1. Phottix Ares receivers are designed to work in
camera and ash manual mode and have no
TTL functions.
2. Phottix Ares receivers will re hot shoe ashes
that are triggered from the center contact pin.
Some third party ashes that trigger from
auxiliary hot shoe pins will not trigger when
used on the Ares receiver hot shoe. Flashes will
trigger via sync cable if the ash has a sync port.
Tip: Turn o all devices – ashes/strobes,
cameras, and Phottix Ares transmitters and
receivers - when connecting and disconnecting
devices.
Please Note
1. Press the battery cover in while pushing it
away from the Ares transmitter or receiver. The
battery cover will snap open.
2. Remove the battery cover from the Ares.
3. Insert AA batteries as shown inside the
battery compartment.
4. Replace the battery cover and push back into
the locked position.
Inserting Batteries
1. The Transmitter Test Button will test re
remote ashes/strobes.
2. To Test: Press the Transmitter Test Button –
ashes/strobes connected to Phottix Ares
receivers on the same channel will re.

1. The Status LED on the front of the Phottix
Ares transmitter will ash green approximately
every one second when in standby mode. It will
turn red when a signal is being transmitted.
2. The Status LED on the Phottix Ares receiver
will ash green approximately every one
second while in standby mode. The LED will
turn red when a signal is received from the
transmitter.
3. When battery power is low the Status LED on
the transmitter or receiver will quickly ash red
indicating low power and the need to change
batteries.
Status LED
1. The Phottix Ares has eight channel settings.
2. Press the Channel Adjustment Buttons (left
or right) on the transmitter or receiver to set
the channel.
3. Channel Numbers 1 to 8 will illuminate on
the transmitter or receiver to indicate which
channel the device is set to.
4. Phottix Ares transmitters will only trigger
receivers set to the same channel.
Setting Channels
1. To turn on the Phottix Ares transmitter or
Turning Transmitter and Receiver
On/O
receiver - move the power switch to the “ON”
position.
2. To turn o the Phottix Ares transmitter or
receiver - move the power switch to the “OFF”
position.

1. To re all ashes or strobes on receivers set to
dierent channels press the Fire All Button on
the transmitter.
2. The Channel Numbers 1 to 8 will illuminate.
3. All nearby Ares receivers set to any channel in
standby mode will re connected ashes/
strobes.
4. To turn o Fire All mode press the Fire All
Button. The channel selection will revert to its
previous setting.

1. Turn o the camera and Phottix Ares transmit-
ter.
2. Slide the Ares transmitter into the camera’s
The Phottix Ares transmitter can be used in an
up or down position.
1. To lower the transmitter: After mounting,
gently push the Ares transmitter forward to use
in the down position. The transmitter will lock
in place in the down position.
2. To raise the transmitter: gently pull the Ares
transmitter up. The transmitter will lock in
place in the up position.

3. Turn the Ares locking ring until tight.
4. Turn on the camera, Ares transmitter and set
the shooting mode to Manual.

1. Turn o the ash/strobe and the Phottix Ares
receiver.
2. Connect a cable to the receiver’s 3.5 mm Sync
Port.
3. Connect the opposite end of the cable to a
ash or studio strobe (A 6.3 mm adapter is
included for studio strobes with larger ports).
4. Turn on the ash/strobe and the Phottix Ares
receiver. Set the ash/strobe to Manual mode.
* It is not unusual for the ash to discharge once
after turning on the Phottix Ares.
Connecting a ash/strobe to the
Ares receiver by sync cable
1. Turn o the ash and the Phottix Ares
receiver.
2. Slide the ash into the receiver’s hot shoe
mount.
3. Lock the ash with the ash’s locking mecha-
nism.
4. Turn on the ash and the Phottix Ares
receiver.
5. Set the ash to Manual mode.
* It is not unusual for the ash to discharge once
after turning on the Phottix Ares.

1. Phottix Ares Empfänger sind für den manuel-
len Modus der Kamera und des Blitzes konzipi-
ert und arbeiten nicht im TTL-Modus.
2. Phottix Ares Empfänger lösen die Blitzgeräte
über den Mittenkontakt aus. Einige Blitzgeräte
von Drittanbietern können nicht über den
Mittenkontakt ausgelöst werden, benutzen Sie
hier bitte den Synchronanschluss (falls vorhan-
den) per Kabelverbindung.
Hinweis: Schalten Sie alle Geräte aus.
Kamera, Blitzgeräte und Phottix Ares
(Empfänger/Sender) müssen während der
Montage/Demontage ausgeschaltet sein.
Bitte beachten
1. Drücken und schieben Sie den Batteriefach-
Batterien einsetzen
1. Die Testtaste löst angeschlossene Blitzgeräte
zum Testen aus, dazu muss keine Kamera
angeschlossen sein.
2. Testvorgang: Drücken Sie die Testtaste am
Sender - Blitzgeräte, die am Phottix Ares
Empfänger angeschlossen sind und den selben
Kanal eingestellt haben, werden ausgelöst.

2. Entfernen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel vom
Ares Sender oder Empfänger.
3. Setzen Sie die AA/Mignon Batterien/Akkus in
das Batteriefach ein (auf korrekte Polarität
achten).
4. Verschließen Sie das Batteriefach mit dem
Batteriefachdeckel bis er einrastet.

1. Die Status LED des Phottix Ares Senders blinkt
sekündlich grün wenn der Sender eingeschaltet
ist (Standby-Modus). Die LED leuchtet rot, wenn
ein Signal übertragen wird.
2. Die Status LED des Phottix Ares Empfängers
blinkt sekündlich grün wenn der Empfänger
eingeschaltet ist (Standby-Modus). Die LED
leuchtet rot, wenn der Empfänger ein Signal
vom Sender empfängt.
3. Wenn die Status LED schnell rot blinkt, sind
die Batterien/Akkus sehr schwach und sollten
schnellstmöglich gewechselt werden.
Status LED
1. Der Phottix Ares verfügt über 8 Kanäle.
2. Wählen Sie mit den Kanal-Auswahltasten
(rechts/links) den Kanal am Sender und Emp-
fänger aus.
3. Die Kanalnummern 1-8 leuchten am
Sender/Empfänger auf, somit kann der
eingestellte Kanal erkannt werden.
4. Phottix Ares Sender lösen nur die Empfän-
ger aus, die sich im selben Kanal benden
(außer im Fire-All-Modus).
Kanäle einstellen
1. Zum Einschalten des Phottix Ares Senders
oder Empfängers schalten Sie den Powerschal-

2. Zum Ausschalten des Phottix Ares Senders
oder Empfängers schalten Sie den Powerschal-
ter auf „OFF“.

1. Kamera und Phottix Ares Sender ausschalten.
2. Schieben Sie den Ares Sender in den
Blitzschuh der Kamera.
3. Ziehen Sie das Feststellrad am Ares fest.
Ares Sender mit Kamera verbinden
Der Phottix Ares kann in aufrechter oder
liegender Position verwendet werden.
1. Liegende Position: Nach der Montage kann
der Sender in die liegende Position gekippt
werden bis er einrastet.
2. Aufrechte Position: Kippen Sie den Ares
Sender in die aufrechte Position bis er
einrastet.
Position des Ares Senders verstellen
1. Schalten Sie das Blitzgerät und den Phottix
Ares Empfänger aus.
Blitzgerät mit Ares Empfänger
verbinden
1. Um alle Blitze, auch auf unterschiedlichen
Kanälen auszulösen, drücken Sie die Fire-All-
Taste.
2. Die Kanalnummern 1-8 leuchten auf.
3. Alle Ares Empfänger in Reichweite, die sich im
Standby-Modus benden werden ausgelöst.
4. Zum Ausschalten des Fire-All-Modus drücken
Sie die Fire-All-Taste. Die Kanalauswahl wird auf
die vorherige Einstellung zurückgesetzt.

4. Schalten Sie die Kamera und den Phottix
Ares ein und wählen Sie an der Kamera den
manuellen Modus (siehe Kamerahandbuch).

1. Schalten Sie das Blitzgerät und den Phottix
Ares Empfänger aus.
2. Stecken Sie den Stecker des Kabels in die
Blitzgerät mit Ares Empfänger via
Sync-Kabel verbinden

2. Schieben Sie das Blitzgerät auf den Blitzschuh
des Empfängers.
3. Fixieren Sie den Blitz mit dem eventuell
vorhandenen Locksystem.
4. Schalten Sie das Blitzgerät und den Phottix
Ares Empfänger ein.
5. Wählen Sie im Menü des Blitzgerätes den
manuellen Modus (Empfänger überträgt keine
TTL-Daten).
* Hinweis: Beim Einschalten des Phottix Ares
kann es zu einer Blitzauslösung kommen.
3,5mm Synchronbuchse des Empfängers.
3. Stecken Sie den Stecker am anderen Ende des
Kabels in die 3,5mm Synchronbuchse des
Blitzgerätes. Ein 6,3mm Adapter für Studioblitze
mit einer 6,3mm Buchse ist im Lieferumfang
enthalten.
4. Schalten Sie das Blitzgerät und den Phottix
Ares Empfänger ein. Wählen Sie im Menü des
Blitzgerätes den manuellen Modus (siehe
Handbuch des Blitzes).
* Hinweis: Beim Einschalten des Phottix Ares
kann es zu einer Blitzauslösung kommen.
