OctoDome nxt — For Hot Lights, Strobes or Cool Lights
Before assembling your OctoDome sobox, make sure all components
are present. You will need:
• OctoDome sobox
• Photoex OctoConnector (to t your light - sold separately)
• Eight rods
• Outer rear cowling patch (for small sixe only, not the extra small)
• Inner bae
• Face diuser
Note: In most cases, the sobox connector is designed to connect with
your light head in the same manner as your light head’s
accessories. Make sure your OctoConnectoris the correct one
designed for your light.
Assemble the Sobox to the Connector
1. Place softbox face down on a flat, clean surface.
2. The connector has nine rod receptacle holes, three of which
are tapped. Current model OctoConnectors use circle icons ( )
for OctoDomes and squares icons ( ) for rectangular Softboxes.
Use the circle icons for your Octodome.
3. Posion connector at the center of the sobox. The connector
front (with the rounded screw heads) Fig. 3 should face away
from the sobox and the connector back (with the bolt nuts)
should face into the sobox.
Inserng Rods into the Connector
Note: Each corner of the connector has a rod receptacle hole. Some of
the holes are tapped but will be used.
4. Insert the rst rod.
5. Insert the second rod into the hole diagonally opposite the
rst hole.
6. Insert the third rod through the eighth rods
Aaching the Rear Cowling Patch
7. Posion the rear patch assembly over the corresponding Velcro
on the rear of the OctoDome.
8. Press the cowling assembly in place around the rear of
the sobox.
Note: The Extra Small OctoDome nxt 870457 (FV-SODXS) does
not use a cowling patch, the outer aps will meet the
connector ring.
9. See gure 9 which shows the Extra Small Octodome. In
this image, the adjustable shoe mount adapter assembly
is shown. If you plan to use this adapter and so box with a
shoe mount ash, see instrucons for shoe mount ash kits,
available at Photoex.com

Installing the Inner Bae and Front Diusion Face
10. The inner bae has Velcro tabs at each corner. These tabs
connect to the Velcro loops on each inner seam of the OctoDome.
Connect each corner of the inner bae to each Velcro loop
inside the OctoDome.
11. The face diuser is rimmed with Velcro material that aaches to
its counterpart that lines the front of the OctoDome. Find a
corner of the diuser and line it up with the corner of the
OctoDome face. Starng at one corner, press the face diuser in
place. Work your way around the rim of the sobox unl the
diuser is in place. Your sobox is now fully constructed.
12. When using oponal grids, the face should be aached at a 1”
recess to allow aachments of the grid accessory (sold separately).
13/14. The sobox is built and ready to aach to your light head. Place
the dome face down on the oor with the connector facing up;
then securely lock the light onto the connector. It also helps to
raise the LiteStand to your approximate height before liing the
light and dome assembly onto the stand. Make sure to always
ghten the light xtures set screw to the stud on the LiteStand.
