Thank you for purchasing PLANET Industrial L3 Managed Ethernet Switch.
“Industrial Managed Switch” is used as an alternative name in this Quick
InstallationGuide.
Open the box of the Industrial Managed Switch and carefully unpack it. The box

2. Requirements
The Industrial Managed Switch provides remote login interface for management
purposes.Thefollowingequipmentisnecessaryforfurthermanagement:
zWorkstations running Windows 10/XP/2003/Vista/7/8/2008, MAC OS X or later,
Linux,UNIX,orotherplatformsarecompatiblewithTCP/IPProtocols.
zWorkstationsareinstalledwithEthernetNIC(NetworkInterfaceCard)
zSerialPortConnection(Terminal)
The above Workstations come with COM Port (DB9) or USB-to-RS232
converter.
The above Workstations have been installed with terminal emulator, such as
HyperTerminalincludedinWindowsXP/2003,puttyorTeraTerm.
Serial cable -- one end is attached to the RS232 serial port, while the other
endtotheconsoleportoftheIndustrialManagedSwitch.
zEthernetPortConnection
Networkcables--Usestandardnetwork(UTP)cableswithRJ45connectors.
The above PC is installed with Web browser and JAVA runtime environment
plug-in.
Note
It is recommended to use Internet Explore 8.0 or above to access
the Industrial Managed Switch. If the Web interface of the Indus-
trialManagedSwitchisnot accessible,pleaseturnoff theanti-virus
softwareorfirewallandthentryitagain.

3. Wiring DC Power Inputs
The 6-contact terminal block connector on the panel of Industrial Managed Switch
isused for two DCredundant powers input. Please follow the steps below to insert
the power wires.
1.Insert positive/negative DC power wires into contacts 1 and 2 for DC POWER 1,
or5and6forDCPOWER2.

4. Terminal Setup
Tocongure the system,connecta serialcable toaCOMport onaPCor notebook
computerandtoRJ45typeofserialportoftheIndustrialManagedSwitch.

A terminal program is required to make the software connection to the Industrial
ManagedSwitch.
1. Run terminal program on the OS.
2.When the following screen appears, make sure that the COM port should be
conguredas:
Baud:115200
Databits:8
Parity:None
Stopbits:1
Flowcontrol:None

4.1. Logging on to Console
Once the terminal is connected to the device, power on the Industrial Managed
Switchandtheterminalwilldisplay“runningtestingprocedures”.
Then, the following message asks to log in user name and password. The factory
default user name and password are shown as follows and the login screen in
Figure4-3appears.

The user can now enter commands to manage the Industrial Managed Switch. For
adetaileddescriptionofthecommands,pleaserefertothefollowingchapters.
Note
1.For security reason, please change and memorize the new pass-
wordafterthisfirstsetup.
2.Only accept command in lowercase letter under console inter-
face.

To check the current IP address or modify a new IP address for the Switch, please
usetheproceduresasfollows:

3.At the “#” prompt, enter the following command and press <Enter> as shown
inFigure4-5.

The previous command would apply the following settings for the Industrial

If the IP is successfully congured, the Industrial Managed Switch will apply the
new IP address setting immediately. You can access the Web interface of the
IndustrialManagedSwitchthroughthenewIPaddress.

If you are not familiar with the console command or the related
parameter,enter “help” anytimein consoletogetthe helpdescrip-
tion.

5. Starting Web Management
The following shows how to start up the Web Management of the Industrial
Managed Switch. Note the Industrial Managed Switch is congured through an
Ethernet connection. Please make sure the manager PC must be set to the same
IP subnet address.
For example, the default IP address of the Industrial Managed Switch is
192.168.0.100, then the manager PC should be set to 192.168.0.x (where x
is a number between 1 and 254, except 100), and the default subnet mask is
255.255.255.0.

5.1 Logging in to the Industrial Managed Switch
1.Use Internet Explorer 8.0 or above Web browser and enter IP address
http://192.168.0.100(thefactorydefaultIPaddressortheonethatyouhave
justchangedinconsole)toaccesstheWebinterface.
2.When the following dialog box appears, please enter the default user name and
password “admin” (or the password you have changed via console). The login
screeninFigure5-2appears.

The Switch Main Menu is shown on top of the Web page, and the functions are
shownonthelefttoconguretheIndustrialManagedSwitch.

Now, you can use the Web management interface to continue the Switch
management or manage the Switch by console interface. Please refer to the user’s
manualformore.

If you are not familiar with Switch functions or the related param-
eter, press “Help icon” anytime on the Web page to get the help
description.

5.2.SavingCongurationviaWeb
In the Industrial Managed Switch, the running conguration stores in the RAM. In
the current version, the running conguration sequence of running-cong can be
saved from the RAM to FLASH by executing save startup cong command, so that
the running conguration sequence becomes the startup conguration le, which is
calledcongurationsave.
To save all applied changes and set the current conguration as a startup
conguration, the startup-conguration le will be loaded automatically across a
system reboot.
1. Click Maintenance > Switch Maintenance > Save Startup Cong.

6.RecoveringBacktoDefaultConguration
IP address has been changed or admin password has been
forgotten –
To reset the IP address to the default IP address “192.168.0.100” or reset the
login password to default value, press the hardware reset button on the rear
panel for about 10 seconds. After the device is rebooted, you can log in the
managementWebinterfacewithinthesamesubnetof192.168.0.xx.
