smoke alarm that operates on a 240V power source with a sealed
rechargeable lithium battery backup. This advanced smoke alarm has
the ability to function as a stand alone unit or in an interconnected

This alarm uses photoelectric sensing technology. Photoelectric sensing
alarmsmaydetectvisibleparticles(associatedwithsmolderingres)
sooner than ionisation alarms. Ionisation sensing alarms may detect
invisiblereparticles(associatedwithamingres)soonerthan
photoelectric alarms.
PSA Products strongly recommends that both ionisation and
photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum
detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home.

ThesmokealarmshallbePSALifesavermodelLIF5800RForapprovedequal.Itshall
be powered by a 240VAC, 50Hz source along with a fixed rechargeable lithium
battery backup. The unit shall incorporate photoelectric sensing technology with
insect screen protection. The temperature operation range shall be between 40˚F and
100˚F(4.4˚Cand37.8˚C)andthehumidityoperatingrangeshallbeupto85%relative
humidity. The smoke alarm shall be low profile mounted designed with an installed
dimensionof102mmwidex26mmhigh.Theelectricalconnection(tothealarm)shall
bemadewithaplug-inconnector.Amaximumof24PSALifesaverdevicescanbe
interconnected in a multiple station arrangement.
The alarm shall include a test button that will electronically simulate the presence of
smoke and cause the unit to go into alarm. This sequence tests the unit’s electronics,
battery and horn to ensure proper operation. The unit shall include a piezoelectric
hornthatisratedat85decibelsat3metres.SinglebuttonoperatesbothHushand
alarm test for easy operation and less confusion. The unit shall also include a low
battery warning utilizing a brief alarm chirp every 40 seconds for a minimum of seven
(7)days.TheunitshallincorporateredandblueLEDindicators.TheblueLEDindicates
thestatusofthealarm.TheredLEDisavisualindicatorofalarmandwarningchirps.
StandbyCondition:TheblueLEDwillbelitifonACpoweroroffifonbatterybackup.
AlarmCondition:Whenthealarmsensesproductsofcombustionandentersalarm
theredLEDwillblinkinunisonwiththesounder.TheashingredLEDsandpulsating
alarm will continue until the air is cleared. Should the units is in an interconnected
system,itwillsoundanalarmandashtheredLEDandtheblueLEDwillremainatis
standbystate.AlarmMemory:Thissmokealarmisequippedwithanalarmmemory,
whichprovidesavisualindicationwhenanalarmhasbeenactivated.TheredLED
will be lit on solid if the unit is the initiating alarm in an interconnected system. All
otherunitswillsoundandtheredLEDashes.HushMode:TheHushmodewillbe
over ridden if there is heavy presence of smoke particles in the air. The unit shall at a
minimummeettherequirementsofAS3786:andisActivrelisted.Itshallalsoinclude

Installation of Smoke Alarm
ThePSALifesaver5800RFiseasytoinstallby
drillinga90mmholeintotheplasterceiling.The
unit is fitted with spring toggle clips to secure
the smoke alarm behind the ceiling. The unit is
connected to the power using a supplied 4 pin
power connector and lead with terminal block for
safe and easy installation.
