BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS: ELITE TRAVELLER SERIES
NOTE: These instructions apply to the Elite Traveller, Elite Traveller Plus, and Elite Traveller Plus HD
Travel Scooters.
Anyelectromechanicaldevicerequiresoccasionaltroubleshooting.However,mostproblemsthatarisecanusuallybe
solvedwithabitof thoughtandcommon sense.Manyof theseproblemsoccur becausethebatteries arenotfully charged
or because the batteries are worn down and can no longer hold a charge. Below are a series of basic troubleshooting
instructions for the Travel Scooter.This information is to be used as a supplement to the troubleshooting instructions
providedintheowner’smanual.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsaboutthisinformation, contactyourauthorizedPrideProvider.
WhatifmyTravelScooterwillnotpowerup?
Makesurethe keyisfullyinserted intothekeyswitch.
Makesurethebatterypackisseatedproperly(tightandsecure)ontheTravelScooter.
Makesurethe batteryquick-disconnectharness connections arefullyjoined.
Makesurethebatteriesarewiredproperly—redto positive (+) and black to negative (-).
Makesurethe main circuitbreakerhasnottripped—push in themaincircuitbreakerreset button.
Whatif the rangepercharge ofmyTravelScooterdiminishesovertime?
Determineif the batterieshaveever been replaced.Batteries over a year old may be defective.
Determinehowfrequentlyyouchargethebatteriesincomparison to howoftenyouusetheTravelScooter.
IfyouuseyourTravelScooteron a daily basis, you should chargethebatterieseverydayfor8-14hours.
Determinewhenthebatterieswerelastcharged. Even if the scooterhasnotbeeninuse,thebatteries should be
charged once a week for 12-14 hours.
Determinehowlong you letthebatteriescharge. It takes 8-14 hours to fully charge a depleted set of batteries;
continualunderchargingreducestheoveralllifeofthe batteries.
Withthebattery box installedonthescooter,observe the batteryconditionmeterduring batterycharging
to determine if the batteries are receiving a charge. If the battery condition meter does not go up when the
batterychargeris pluggedintothecharger powercordreceptacleand anelectricaloutlet,the batteriesarenotgetting
charged.Checkthecharger fuse andensuretheelectricaloutletis good.
Determineifawallswitchcontrolstheelectricaloutlet.If a wall switch does control the outlet and the switch is
turnedoffinadvertently,thebatterieswillnotfullycharge.
Isanextensioncordbeingusedtoconnectthebatterychargertotheelectricaloutlet? Pride prohibits the use
ofanextensioncordwhenchargingthebatteries.Thechargershouldbepluggeddirectlyintoaproperly-wiredstandard
electricaloutletas the lengthandconditionofthe extension cordcanhavean adverse affectonthebatterycharger.
Determinehowfaryouletthebatteryconditionmetergodownbeforechargingthebatteries.Ifyou continually
allowthebattery conditionmeterindicatorto fallintothered area,theoveralllife ofthebatterieswill be reduced.
WhatiftheTravelScooterpowers up, butwillnotmove?
Checkifthekeyhasbeenleft in the key switchfora long period ofinactivity.TheTravelScooterhas a Power
DownTimerfeaturethatwillpowerdowntheinternal electronicsoftheTravelScooter afterlongperiodsofinactivity
toconservebatterypower.Removethenreinsertthekey to restore normal operation.
Checkif the batterychargeris pluggedinto the chargerpowercord receptacleon the Travel Scooter.The
batterychargerwillinhibittheTravelScooterwhenthechargerispluggedintothechargerpowercordreceptacleeven
ifthe chargerisnotpluggedintoanelectricaloutlet.
CheckiftheTravelScooter isemittingabeep code.The controller used on the Travel Scooter will beep a fault
codewhenit hasindicatedaproblem with theTravelScooter.The numberofbeepswill indicate thefault.

Whatifthebattery condition meterdipswaydownandthe motor surgesorhesitateswhenI press the throttle

Fullychargethe batteries. Pride recommendsyouchargethebatteries for 8-14 hours.
