Owner’s Manual
for installing, setting up and using your new product
What’s Included
Step One
Twin Motors -steerand
propelyoursubmarineat
speeds of up to 50feet
per minute.
Your submarine can dive in water up to 3 feet (1 meter)
deep. You can steer it inany direction.
Your submarine comes in one of two frequencies
(27 MHz and49 MHz), so you can race with your
friends. Check the box to see the frequency you have.

Installing Batteries
You need:
• A 9V battery
• 4 AA batteries
• Phillips screwdriver
In the Transmitter
In the Submarine
1. While holding down the
button on the back of the
submarine, turn the
submarine’s tail counter-
clockwise until it stops.
4. Insert thebatteriesand
push the battery
compartment into the
submarine. The battery
compartment fits only one
way. Do not force it.
3. Use an object such as a
flat screwdriver to gently
pry the battery
compartment out of the
submarine.
2. Remove the tail.
1. Loosen thescrew on the
battery compartment cover
with a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Insert a 9V battery.
4. Replaceand securethe cover.
2. Remove the cover.
5. Replace the tail on
thesubmarineand
turn it clockwise
to lock it.
Balancing the Submarine
You must balance your submarine
soitworkscorrectly.Tocheckyour
submarine’s balance, float it in a
body ofwater such asa sinkor
bathtubwiththebatteriesinstalled.
If the submarine doesnot float
evenly, adjust the ballasts in the
ballast compartment.
To open the ballast compartment,
usea coin to turn the latch on the
bottomofthesubmarinetoopenit.
Then lift up the ballast
compartment cover.
If the submarine sinksin the water so thatthe top of the
periscopeisunderwater, remove a few ballasts evenly from
both sides.
If the submarine slants to one side or the other, remove
ballasts from the opposite side.
Thebestbalancedpositioniswhenthewatercoversthesubmarine’s
body,leaving onlythetopoftheperiscopevisibleabovethewater.

Sailing the Submarine
1. Press ON/OFF on the transmitter.
2. Press the periscope onthe submarine to turn it
on. The light on thefront and top ofthe
submarine turns on.
3. Holdthesubmarinetail(donottouchpropellers)
and immerseit in water for about four seconds
so that water covers the periscope, and theair
inside the submarine is released.
4. Release thesubmarine to move forward.
5. Use the transmitter buttons to control
submarine movement.
6. When you finish sailing,press ON/OFF on the
submarine toturn it off. Remove batteries from
the submarine and transmitter. Empty all water
from the submarine’s hull and dry thoroughly.
Leave thesubmarine’s battery compartment
open to let moisture evaporate.
DOWN - Makes the
submarine dive. RIGHT - Steers the
submarine right.
ON/OFF - Turns
thetransmitteron
and off.
UP - Makes the submarine surface.
LEFT -Steers the
submarine left.
• Aswithanyproductdesignedto beusedin andaroundwater, childrenplaying
with this toy should be supervised by an ADULT.
• Do not use the submarine in strong currents, insalt water, or inany body of
water with largewaves.
• Never touchthe propellers while they are spinning.
• Never play with the submarine in strong winds or during a thunderstorm.
• Donotletthe submarinedivemorethan3 feet (1 meter). Youmight losecontrolofit.
• Be careful not to wade into deep water or strong currents while playing with
the submarine.When the submarine goes outside the transmitter’s control
range, holdthe transmitter ashigh as possible with the antennavertical to
reestablish contact. If you cannot, move closer to the submarine then tryagain.
• Always turn on the transmitter first, then the submarine. Always turn off the
submarinefirst, then the transmitter.Otherwise,your submarinemightpickup
otherradiowavesandstartmovingwhilethetransmitter isoff.Ifthis happens,
immediately turnon the transmitter to bring the submarine under control.
• Donotlet the submarinerunaground.Keep it away from grass growing in the
water and otherdebris that could cause propeller damage.These items can
jam the propellersand stop the submarine awayfrom the shore.
• When the batteries begin to losepower, the submarineslows down. To be
sure the submarinecan make it back to the shore, always guide it in as soon
as you notice itslowing down.
• Do not leave your submarinein the waterwhen you finish playing. Water
might seep into the hull and damage electronic parts.
To use your R/C Submarine for a long time:
• Never playwith your submarine in salt water;
doing somight rust orcorrode its parts.
• Use and store the submarine only innormal
temperature environments.
• Handlethe submarine gently andcarefully; do
not drop it.
• Keep the submarine away from dust and dirt.
• Use a clean towel to wipe the submarinedry
after playing with it.
• Do not use chemicals to clean the submarine
as they can damage the body.

In the event of a product defect during the warranty period, take the product and the RadioShack sales receipt as

same or similar design; or (c) refund the purchase price. All replaced parts and products, and products on which a

Care
• Runningyoursubmarineforalongtimegenerateshighheatlevels.Tohelpkeepheatlevelsdown,whenyoursubmarine’sbatteriesdie,letitcool
for at least 10 minutesbefore installing freshbatteries.
• If the submarine runs but does not steer, move closer to the submarineandtryagain.
• If somebody uses aCB radio nearby, it mightinterfere with the submarine. If thishappens, move thesubmarineawayfrom theCB.
• You cannot operate thesubmarine near devices with transmitters that use the same frequencyasyoursubmarine(27MHzor 49 MHz).Check
theboxtosee which frequency you have.
