Statement
This document is a guide to simple and convenient hardware installation. Please read it carefully before installation to
prevent bodily injury or device damage.
The device installation personnel must be well trained before installation to master correct installation operations and
safety precautions.
Device installation shall follow local safety regulations. Precautions listed in this document are suppliments to local
safety regulartions. Raisecom shall not be liable for any accidents if common safety operation requirements are
violated, or design, manufacturing, or usage security standards for devices are violated.
High-voltage safety
Do not install or remove the device when it is powered on, to prevent unpredictable bodily injury.
Use special tools instead of common tools when conducting operations in high voltage and AC power conditions.
Keep the device away from moisture. Once the device is dampened, power it off immediately.
Grounding safety
Ensure correct grounding before installing cables. Avoid installing the device before it is grounded.
Laser safety
Before cutting or welding the fiber, disconnect the fiber and the optical source.
Do not stare into the laser output interface to avoid eye injury.
Power cable safety
Turn off the power or disconnect the power before installing/removing power cables.
Make sure that the label of the power cable is correct before connecting the power cable.
Use a qualified power cable. Do not use a power cable that fails to meet the specifications.

Electrostatic discharge safety
Any time when contacting the device, you must wear an Electro-Static
Discharge (ESD) wrist strap or ESD gloves.
Ensure that the ESD wrist strap is in maximum contact with your bare
skin and have the other end of the ESD wrist grounded.

Power supply
conditions
The power consumption is 200 W when the device is at maximum load. Therefore, the power
supplied by the power supply must be greater than the maximum power consumption.

ESD protection
Take effective ESD measures. The absolute value of electrostatic voltage should be less than
1000 V.
Grounding condition
The device should adopt common earthing mode, with a ground resistance not greater than 1 Ω.
Installation tools
Flathead screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, adjustable spanner, cable cutter, wire stripper, ESD
glove, ESD wrist strap, PON optical power meter, multimeter, ground resistance tester, cable
tester, and crystal head crimping pliers

1. Install cage nuts. The ISCOM6820-GP is 2U high. Therefore, you have to make an installation plan first to
reserve enough space for device installation.
2. Mark the position of the guide rail. Install guide rails or tray before installing the ISCOM6820-GP in the
cabinet. Pinpoint the location of the guide rails according to the bottom edges of the lowest installation holes
and mark the position.
3. Install guide rails. Install guide rails according to the mark made in step 2.

4. Install brackets. Install brackets on the device according to the bracket installation holes at both sides of the
device.
5. Slide the device into the cabinet slowly.
6. Secure the device to the cabinet with screws.

1. Remove the blank panel.
2. Install components.
3. Insert components steadily.
4. Tighten the captive screws.
5. Uplift the fan to the fan slot on the left side of the chassis,
push it into the slot, and then tighten the captive screws on
the fan.
6. Uplift the dust screen to the dust screen slot on the left
side of the chassis, push it into the slot, and then tighten the
captive screws on the dust screen.

1. Insert the DC power connector into the power
interface on the power card.
2. Tighten the screws on the connector.
3. Connect the other end of the DC power cable to a
DC Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE).
Do not reverse the polarity of the DC power
supply. Reverse polarity connection may damage
the device.
Do not power the device before completing device
installation and routing cables.
1. Remove screws from the dust screen.
2. Pull the dust screen out.
3. Remove the fixed screws from the dust screen.
4. Remove the fixed panel from the dust screen, replace or
clean the dust screen, and then install it back into the dust
screen holder according to the reverse process of the
disassembly process

After the device is powered on, LEDs of the power module and service cards should be in
correct status. If an interface is connected properly with a cable, its LNK/ACT LED should be
Green. If an interface is not connected with a cable, its LNK/ACT LED should be Off.

The fan module should work normally with LEDs in correct status. There should be air flow
around the device.

Test the optical power of an installed SFP with an optical power meter. The value displayed on
the meter is P1. Compare the P1 to specifications of the SFP optical module to verify whether
the optical module works properly.

Connect the optical fiber at the side of the ODF which is connected to the device with an optical
power meter. The value displayed on the meter is P2. If the difference between P2 and P1 is
smaller than 1 dB, it indicates that the fiber is correctly connected.
