Unpack Your MACH-6:
Remove the printer and accessories
from the packaging. Store the packing
material in a safe place.
Set the printer onto a stable, level
surface. Use a carpenter’s level to
make any adjustments to the work
table where the MACH-6 will be
operating. Level is very important to
the proper operation of the printer.
Do not move the MACH-6 while the
power is on.
It is critical that you read and
understand the MACH-6 User Guide.
Improper use can result in damage to
the unit.
Remove Shipping Materials:
WARNING:
DO NOT PLUG IN OR POWER UP THE
PRINTER BEFORE REMOVING THE YELLOW
ZIP-TIES! DAMAGE TO PRINTER MAY
RESULT!
Please remove packing materials as
shown below.
Open the Printhead Door.
Remove the Foam Shipping Block.
Carefully cut and remove the two
yellow zip-ties as shown below.
Do NOT cut black or white zip-ties.
Locate the Print Platens (two) and Drip
Tray in the accessory box (wrapped in
foam). See User Guide for selecting the
appropriate Platen and installing the
Print Platen and Drip Tray Assembly
into printer.
Locate the Media Side Guides and
Rear Media Support Guide/Sled in the
accessory box (wrapped in foam).
See User Guide for installation
instructions.

Connect Power and Power-
up the Printer:
Make sure that the Main Power Switch
[1] is in the OFF position.
Plug the AC Power Cord into a 100-
240 VAC, 50/60 Hz grounded outlet.
The use of a power protection device
is highly recommended.
Plug the other end of the AC Power
Cord into the receptacle [2] on the
printer.
USB Port [3] – Identified for Step 6
Install Ink Tanks: Open the Ink Tank
Door and release the Ink Tank Latches.
Insert the five Ink Tanks, label side up,
into their appropriate color slots (latches
are marked). Pull Tanks back about
an inch then re-insert to make a good
connection. Close latches ensuring both
sides, at bottom of latch, snap into place.
Check the Touchscreen to verify all Ink
Tanks are recognized.
Load MACH-6 Software:
The following process is for
connecting the printer via USB. If
you plan to connect via Ethernet
(Network), please see the User Guide
for instructions:
kbhelp.quadient.com/mach6_ug_en
When the installer program says to
connect the printer to the computer,
plug the USB cable into the printer’s
USB port (item 3 in Step 4) and
then to your computer. Continue to
follow the prompts and accept any
messages from Windows asking if
you wish to continue the installation.
If your firewall asks for permission,
grant access to the software. Once
complete, you will see the “S Series
Driver” in your list of available printers.
The “Toolbox” is also installed during
this process. It provides monitoring
and advanced control of your MACH-
6 from your computer. Look for
“S Series Driver Toolbox” located
within the “Memjet” folder from the
computer’s Start Menu.
Power-up the Printer.
Turn ON the Main Power Switch [1] and
then press the Soft-Power Button [4].
Button will illuminate with blue light.
After Soft-Power Button is pressed,
it will take about 30 seconds before
information will appear in the
Touchscreen Display. Clamshell section
will raise fully to recalibrate position,
and then lower to the current Media
Thickness setting.

Install Printhead: Open the Printhead Door
and verify that the Printhead Latch is open.
If not, release the Printhead Latch using
the Touchscreen (Menu, Setup, Release
Printhead). Fully open the Printhead Latch
and Remove the Fluidic Cap Protectors.
WARNING:
Never attempt to open the Printhead
Latch manually when in the closed/
locked position. Severe damage will
result. Use the Printhead Release button
from the Touchscreen.
Remove the Printhead from its packaging.
Gently remove the two pieces
of protective tape. Wet a lint-
free cloth with distilled water
and wipe the Printhead nozzles.
Be careful; don’t wet the
electrical contacts.
Insert the cartridge on an angle so the ink
ports face the ink couplings and click it
forward into place. Once the cartridge is
installed, slowly close the Printhead Latch.
Close the Printhead Door to start the
Printhead priming process. All doors must
remain shut during this process. This process
will take a few minutes. When finished,
Touchscreen will display the ONLINE
condition.
