As with any electrical device, check the electrical cord for any
tears or damage before use.
Make sure the inline plug is fully connected. (No silver showing)
Remove the housing cover (lid) by placing your index ngers
into the inset grooves on either side of the lid. Lift up. Set the lid
aside.

NOTE: Rinse the filter thoroughly under cool water before placing
in the fountain. This will remove any loose charcoal dust, which is
harmless. A small amount of charcoal dust may shed for the life of
the filter. This is normal and not harmful to your pet.
Place fountain in desired location. If placing on carpet, tile or
wood ooring use a protective mat or other durable, water
resistant surface to protect your oor from splashing or dripping
from your pet.
Fill the unit with water. This includes both the bowl and the lter
housing. This will prime the pump. Replace the lid.
Before you plug the fountain in, make sure the cord and your
hands are dry. Plug the fountain into an electrical outlet.

Insert the charcoal lter. The lter will

on the right side of the housing.
The lter ts narrow side down and
the white side faces the front of the
fountain (as shown in Fig. 1a). The
lter will slide easily into place, but
make sure it is pushed all the way
down.

8) Set your desired ow rate with the
ow control knob, located to the
right of the splash ramp. In the
10 o’clock position for a smaller
stream or in the 2 o’clock position
for a strong stream.
Add water as needed. Do not let the water level fall lower than
the ow control knob or you may burn out the motor. Do not pick
up a full fountain by the lter housing. Only pick up the fountain
by placing both hands underneath the base of the fountain and
grip the sidewalls for a sturdy hold.

FOUNTAIN CLEANING
FILTERS: Change every 2 to 4 weeks

Filters should be changed every two to four weeks. Replace
the lters more frequently when using the fountain for multiple
pets or pets that produce a lot of saliva.
Filters are an added feature of the fountain. Their use is not
required for normal operation, but will keep the fountain water
cleaner.
Filters may be rinsed out when the fountain is cleaned. Never
wash the lter with soapy water, you will not be able to remove
the soap residue.
FOUNTAIN: Clean once a week
Unplug fountain, remove housing lid, and
remove the lter.
Empty the water out of the fountain.
Remove the pre-lter by gently pulling up on
the top lip of the pre-lter and wash with soap
and water. (See Fig. 2a)

4) Remove the lter housing by gently pushing in on either side of
the fountain where the curve meets the seam. Gently lift up. (See
Fig. 2b & 2c)

NOTE: You will notice the right side of the housing will offer some
resistance as the water intake tube pulls away from the motor.
5) Next, remove the motor (Fig. 2d) by rst disconnecting the inline
plug (Fig. 2e), then lift it out of the fountain. Clean away any hair
or kibble that may have accumulated around the ow control
knob and the intake plate of the pump.

Clean the fountain parts with warm water and soap. You can also
put the fountain in the top rack of the dishwasher. Remove the
pump before placing the fountain in the dishwasher. If possible, it
is recommended that you turn down the heat of the water inside
the dishwasher.
If you have troubles reaching certain spots or getting
hard-to-reach corners, try using a cotton swab or set of bottle
brushes (Drinkwell®3-Brush Cleaning Kit available).
Once the fountain is completely disassembled you will have:

FOUNTAIN REASSEMBLY
1) Replace the motor into its location between the 4 half-inch posts
on the right side of the fountain. Gently push down to engage the
suction cups. (Fig. 3a & 3b)

2) Thread the plug through the opening in the back left corner of
the bowl piece (Fig. 3c). Next, thread the cord along the back of
the fountain to the cord notch (Fig. 3d). Use this pass-through to
keep the cord from showing.

Line up the lter housing unit over the motor and then the
bowl. You will want to line up the intake tube to t directly into
the motor. Once in place, gently push down, locking the lter
housing into place.

Replace the pre-lter over the ow
control knob by sliding the narrow end
in rst. The lip on the top of the pre-lter
will be facing the front of the fountain,
push down to snap it into place over the
ow control knob. (Fig. 3e)

PUMP MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the pump is essential to the longevity of the
fountain, as well as the cleanliness of the water.
Clean the pump every 2 weeks.
IMPORTANT: Warranty may be voided if the motor is not cleaned.
Remove the Pre-lter and Housing from the bowl.
Gently lift the pump out of its resting place. Suction cups on
the bottom of the motor will hold it in place. A small amount of
force may be necessary.
Once the pump is out of the fountain, with your thumb and
forenger, gently squeeze on either side of the intake plate,
and pull off. It may be necessary to insert a ngernail into the
seam of the intake plate to pry it off. (Fig. 4a & 4b)

Next, you will want to remove the stator by placing your nger
nail under the small lip located on the narrow side of tear drop
shaped stator and pull out. (Fig. 4c & 4d)

Once the stator is removed, you
can also remove the impeller (3
white-bladed propeller) which
is held in place magnetically.
To remove the impeller, use a
ngernail to get under a blade
and lift out. (Fig. 4e)

Once the motor is disassembled you can clean the parts
with warm soapy water. Use a cotton bud or the Drinkwell®
Cleaning Kit “Motor Brush” to get into the motor cavity and
remove any build-up. For added disinfecting and hard water
removal, clean the motor with white vinegar.
Once the parts are clean you can reassemble the motor for
use.

c) Replace the intake plate with the ow control knob
attached to it.

THE FOUNTAIN AND YOUR ENVIRONMENT
If you live in a humid environment and have problems with mold
or algae, soak all of the parts in a diluted bleach solution for about
10 minutes after regular cleaning. Use a 10% bleach and 90%
water solution. Pour some of the bleach solution down into the
motor cavity too. This is an excellent way to disinfect the fountain.
However, you must be sure to rinse all the parts thoroughly in only
water to remove all the chlorine.
If you have “hard water” you may start to see white mineral
deposits on or down inside the pump. This may eventually prevent
the impeller from turning properly. To avoid having to replace the
pump, please take the following steps:
A. Clean the pump more frequently than you have in the past; or
B. Clean the pump with a vinegar solution (20% White Vinegar and
80% Water) and let the solution soak for several minutes down
inside the motor cavity; or
C. Use bottled water instead of faucet water.

Housing Cover (Lid): the housing cover snaps in place over the lter housing.
Keep curious pets away from the charcoal lter.
Housing/Filter Housing: here the water is pumped up through the housing to
cycle through the charcoal lter and out the spout to create a free-falling stream
of water into the bowl.
Replaceable Charcoal Filter: is a 3-layer carbon lter with granulated carbon
made from coconut shells. The lter absorbs bad tastes and odors as the water
passes through and helps keep the water tasting fresh and more appealing to
pets. Replace lter every 2 to 4 weeks.
Pre-lter: a small intake grate that will catch large particles such as hair and
kibble before they reach the lter. The pre-lter can be removed by pulling up on
the lip at the top. To replace, slide back into place over the ow control knob and
push down until it clamps around the knob.
Bowl: the bowl is the foundation of the fountain and houses the motor.
Flow Control Knob: the black knob that attaches to the motor which will adjust
the rate of water ow. The pre-lter will snap around the neck of the ow control
knob which will lock it into place. The knob is attached to the motor and can be
removed by taking the motor apart (See section “Motor Maintenance”).
Motor or Pump: a small submersible aquarium pump that can be dismantled for
cleaning. THE PUMP IS NOT DISHWASHER SAFE! Remove pump from fountain
before cleaning (See “Motor Maintenance”). The pump cord also features a
removable inline plug for easy attachment.

TIPS ON USE
When being introduced to the Drinkwell®Mini Pet Fountain,
your pet may be cautious of this new and unusual object. After
beginning operation of your fountain, simply allow your pet to
adjust at his or her own pace. Some pets may take several days or
longer to begin use, while others will start right away.
Your pet may prefer that the fountain be placed away from their
normal feeding area. Try placing it in another location, such as a
different area of the kitchen or in a bathroom or utility room.
Add ice cubes to the bowl for refreshing, ice-cold running water!

It is not recommended that any appliance be left running unattended for
a prolonged period of time as the water may get consumed or evaporate
and cause the motor to run dry.
Do not allow pets or children to chew on or swallow any parts. If you are
concerned about the power cord, purchase a cord conduit (a hard plastic
protector) at any hardware store.

Do not attempt repairs on the motor
yourself. Return it under the cover
of the warranty.
If the plug of this device gets wet,
turn off the electricity to that outlet.
Do not attempt to unplug.
To avoid the possibility of the plug or
outlet getting wet, the outlet should

Examine this appliance after
installation. It should not be plugged
in if there is water on the cord or

Comme pour tous les appareils électriques, vérier que le cordon
d’alimentation n’est pas endommagé avant de le brancher.
S’assurer que la che est branchée. (La partie argentée ne doit
pas être apparente)
Enlever le couvercle du boîtier en plaçant vos index dans les
rainures encastrées de chaque côté du couvercle. Soulever le
couvercle et le mettre de côté.

Remarque: Bien rincer le ltre à l’eau froide avant de le placer dans
le boîtier. Ceci enlèvera tout résidu de charbon qui est toutefois
sans danger pour votre animal. Une petite quantité de charbon peut
s’échapper pendant la durée de vie du ltre. Ceci est normal, et n’est
pas nocif pour votre animal.

Insérez le ltre à charbon dans les
deux fentes triangulaires situées à
droite dans le boîtier, partie étroite
vers le bas et côté blanc vers l’avant
de la fontaine (voir g. 1a). Le ltre
glisse facilement en place, mais
veillez à l’enfoncer jusqu’au bout.

Installez la fontaine à l’endroit désiré. Si vous la posez sur une
moquette, du carrelage ou un parquet en bois, mettez un tapis
de protection ou tout autre type de toile solide et imperméable
pour protéger votre sol des éclaboussures ou des gouttes faites
par votre animal.
Remplissez l’appareil d’eau. Versez l’eau dans le boîtier du
ltre et dans l’écuelle, ce qui préparera la pompe. Remettez le
couvercle en place.
Avant de brancher la fontaine, assurez-vous que vos mains et le
cordon sont secs. Branchez l’appareil dans une prise murale.

8) Réglez l’écoulement désiré
avec le bouton de contrôle du
débit, situé à droite de la rampe
anti-éclaboussures. Choisissez
la position 10 heures pour un
écoulement faible ou 2 heures pour
un écoulement fort (voir g. 1b).
Ajoutez de l’eau si nécessaire. Ne laissez pas le niveau d’eau
descendre sous le bouton de contrôle du débit pour éviter toute
surchauffe du moteur. Ne soulevez jamais une fontaine remplie
d’eau en la tenant par le boîtier, mais placez vos deux mains
sous sa base et tenez-la fermement par les côtés.

Débranchez la fontaine, retirez le couvercle
du boîtier et enlevez le ltre.
Videz l’eau de la fontaine.
Enlevez le pré-ltre en le soulevant
doucement par son rebord et nettoyez-le à
l’eau savonneuse (g. 2a).

NETTOYAGE DE LA FONTAINE
FILTRES : à changer toutes les 2 à 4 semaines.
Les ltres doivent être remplacés toutes les deux à quatre
semaines. Remplacez-les plus souvent si plusieurs animaux
boivent à la fontaine ou s’ils salivent beaucoup.
Les ltres sont en supplément de la fontaine. Ils ne sont pas
nécessaires au fonctionnement de l’appareil, mais ils assurent
une plus grande propreté de l’eau.
Les ltres peuvent être rincés pendant le nettoyage de la fontaine.
Ne lavez jamais un ltre à l’eau savonneuse, car vous ne pourriez
pas éliminer les résidus de savon.

4) Retirez le boîtier en appuyant légèrement de chaque côté de la
fontaine au niveau de la jointure avec la fontaine. Soulevez-le
doucement (g. 2b et 2c).

Remarque : Vous remarquerez une certaine résistance du côté droit du boîtier,
causée par le dégagement du tube d’entrée de l’eau hors du moteur.
5) Vous pouvez alors retirez le moteur en débranchant la che (g.
2d) ensuite le sortir de la fontaine (g. 2e). Enlevez les poils
ou saletés qui se seraient éventuellement accumulés autour
du bouton de contrôle du débit et de la plaque d’arrivée de la
pompe.

Nettoyez les pièces de la fontaine à l’eau et au savon. Vous
pouvez aussi mettre la fontaine dans le compartiment supérieur
du lave-vaisselle. Dans ce cas, enlevez d’abord la pompe. Si
possible, il est recommandé de baisser la température du lave-
vaisselle.
Si vous n’arrivez pas à bien nettoyer certaines parties difciles
d’accès, essayez avec un coton-tige ou des brosses à bouteille.
Lorque la fontaine est complètement démontée, vous aurez
devant vous 4 pièces en plastique et le moteur.

RÉASSEMBLAGE DE LA

1) Remettez le moteur place, entre les 4 ergots d’environ un
centimètre situés sur le côté droit de la fontaine. Appuyez
doucement sur le moteur pour faire adhérer les ventouses (g.
3a et 3b).

2) Faites passer la che dans l’ouverture située dans le coin arrière
gauche du bol (g. 3c). Puis faites passer le cordon le long des
rainures à l’arrière de la fontaine jusqu’à l’encoche (g. 3d).
Utilisez ce passage pour dissimuler le cordon.

Alignez le boîtier sur le moteur et le bol. Il faut que le tube
d’entrée d’eau soit inséré directement dans le moteur. Une fois
aligné, enfoncez le boîtier jusqu’à ce qu’il soit xé correctement.

Glissez le pré-ltre sur le bouton de
contrôle du débit, partie étroite d’abord.
La saillie sur le haut du pré-ltre doit
être orientée vers l’avant de la fontaine.

Remettez le ltre et le couvercle du
boîtier en place.
