how you turn the left in icator on an off.
1. Press the button to turn on the left in icator.
2. Press the button again to turn off the left in icator.
This is how you control the leg rest tilt.
1. Press an hol the button to tilt the leg rest forwar s to the preferre
position.
2. Press an hol the button again to tilt the leg rest backwar s to the
preferre position.

2.3.6.4 Right indicator and seat tilt
This button controls the right in icator if your wheelchair is equippe with
lights, an the seat tilt if this function is programme for your control panel.
When the right in icator is on, a symbol on the screen will flash in sync with
the wheelchair’s right in icator.
This is how you turn the right in icator on an off.
1. Press the button to turn on the right in icator.
2. Press the button again to turn off the right in icator.
This is how you control the seat tilt.
1. Press an hol the button to tilt the seat forwar s to the esire position.
2. Press an hol the button again to tilt the seat backwar s to the esire
position.

2.4 Locking and unlocking the control system
2.4.1 Locking
• Switch the control system on an move the pa le backwar s.
• After 1 secon , the control system will beep. Now release the pa le.
• Deflect the joystick forwar until the control system beeps.
• Deflect the joystick backwar until the control system beeps.
• Release the joystick; there will be a long beep.
• The wheelchair is now locke .
• The wheelchair is switche off.
2.4.2 Unlocking
• If the control system has switche off, move the pa le forwar .
• Deflect the joystick forwar until the control system beeps.
• Deflect the joystick backwar until the control system beeps.
• Release the joystick; there will be a long beep.
• The wheelchair is now unlocke .

2.5 Seat functions
Not all seat functions are available on all seat mo els.
On some seats, the seat functions can be controlle using the control panel
joystick. Some mo els can memorise six seat positions. The seat a justment
mechanism stores each memorise seat position. This makes it easy to
retrieve a seat position save earlier.
2.5.1 Manoeuvring the seat
1. Press the mo e button one or more times until a seat function icon
appears on the control panel isplay.
2. Move the joystick to the left or right to select a seat function. The icon for
the seat function selecte appears on the isplay. The icons shown vary
epen ing on the seat mo el an available functions.
3. Move the joystick forwar or backwar to activate the function.
When seat mo e is active, arrows are isplaye .
• White arrows in icate in which irections you can a just a function.
• Grey arrows in icate that a irection is not possible.
• If you try to operate a function after the en position has been reache , the
arrow flashes grey.
If the symbol M appears together with the seat icon, it means the memory
function has been selecte . Move the joystick to the left or right to select a
seat function instea .

2.5.2 Return to drive mode
Press the Mo e button once or more times until a stan ar isplay image with
a spee in icator appears in the control panel isplay.

2.5.3 Memory
2.5.3.1 Retrieving a seat position from the memory
Some seat control systems can memorise six seat positions. The seat
a justment mechanism stores each memorise seat position. This makes it
easy to retrieve a seat position save earlier.
1. Press the Mo e button once or more times until a seat function icon
appears in the control panel isplay.
2. Move the joystick to the left or right to select a memorise position (M
home, M1, M2, M3, M4, or M5). A seat icon an memory symbol M for the
memorise position selecte are shown in the control panel isplay.
3. Press the joystick in the forwar s irection. The seat a justs to the
position store earlier. For safety reasons, the joystick must be hel
forwar s until the seat is fully a juste to the memorise position. Once
the seat has a juste to the memorise position, it stops moving.
IMPORTANT! Releasing the joystick stops seat
movement
4. If you select a memorise seat position while in latche mo e, the
wheelchair will continue to move until it reaches the memorise position.
See 2.6.5 Latched mode, page 24.

2.5.3.2 Saving a seat position to memory
1. A just the seat function to the preferre position.
2. Select the seat memory function by pressing the mo e button one or
more times until a seat icon appears in the control panel isplay.
3. Move the joystick to the left or right to select a memorise position (M
home, M1, M2, M3, M4, or M5). A memory symbol M for the selecte
memorise position is shown in the control panel isplay.
4. Move the joystick backwar s an hol for three secon s to activate the
save function. The memory symbol M flashes. Move the joystick forwar s
an hol for three secon s to save the current position.
5. The memory symbol M will remain on the isplay for two secon s to
confirm that the position has been memorise , then the memory symbol
M isappears.

2.6 isplay
The status of the control system is shown on the isplay. The control system
is on when the isplay is backlit.
2.6.1 Screen symbols
The R-Net rive screen has common components that always appear, an
components that only appear un er certain con itions.

2.6.2 Battery indicator
The battery level is isplaye as follows:
Green 45–100%
Yellow 25–44%
Re 0–24%
The battery bar flashes when it changes from green to yellow an between
yellow levels. It flashes repeate ly at re level.
The battery level is also shown as a percentage to the right of the battery bar.
The percentage changes in steps of five.
When the levels light up incrementally, the wheelchair is being charge . The
wheelchair cannot be riven until the charger is isconnecte an the control
system is switche off an on again.
