Please Note: Afteradding turning onthe Phottix Odin TCU andreceiversyou
must takeonephotographforthe TCUto learn”about yourcameraand flashes.
Thefirstshot you takewill not beproperlyexposed. Subsequentimageswill be
correct.
Slavemodedoesnot needtobe seton flasheson Phottix Odinreceivers.
ManyTTLflasheshavebeen tested but the manufacturercannot guarantee that
all thirdpartyTTLflasheswillfunction properlywith thePhottixOdin. It hasbeen
designedand optimized fororiginalCanonflashesusing theETTLII system.
Tip: Turn off all devices –flashes/strobes,cameras,and thePhottix Odin TCU
and receivers-whenconnecting anddisconnectingdevices.

Upgradingfirmware byUSB
Thefirmwareof theTCU and receiverscanbeupgradedusingthe includedUSB
cable. Anyupgradesand full instructionswillbeannouncedonthe Phottix Blog
(journal.phottix.com).
LED functions
TheLEDon theTCU and receiverunitswillturn greenwhen thecamera is
focusingand redwhen a photo is being taken.
Insertingbatteries
1. Pressthebatterycoverin while pushing it awayfromthePhottixOdin
TCUorreceiver.Thebatterycoverwillslideopen.
2. Removethebatterycover.
3. InsertAA batteriesasshown.
4. Replacethe batterycoverandpushback intothelocked position.
5. Whenthe batterypowericononthe TCU showslowbatterylevelschange
thebatteries.
6. Whenthe poweris verylow,theLEDwillflashred light every2 seconds.
TurningtheTCU andreceiveron/off
1. To turn on thePhottix OdinTCU: Press andhold thePowerButtonuntilan
image appearson theLCD screen.To turnoff:PressandholdthePower
ButtonuntiltheLCD screengoesblank.
2. To turn on thePhottixOdinreceiver: Move thepowerswitchtothe ON”
position. Turnoffthe receiverbymoving thepowerswitchtothe OFF”
position.
Groups andChannels
1. ThePhottixOdinSystem has3groups:A,B,and C,and4tranmission
channels:1,2,3,4.
2. Receiverscanbeassignedbothgroup andchanneldesignations.
3. Thetransmitterwillallow powerlevelsandchangestobe setforeach
group.Unless turnedoffon theTCU, allreceiversset tothe samechannel
and groupwillfire.
TheTCU
Connecting to thecamerahot shoe
1. Turn off thecamera.
2. SlidetheOdinTCU into the camera’shotshoemount. Turn theTCU
locking ring untiltight.
3. Turn on theOdin TCU (see above).
4. Turn on thecamera.
Functions
TheTCU hastwomainfunction screens: TTL/Mixed andRatio.

TTL/Mixed allowsgroupsA, BandC to beset to TTL,ManualorOFFwith
adjustmentsto EV orpowerlevels.
Ratio is similarto Canon’snativeTTL system. The ratio ofgroupsAandBcan
beset from8:1to1:8. EVlevelscanalsobeadjusted.
Tochange function screens:
PresstheOptionbutton onthe TCU. The Option Button willswitch between
TTL/MixedandRatioscreens.
TTL/MixedFunctionsScreen
TheSelection Buttonallowsyoutocyclethrough groupsA,B, and C,and
Channelselections. Active selectionswillflashon theLCD. The-/ +buttonswill
changethe EVadjustmentsorPowerLevelwhilegroupsA, BorCare selected
and willchange thetransmission channel(1,2,3or4)whenChannelis selected.
This will changethe channeltheTCU usesto transmit.
TTL /M/Off
WhilegroupsA, BorC areselected, pressing the Modebuttonwillchangefrom
TTL,(M)Manual,orOff functions.
TTL:Will fireflashesusing TTLmetering.TheEVlevelofeachgroup can be
adjusted upordown (seeabove)
M: Flashescan beset inManualmodeand powerlevels adjusted.
Off: Selecting Off(signifiedbythree underscores___)will turnoff theselected
groupandnotfireanyremoteflashesinthat group.
RatioFunctions Screen
TheSelection Buttonallowsyoutocyclethrough ratio A:Badjustment, EV
adjustment and Channelselections.
Pressthe Selectionbutton to accessratio adjustments. Press the+/ -button
untilthe desiredA:Bratioisachieved.
Pressing theSelection buttonagainwillmovethe activeselection to the EV
adjustment section. Press the+/ -button untilthedesired EVlevelisachieved.
Transmissionchannels can be changedwhenCH is active. Thiswill change the
channeltheTCU usesto transmit.
Adjustingflashzoom
ThePhottixOdinallowsthezoomlevelofflashesto beset wirelessly. Zoomcan
beset asTTLorManual.When TTLisselected: The flashzoomsetting will
changedynamicallyasa camerazoomring is adjusted.In Manualmode, the
flashzoomcanbeset.

UsingZoom:
1. Pressthe ZoomButtonto enterthe Zoomscreen.
2. Pressing theSelection buttonwill cyclethroughgroupsA, BandC, and
Transmissionchannel.
3. Note:Pressing theSelectionbuttonaftertheCH selectionwillreturnto the
TTL/Mixed orRatiosFunctionScreens
4. With groupsA,BorC active: Pressthe Mode Button to changefromTTL
to Manualmode. InManualZoom,pressthe-/+buttonsto adjust the
flashzoom.Noadjustmentscanbemade inTTL mode.
Usingthe ClearButton:
1. TheClearButton willerase anysettingcurrentlyin theTCU.
2. Pressthe Clearbuttonto remove TT/M/Off,Ratio, ZoomandEV settings
currentlyin the TCU.
UsingtheTestButton
Thetestbuttonwillfireallflashesconnected to Phottix Odinreceiversthatareon
thesamechannelasthe TCU.
1. Pressthe Test button.
2. Flasheswillfire in sequence: Group A,followedbyGroupsBandC.
UsingHighSpeedSync(HSS)andSecondCurtainSync(SCS)
Pressing theHSS/SCSbutton will cyclebetween HSS,SCSandstandard
operations.
1. HSSwill allow shutterspeeds longer than a compatiblecamerasspecified
shutterspeed to beused. Shutterspeedsup to 1/8000 sec. canbeachieved
withcompatible camerasand flashes.
2. Note:Athigh shutterspeedsthepowerofflashesis greatlyreduced. EV or
powerlevelscannotbeadjusted when HSSisused.
3. SCSwill fire theflash at theendof an exposure, not atthebeginning. This
canbecombined withlongerexposuresforcreativeeffects.
Usingthe LCD Backlight.
TheLCD Backlight Buttonwill turn theLCD Backlighton forapproximately10
seconds. Ifnobuttonsonthe TCUare pressed thelight will go off.
