This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal
injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid
possible injury or death.
WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION, used with the safety alert symbol, indicates a
hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in minor
or moderate injury.

your pet.
NOTICE is used to address practices not related to personal injury.
• Do not use this product if your dog is aggressive or prone to aggressive
behaviour. Aggressive dogs can cause severe or fatal injury to their owner and
others. If you are unsure of whether this product is appropriate for your dog,
please consult your veterinary surgeon or a certified trainer.
• There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Do not
short circuit, mix old and new batteries, dispose of in fire or expose to water.
When batteries are stored or disposed of, they must be protected from shorting.
Dispose of spent batteries correctly.

WARNING: Button or coin cell battery inside.
• Swallowed lithium batteries can cause internal chemical burns quickly (within
2 hours) and can lead to death. Dispose of spent batteries immediately. Keep ALL
batteries away from children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
• This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children. Use it only as
a bark deterrent.
• Proper fit of the collar is important. A collar worn for too long or made too tight
on the pet’s neck may cause skin damage ranging from redness to pressure
ulcers. This condition is commonly known as bed sores.
• Avoid leaving the collar on a pet for more than 12 hours per day.
• When possible, reposition the collar on the pet’s neck every 1 to 2 hours.
• Regularly recheck the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions
in this manual.
• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the contact points. However,
never shave the dog’s neck; this may lead to a rash or infection.
• Never connect a lead to a collar with contact points. It will cause excessive
pressure on the contact points.
• When connecting a lead to a separate collar, do not allow it to put pressure
on the receiver collar.
• Wash the dog’s neck area and the contact points of the collar weekly with
a damp cloth.
• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.
• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue using this product until the skin has healed.
• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinary surgeon.
• For additional information on bed sores and pressure necrosis, please visit
our website.
• This product is only for use with healthy pets. If you’re not certain that your pet is
in good health, we recommend that you take your pet to a veterinary surgeon
before using this product.
• These instructions must be retained and passed on with ownership.

How the System Works
The Vibration Bark Control Collar has two primary features designed to shorten
the training phase and promote good behaviour.
First, the Bark Control offers 10 combinations of Vibration Stimulation. When the
dog barks, vibration is delivered from one of the two Vibration Points. The duration
of the vibration is random, which interrupts the dog’s bark. When used according
to instruction the Vibration Bark Control Collar safely reduces (and in most cases
eliminates) nuisance barking.
Second, the Vibration Bark Control Collar includes Perfect Bark™technology. It uses
both vibration and sound sensors (dual-detection) to discriminate each bark from
other external noises. This ensures your dog’s bark is the only sound that will cause
the stimulation.
As a built-in safety feature, if your dog barks 15 times or more within a 1 minute
20 second period, the Bark Control Collar will automatically shut off for 1 minute.

Important: Before playing with your dog, remove the Vibration Bark Control
Collar. The activity may cause your dog to bark, which could lead him to associate
the play with the Vibration Stimulation.

Fit the Bark Control Collar
Important: The proper fit and placement of your Bark Control Collar is important
for effective operation. The Vibration Points must have direct contact with your dog’s
skin on the underside of his neck.
Please refer to page 2 for Important
Safety Information.
To assure a proper fit, please follow these steps:
1. Make sure that the battery is in the
“OFF” position.
2. Have your dog standing comfortably (A).
3. Centre the Vibration Points underneath your
dog’s neck, touching the skin (B). Note: It is
sometimes necessary
to trim the hair around
the Vibration Points to
make sure that contact
is consistent.
Do not shave the pet’s neck as this may increase the risk of
skin irritation.

4. Check the tightness of the Bark
Control Collar by inserting one
finger between the strap and the
dog’s neck (C). The fit should be
snug but not constricting.
You should not make the collar any tighter than is required for
good contact. A collar that is too tight will increase the risk of
pressure necrosis in the contact area.
5. Allow your dog to wear the collar for several minutes, then recheck the fit.
Check the fit again as your dog becomes more comfortable with the Bark
Control Collar.
6. Trim the collar as follows (D):
A. Mark the desired length
of the collar with a pen.
Allow for growth if your dog
is young or grows a thick
winter coat.
B. Remove the Bark Control
Collar from your dog and
cut off excess.
C. Before placing the Bark Control Collar back onto your dog, seal the edge
of the cut collar by applying a flame along the frayed edge.
ON/OFF Battery Module
The PetSafe®Vibration Bark Control is packaged with the battery module installed
in the “OFF” position. To activate the collar, use a coin to turn the Battery Module
anti-clockwise until the arrow lines up with the “ON” position. If the collar is not
going to be used on the dog immediately leave it in the “OFF” position.

To Insert and Remove the Battery
Note: Do not install the battery while the Bark Control Collar is on your dog.
1. Align the line on the battery with the
triangle on the Bark Control Collar (A).
2. Use a coin to turn the battery clockwise
until the line points to the “ON” position
if you are putting it on the dog or the
“OFF” position if it is not being put on
the dog right away (B).
3. To remove the battery, turn the battery
anti-clockwise using a coin (C, D).
Do not attempt to cut into or pry open the battery.
Be sure to discard the used battery properly.
This Bark Control Collar utilises a replaceable PetSafe®battery (RFA-188).
This unique battery is designed to make battery replacement easier and increase
water protection.
A replacement PetSafe®battery (RFA-188) can be found at many retailers.

Battery Life
Average battery life is 3 to 6 months, depending on how often your dog barks.
However, due to greater use during your dog’s training, your first battery may not last
as long as replacement batteries. To conserve battery life, turn to the “OFF” position
when the Bark Control Collar is not in use.
Three Colour LED
The three colour LED indicator shows good or low battery and indicates Test Mode.
Good battery equals 1 flash every 5 seconds with Green LED. Low battery equals
3 flashes every 5 seconds with the Red LED. If there are no LED lights it is time to
change the battery.

To Test the Vibration Bark Control Collar
1. Begin with the Collar in the “OFF” position.
2. Turn to the “ON” position until the LED shows Orange.
3. Immediately turn to the “OFF” position after seeing the Orange LED.
4. Turn to the “ON” position. The LED will flash Orange and you are now in
test mode.
5. Blow into the microphone and the Orange LED will flash to indicate that the
microphone is working.
6. Scratch lightly between the Vibration Points to indicate the vibration is working.
7. If the LED light does not flash and there is no vibration, ensure that the battery
is properly installed and/or replace the battery. If there is still no response,
contact the Customer Care Centre.
8. Turn “OFF” to end the test mode. The test mode will also time out after 30
seconds and resume normal operation.
What to Expect During Use of the Vibration
Bark Control Collar
Important: Do not leave your dog alone the first few times he receives
a Vibration Stimulation.
Place the Bark Control Collar properly on your dog and wait nearby until he barks.
Most dogs will understand very quickly that the Bark Control Collar is disrupting their
urge to bark and will relax and stop barking. Because the Vibration Stimulation from
the Bark Control Collar may be surprising or startling at first, some dogs may bark
more at the initial stimulation.
On rare occasions, a dog may get into a bark-stimulation-bark-stimulation cycle.
If this happens, reassure your dog with calm, soothing tones. As your dog relaxes,
he will understand that if he becomes quiet, he will not receive any more Vibration
Stimulations. The small minority of dogs that have this reaction will only have it the
first time they wear the Bark Control Collar.

You should notice a reduction in your dog’s barking within the first couple of days
that he wears the Bark Control Collar. At this point, it is important to remember the
learning process is still not complete. Dogs will “test” this new learning experience
and will increase their attempts to bark. This usually occurs during the second week
a dog wears the Bark Control Collar. If this does occur, remain consistent and do
not alter your use of the Bark Control Collar. You must place the Bark Control Collar
on your dog in every situation when you expect him to be quiet. If your dog is not
wearing the Bark Control Collar, he may resume barking and his learning would
suffer a setback.

Regular Maintenance
• Wash the Vibration Points of the collar weekly with a damp cloth. Note:
Turn to the “Off” position before cleaning the Vibration Points.
• Check your dog’s neck for irritation and wash neck weekly.
Risk of skin damage.
• For comfort, safety and effectiveness of this product, please
ensure that you check the fit of your pet’s collar frequently. If
any skin irritation is observed, discontinue the use of the collar
for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see
your veterinary surgeon.
• Do not attach a lead to the collar. This can result in pulling the
Vibration Points too tightly against your pet’s neck. Attach a
lead to a separate, non-metallic collar or harness, making sure
the extra collar does not put pressure on the Vibration Points.

Will another dog’s
bark set off the Bark
Control Collar?
No. Perfect Bark™technology ensures your
dog’s bark is the only sound that will cause the
Vibration Stimulation.
Will the Vibration Bark
Control Collar work for
my dog?
• The Bark Control Collar is safe and effective for
all breeds and sizes of dogs.
• The System should only be used with pets who
are over 6 months of age. If your pet is injured
or its mobility otherwise impaired, contact
your veterinary surgeon or professional trainer
before use.
Can I attach a lead to
the Bark Control Collar?
No. This can result in pulling the Vibration Points
too tightly against your dog’s neck. Attach a lead
to a separate, non-metallic collar or a harness,
making sure the extra collar does not put pressure
on the Vibration Points.
TROUBLESHOOTING
My dog keeps barking
(does not respond to the
Vibration Stimulation).
• Tighten the Bark Control Collar and/or trim
your dog’s hair where the Vibration Points touch
his neck to ensure good skin contact.
• Replace the battery.
• If your dog still does not respond, contact the
Customer Care Centre.
The Green LED light
stopped flashing and
there is no red light.
• Ensure that the battery is properly installed.
• Replace the battery.
• If the Green LED light is still not flashing, contact
the Customer Care Centre.

Battery Disposal
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the
regulations in your area before discarding spent batteries. At the end of the product
life, please contact our Customer Care Centre to receive instructions on proper
disposal of the unit. Please do not dispose of the unit in household or municipal
waste. For a list of Customer Care Centre telephone numbers in your area,
visit our website at www.petsafe.com.
Important Recycling Advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations
in your country.
This equipment must be recycled. At the end of the product life, do not place it in
the normal municipal waste system. Please check the regulations in your area or
return it to where it was purchased so that it can be placed in our recycling system.
If these options are not possible, please contact the Customer Care Centre for
further information.

weight of your pet may not be suitable for this product. If you are unsure whether
this product is appropriate for your pet, please consult your veterinary surgeon
or certified trainer prior to use. For products used with pets where training is
desired, Radio Systems Corporation recommends that these training products
are not used if your pet is aggressive and accepts no liability for determining
suitability in individual cases.

Un collier porté trop longtemps ou trop serré peut irriter la peau de l’animal et

Fonctionnement du système
Le collier anti-aboiements par vibration possède deux principales caractéristiques
destinées à raccourcir la phase de dressage et à favoriser le bon comportement.
Tout d'abord, le contrôle des aboiements offre 10 combinaisons de stimulation
par vibration. Lorsque le chien aboie, une vibration est envoyée depuis l'un
des deux points de vibration. La durée de la vibration est aléatoire, ce qui

Ajustement du collier anti-aboiements
Important : le collier anti-aboiements doit être correctement positionné et réglé
pour fonctionner de façon efficace. Les points de vibration doivent être en contact
direct avec la peau de votre chien, au niveau de ses cordes vocales.
Reportez-vous en page 2 pour obtenir des
informations importantes sur la sécurité.
Pour assurer un port adéquat,
respectez les étapes suivantes :
1. Vérifiez que la pile est en position « OFF ».
2. Installez votre chien dans une position
confortable (A).
3. Centrez les points de vibration au niveau des
cordes vocales de votre
chien en les mettant
bien en contact avec
la peau (B). Remarque :
il est parfois nécessaire
de couper les poils
autour des points de
vibration pour assurer
un contact constant.
Ne rasez pas le cou du chien, car cela peut augmenter le
risque d’irritation de la peau.

4. Vérifiez l’ajustement du collier
anti-aboiements en insérant un
doigt entre le collier et le cou du
chien (C). Le collier doit être bien
serré, mais sans excès.
Évitez de serrer le collier plus que ce qu'il n'est nécessaire pour
garantir un bon contact. Un collier trop serré accroît le risque
de nécrose cutanée dans la zone de contact du collier.
5. Laissez le collier pendant plusieurs minutes sur votre chien, puis vérifiez
à nouveau l’ajustement. Vérifiez ensuite l'ajustement du collier au fur
et à mesure que votre chien s'habitue à le porter.
6. Coupez le collier à la taille voulue (D):
A. Faites une marque avec un
stylo à la longueur voulue.
Laissez une longueur
suffisante si votre chien
n’a pas encore atteint sa
taille adulte ou si son poil
s’épaissit en hiver.
B. Enlevez the collier anti-aboiements de votre chien et coupez l'excédent.
C. Avant de replacer le collier anti-aboiements sur votre chien, soudez
le bord coupé en appliquant une flamme sur la partie effilochée.
Module de pile ON/OFF
Le contrôle des aboiements à vibration de PetSafe®est fourni avec le module de
pile installé en position OFF. Pour activer le collier, utilisez une pièce de monnaie
pour faire tourner le module de pile dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre
jusqu’à ce que la flèche soit alignée sur la position ON. Si vous ne souhaitez pas
utiliser le collier tout de suite sur votre chien, laissez la pile en position OFF.

Insertion et retrait de la pile
Remarque : N'installez pas la pile alors que le collier anti-aboiements est
sur votre chien.
1. Alignez la ligne située sur la pile
avec le triangle présent sur le collier
anti-aboiements (A).
2. Utilisez une pièce de monnaie pour
tourner la pile dans le sens des aiguilles
d'une montre jusqu'à ce que la ligne
pointe vers la position On si vous
placez le collier sur votre chien ou vers
la position Off si vous ne le placez pas
immédiatement sur votre chien (B).
3. Pour retirer la pile, tournez-la dans le
sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre
à l'aide d'une pièce de monnaie (C, D).
N'essayez pas de couper ni d'ouvrir la pile.
Assurez-vous d'éliminer la pile usagée de
manière appropriée.

Autonomie de la pile
L’autonomie moyenne de la batterie est comprise entre 3 et 6 mois selon la
fréquence à laquelle votre chien aboie. Cependant, en raison d’un usage répété
lors du dressage de votre chien, il se peut que la première pile ne dure pas aussi
longtemps que les piles de rechange. Pour la préserver, tournez-la en position Off
lorsque le collier anti-aboiements n'est pas utilisé.
Voyant lumineux tricolore
Le voyant lumineux tricolore indique si la pile est chargée ou faible et si le mode
de test est activé. Lorsque la pile est chargée, le voyant vert clignote 1 fois toutes
les 5 secondes. Lorsqu'elle est faible, le voyant rouge clignote 3 fois toutes les 5
secondes. Si la LED ne s’allume pas du tout, il est temps de changer la pile.
