2. Description and purpose
The Mobilizer Norbert is a medically used roduct that su orts nursing staff in the thera y
and mobilisation of atients and is used for ositioning and trans orting atients, as well
as for facilitating the work of nursing staff in hos itals, clinics and care facilities.
The Mobilizer Norbert can be adjusted to a lying and sitting osition. The inde endent
height adjustment can be used in any lying or sitting osition. De ending on the selected
equi ment o tion, the osition settings are made manually with a um lever or electromo-
tively in battery o eration by means of a hand switch.
This model has a three- art, at lying surface which, when adjusted, results in a wide seat,
a high backrest and a leg rest. The leg rest is lowered or raised synchronously with the
inclination of the backrest. A atented length com ensation system, in conjunction with the
integrated seat tilt, minimises the shearing forces on the atient's body that are otherwise
common with couch-seat adjustment. The seat and backrest have comfortable viscoelastic
adding that relieves ressure and hel s revent ressure sores. The osition of the moul-
ded neck cushion in the head area is adjustable.
There are added armrests on both sides of the seat. Both armrests raise automatically
when adjusted to the sitting osition, but can also be swivelled u wards, facilitating a sea-
ted lateral transfer of the atient. To su ort both feet, there is a footrest that can be adjus-
ted to the length of the lower leg.
If it is not needed, it can be stowed behind the adding of the leg rest. Mobilizer Norbert
has four large, swivelling castors that ensure easy manoeuvrability. The central brake unit
can be used to x one directional castor as well as to o erate the arking brakes.
The safe working load is 250 kg.
Any use of the Mobilizer deviating from this ur ose is excluded from ossible liability.

be activated to revent the Mobilizer Ottfried from rolling away unintentionally.
• The o erator must ensure that the erson on the Mobilizer Ottfried is suitably secured
against falling out.
• The o erator must ensure that no one can mani ulate the Mobilizer Ottfried or be injured by
moving arts during adjustment. The atient's arms should be in the atient's la or on the
armrests. The feet are to be laced securely on the footrest or the oor.
• Avoid direct and rolonged skin contact with Mobilizer Ottfried for more than 1 hour by using
a suitable ad.
• The Mobilizer Ottfried and the individual com onents are sometimes subjected to high
stresses over the course of their useful life or in the event of im ro er handling. Any kind of
cracks or scratches can be indications that the com onent in question will suddenly fail,
which can lead to accidents with a risk of injury.
• Rattling noises or wobbling are an indication of defects!

7. Backrest adjustment
By tilting the backrest, Mobilizer Norbert can be adjusted from a
at lying surface to a sitting osition (see Fig. 5). Synchronously
with the inclination of the backrest, the leg rest is also lowered
or raised. By ulling u the release bar, the backrest can be ad-
justed between the reclining and sitting osition.
The Mobilizer Norbert is characterised by a reduction of the
shearing forces that are otherwise common when adjusting the
backrest. De ending on the inclination of the backrest, the seat
cushion is moved longitudinally and adjusted at the front.

6 - Footste down
The tilt of the backrest and seat, as well as the adjustment of
the seat height, is carried out by means of two electric mo-
tors. O eration is via a hand control with three rows of but-
tons (see Fig. 6). The u er row of buttons controls the tilt of
the backrest, the middle row controls the height adjustment
and the lower row controls the height of the footrest. Fig. 7: Hand switch
9. Main switch*
Behind the backrest is the main switch, with
which all drives of the Mobilizer can be switched
off by ressing the switch button. The Mobilizer
can be switched on again by turning the switch
knob clockwise according to the symbols on the
switch knob.

10. Transfer
Patients can be transferred sideways into and out of Mobilizer Norbert while sitting or lying
down. Patients whose mobility allows it are also able to get out forwards or sit in the stan-
ding-u osition. In rinci le, Mobilizer Norbert must be braked every time the atient is
transferred or sits in or gets out of the chair.
10.1 Horizontal transfer
Before transferring the atient lying down, lower the backrest to the at lying osition and
the footrest to the lowest ste . Patients are to be laced on the Mobilizer Norbert in such a
way that their greater trochanter (large rolling hill) is ositioned above the rear end of the
seat cushion. In this osition, the u er art of the atient's head must not rotrude above
the head cushion. Moving the atient towards the head end or foot end is not ermitted (see
Fig. 9 and Fig. 10). The backrest must be raised to achieve a semi-sitting osition and the
footrest adjusted to the atient's lower leg length according to cha ter 13.
ATTENTION!
In the lying osition, the atient's body weight must be evenly distributed. The
atient's centre of gravity must be on the seat cushion (a lies es ecially to
am utees). Lifting the legs can cause the Mobilizer to ti over.
!
10.2 Sitting transfer
Alternatively, the armrests can be swivelled u wards to allow comfortable lateral transfers
in sitting ositions. If atients are transferred to Mobilizer Norbert in a sitting osition, they
should only be ositioned on the seat in such a way that the lower art of the back rests
against the backrest and the atient can assume an u right sitting osition.
To get out forward, the seat of Mobilizer Norbert is tilted forward as far as it will go and the
footrest is stowed under the calf ad. In this osition, an attendant can hel the atient out
of Mobilizer Norbert with minimal effort while observing kinaesthetic rinci les.

11. Armrests
The armrests rovide su ort for the atient without limiting
the seat width. They lower automatically to the level of the seat
cushion when adjusted to the couch, facilitating the rone la-
teral transfer of atients. For seated transfer or lateral sitting, it
is ossible to swivel the armrests u wards individually (see
Fig. 11).
Fig. 12: Locking the arm-
rest in place
Locking the armrests
According to the sco e of equi ment, the armrests can be lo-
cked in any osition by means of a locking lever (Fig. 12).
12. Footstep
The atient's feet must be ositioned centrally arallel on the
foot ste (see g. 10). The atient's feet must not rotrude
beyond the footrest. The symmetrical arrangement of the feet
on the foot ste ensures o timal function and revents the
risk of ti ing over due to uneven load distribution. For a ly-
ing transfer or if the foot ste is not needed, it can be folded
under the calf ad. To do this, lift the calf ad, fold in the fully
extended foot ste and then ut the calf ad down again.

feet on the foot step
Fig. 14: Electric footrest
adjustment
12.1 with electric footrest adjustment
The footrest can be continuously adjusted to the length of the
atient's lower leg. To do this, ress the buttons on both
sides underneath the seat cushion (see Fig. 11) to raise or
lower the footrest.

12.2 with manual footrest adjustment
The footrest can be adjusted to the atient's lower leg length in three ste s. O erate the
release lever below the calf ad (see g. 12 and 13) to raise or lower the footrest. The re-
lease lever audibly engages in one of the three ositions.
Fig. 15: Folding in the footstep Fig. 16: Release le er
ATTENTION!
The foot ste may only be folded in in the extended osition to avoid damage
to the calf ad.
!
Fig. 14: Brake le er
13. Driving and braking
With the foot control lever at the rear of the
frame, both the directional and the total locking
of the castors are o erated centrally. For driving
straight ahead, the directional castor at the front
right can be locked by lifting the central brake
lever.
Pushing down the central brake lever (Fig. 15)
locks the rear brake rollers and the directional
roller (all-wheel brake). The central, horizontal
osition of the central brake lever causes free-
wheeling and free ivoting of all wheels.
ATTENTION!
To revent unintentional rolling away, the arked Mobilizer Norbert must al-
ways be braked.
