ThedevicemeetstherequirementsofENISO138491uptoPLeandENIEC62061upto
SILCL3.Forexample,itisdesignedforusewith

IntendeduseincludesmakingtheelectricalinstallationEMCcompliant.Theproductisde
signedforuseinanindustrialenvironment.Itisnotsuitableforuseinadomesticenviron
ment,asthiscanleadtointerference.

system.
}Theoutputsonthesafetycontrolsystemusedtoactivatefastshutdownmustbetested
todetectshortsacrosscontactsandearthfaults.
}ThefaultsignaloutputO3mustbeevaluatedtogetherwithstatusoutputsO4(ifO1+/
O1isused)andO5(ifO2+/O2isused),ifthisisdemandedbytheplant/machine's
safetyrequirements.Processingofthesesignalsisusedtocheckthefeasibilityofthe
signalstates.Evaluationofthesesignalsmustbesuitabletoachieveasafecondition
fortheapplication.
Demandsontheconnected,inductiveload
}Theinductiveloadmustguaranteethedemandsonthesafetyfunctioninadeener
gisedstate.Forexample,inadeenergisedstateaconnectedsafebrakemustalways
beapplied,muststopahazardousmovementandmustpreventunintendedstartup.
Slowshutdownintheeventofafault
}Whendesigningasafeapplication,youshouldconsiderthataslowshutdowninstead
ofafastshutdownmaybeeffectiveintheeventofafault.Aconnectedbrakemayhave
alongerstoppingdistance.
Slowshutdown
}Thepowercircuit'sslowshutdownisnotsafetyrelated.Itmayonlybeusedwhenper
mittedbythehazardanalysis.

slowshutdown.Thatwaytheloadhasadualpoleshutdown.
Measurestopreventunexpectedstartup

movementsfromplantstandstill.
Wiringmeasures
}TheeffectivecurrentatterminalsB1/B2tosupplythepowercircuitsmustnotexceed

Youshouldcheckthisatregularintervals.Theaimoftheseregularchecksistouncover
anychangestotheplant/machine,safetyfunctionsandambientconditions.Inparticular
youshouldregularlycheckthefunctionoftheconnectedbrake.
Youmustcomplywiththerequirementsoftheapplicablenationalregulations.
Theintervalsyouselectwilldependontheapplication,theoverallsystemandtheassoci
atedriskanalysis.

Theproductsmayonlybeassembled,installed,programmed,commissioned,operated,
maintainedanddecommissionedbycompetentpersons.
Acompetentpersonissomeonewho,becauseoftheirtraining,experienceandcurrentpro
fessionalactivity,hasthespecialistknowledgerequiredtotest,assessandoperatethe
workequipment,devices,systems,plantandmachineryinaccordancewiththegeneral
standardsandguidelinesforsafetytechnology.
Itisthecompany’sresponsibilityonlytoemploypersonnelwho:

4.1 Introduction
ThePWMrelayPNOZs50isusedforthesafetyrelatedshutdownofinductiveloads.
Ithastwopoweroutputstoactivatetwoindependent,inductiveloads.Eachpowercircuitis
switchedindependentlybytwoinputs.Twofeedbackloopsmonitortheswitchstatusofthe
inductiveloads.Twofailsafeoutputssignaltheswitchstatusoftheinductiveloadstothe
higherlevelsafetycontrolsystem.Afailsafefaultsignaloutputsignalsanyfaulttoahigher
levelsafetycontrolsystem.
Thedeviceisconfigurable.Alltheparameterscanbesetviaarotaryknobwithpushbutton.
Thestateoftheinputsandoutputs,theconfigurationandanyfaultsareshownonadis
play.Theconfigurationisstoredonachipcard.
Thereisanintegratedcounter,whichrecordsthenumberofoperationsforeachpowercir
cuit.
