Operation
Liquid gas ll level measurement
ThelevelmeasurementontheLPGtankiscarried
outpreciselyandcontactlessusingaHalleffect
sensor.Thetransmissionofthellinglevelsis
realizedwirelesslyviaradiotransmitteronthe
tank.Withinarangeof1.500mthetankcontentcan
bereadoffinpercentorlitersontheleveldisplay
(RFreceiver).
LEVELview.BASICisprotectedandapprovedfor
useinATEXZone1and0.Theunitmaybeinstalled
inthemanholechamberofundergroundtanks,
undertheprotectivehoodofabove-groundtanks
orfurtheroutsideinATEXZone1.
Caution! Opening the tank is not neces-
sarythankstothecontactlessmeasuring
methodandstrictlyforbiddentounau-
thorizedpersons!
Thesystemcanbeinstalledonthetankquicklyand
withoutcomplexwiring.

Step 1: Sensor and zero adjustment
Notethecurrentlllevelandremovetheexisting
dialbyremovingthetwoPhillipsscrews.

Caution! Onlyremovethetwoscrewsof
thedial.Neverloosenthefourhexagonal
screwsontheangeforfasteningthe
oat!Thereisariskofgasleakageand
explosion!
PlacethenewRCTdialintheholderandcompare
thenewlllevelwiththeoldone.Adeviationofup
to 2 % is within the tolerance.
Iftherearedeviationsofaround15%betweenthe
originalandtheRCTdial,anadapterofthetype
SRG705isrequired.IftheRCTdialissignicantly
smaller,contactRCTandaskfortherightadapter.

Step 2: Installing the sensor
Ifthell-leveldisplayedmatches,fastentheRCT
electronicdialwiththeenclosedscrews.

Step 3: Activating the transmitter
Activatethetransmitterbypluggingitintothe
batterypack.
(Fig. 4a)
Thetransmitterstartsimmediatelyandautomat
i-
callywiththemeasurementandleveltransmission.
Inthestartphase(Fig. 4b) it transmits at short
intervalsfortestingpurposes,after3minutesit
switches to normal operation (Fig. 4c).
Caution! Thepluggingandunpluggingof
thetransmitterandbatterypackduring
set-upandlaterbatterychangesshould
becarriedoutoutsideofATEXZone1.
Caution! Toforceanotherstartmessage,
separatethetransmitterandthebattery
pack.Thenwaitaround5minutes.
Changing the battery:Periodicalbatterychanges
canbecarriedoutwithoutwaitingtime.
Cyclical notications:Thedatatransferiscarried
outevery20minutes.Amessagecontainsthe
currentlllevelandthebatterylevel.

Step 4: Mounting the transmitter
Nowproceedwiththeinstallationofthetransmitter
andantenna.
Protect from water:Thetransmitterunitmustbe
installedinsothatitisprotectedfromwater.For
outdoorsystems,placetheunituprighttoprevent
waterfromenteringthebatterycontacts.
Mounting: Attachthetransmittertothetankorthe
wallofthemanholechamberusingthemagnets
integratedinthebatterypack(seearrowsbelow)
(Fig. 5),orwiththeoptionalbracket.
Caution! InExzone1,thecabletothe
sensormustbelaidcarefullytoavoid
damage.Makesurethatthecableisnot
kinkedorpinchedanddamagedwhenthe
manholecoverisclosed.
Thereshouldbeadistanceofatleast20cmbetween
thedeviceandthesignalgenerator.Otherwise
thereisariskthatthemagneticeldofthesensor
systemwillbeaffectedbythefasteningmagnets
andthemeasurementresultwillbedistorted.(Fig. 5)

Step 5: Mounting the antenna
Attachtheexternalantennatoametalsurface
usingthemagneticbase(Fig. 6).Asageneralrule,
thelargerthemetalsurface,thebetterthetrans-
mission power.
Inordertoachievegoodtransmissionpower,the
antennashouldbemountedvertically(upright).
Makesurethattheconnectionbetweentheantenna
baseandthemetalsurfaceisclean.
Inthecaseofabove-groundtanks,forexample,
attachtheexternaltransmissionantennadirectly
to the container.
Inthecaseofundergroundtanks,theantenna
shouldbeattachedoutsidethemanholechamber
e.g.attachedtothemanholecoverorsafely
embeddedintothegroundusingtheoptionaldrive-
overantenna.Insidethechamber,thesignalcanbe
signicantlyrestrictedbythemetalsurroundings,
thusreducingthetransmissionrange.

receptionoftheradiosignalispermanentlyguar-
anteed.Duringtherst3minutesafteractivationof
thetransmitter(startphase),thesignalistransmitted
approx.every5seconds,theninnormaloperation
onlyevery20minutes.Usethe“startphase”totest
thereliablesignalreceptionatthemountingposition
ofthereceiverortomakefurtheradjustments.You
cantriggerthe“startphase”asoftenasyoulike
bydisconnectingthetransmitterfromthebattery,
waiting5minutesandactivateitagain. (Fig. 4, page 6)
Mounting: Mountthereceiverwiththeincluded
wallbracketusingsuitablemountingmaterial
(screws/plugsdependingonthesurface).
Warning symbols: TheredLEDnexttothedisplay,
warningtriangleandbatterysymbolwarnwhen
theminimumlllevelisbelow20percent,the
transmitterbatteryisemptyortheradioconnection
isinterrupted(seeinstructions).(Fig. 9)
Note:Furtherinformationcanbefoundinthede-
tailedoperatinginstructionsofthecorresponding
radioreceiver.
Step 6: Putting radio receiver into operation
Assoonasthetransmitterhasbeenactivated
(step3),itstartsmeasuringanddatatransmission.
Thecodedradiosignal(868MHz)canbereceived
byvariousradioreceivers(LCDdisplay,Interface
4-20mA,WiFi,Datalogger).Whendeliveredasa
set,thereceiverisprogrammedtoautomatically
receivethesignalofthesuppliedtransmitter.

WithLCDdisplaythetanklevelcanbeeasilyread
inthelivingareaorofce.
Itisrecommendedthatthereceiverisrstputinto
operationnearthetransmitterfortesting.Insert
theplugofthepowercableintothesocketonthe
bottomsideofthedevice.Thenconnectthepower
supplyunittoasocket(230V).Thedeviceisim-
mediatelyreadyforuse.Whenthesignalofthe
transmitterisreceived,theword“Signal”ashes
inthedisplay(Fig. 8).Assoonasthetransmitter
hasnishedasuccessfulmeasurement,thetank
contentisdisplayedasapercentagevalue.The
levelcanbedisplayedeitherinpercentorliters.

receivingotherradiotransmitters,solvingproblems
andresettingthedevice,pleaserefertotheradio
receivermanual.
