EXHAUST VALVE
The Exhaust Valve has to be installed with the notch (at rear) to the right. The Tab of Exhaust Valve and
the Backup Plate must be positioned between the two pins on the Exhaust Valve Plate. See Fig. 2 below.
INTAKE VALVE
The Intake Valve has to be installed with the notch (at rear) to the left. The Tab of Intake Valve Reed and
the Backup Plate must be positioned between the two pins on the Cylinder Head. See Fig. 1 below.
ACCELERATOR PLATE
Apply Loctite® Ultra Black 598 RTV three places ¼” long equally spaced around the circumference of the
accelerator plate to facilitate assembly. Accelerator plate Ref.#33 indention must line up with fuel feed
pin on head Ref. #32.
DRIVER BLADE
Ref. 49 Roll Pin and Ref. 50 Roll Pin must be installed with the Slots 180° apart. See Fig. 3 below.
HEAD TORQUE PATTERN
Each time head Ref. #32 is installed/reinstalled, a specific torquing pattern must be observed. Use the
diagram below and torque head to 55 to 65 in. lb. with hand torque wrench. See Fig. 4 below.
ELECTRODE BRACKET - Ref. 97
The electrode bracket should be assembled so the tip is in the area opposite the Valve Support, Ref. 41,
orientation bosses in the Head Assembly, Ref. 32, as shown in Fig. 1.

SPARK PLUG
Coat Ref. 40 (890244) Spark Plug threads first with Primer-N prior to assembly and torque to 15 –20 in. lb.,
then apply one drop of Loctite® 290.
Apply Dielectric Grease Part No.#893766 to end of spark plug before installing lead.
DRIVER SEAL REF. #54
Seal, Ref. #54, is marked with the word “OUT”. Install this side out and orient seal to match driver blade
profile.
LUBRICANTS
Do not use oil or grease on this unit except as specified in instruction manual.
CLAMP REF.#91
Clamp Ref. #91, should be installed with Oetiker Pincers (Model 10981) or Chaftsman®
(Model 945175)

To ease assembly of the subject part, lightly lubricate with soapy water or hand soap prior to pressing into
cylinder.
PUMP HOUSING REF. 4 & MAGAZINE WASHER REF. 127
Units have been built with 2 different pump housings. They can be identified by the casting number which is
located between the 2 magazine screw mounting bosses. Pump housings with casting number 880394 require
washer 848741(Ref. # 127) and this washer should be added to units that don't have them.
Pump housings with casting number 891141 don't require these washers and when servicing units with this
housing the washers should be discarded.
AIR FILTER REF. 69
Air filters should be lightly oiled with automotive oil SAE 5 or 10(do not use multi viscosity oils) or
similar before installation. Blot excess oil with paper towel.
It is highly recommended that the air filter be replaced when it requires servicing. However, if a new
filter is not available the filter can be washed in a solution of warm soapy water, thoroughly dried, oiled
per the above, excess oil blotted with paper towel, and reused.
INSTALLING SCREWS & NUTS
Use hand tools only to reassemble unit. DO NOT USE POWER TOOLS.
When reassembling unit proper torque’s and adhesives must be used. Failure to follow this guideline will
result in premature failure.
