2. Description and purpose
The Mobilizer Ottfried is a universal thera y device for erforming atient mobilisation from
a lying to a sitting osition.
The sitting/lying surface is mounted on a com act chassis with four swivelling castors and
is easy to manoeuvre. Both directional and total locking of the wheels can be controlled
centrally by foot control. There are added armrests on both sides which raise and lower
synchronously with the backrest. In addition, the armrests can be swivelled in any osition
to ensure barrier-free lateral transfer of the atient in any lying or sitting osition.
Every safe and sensible osition between head-down, horizontal, sitting can be adjusted by
means of a hand switch or control buttons on the roduct, as can the height adjustment.
The height-adjustable footrest ensures adjustment to the atient's height.
When the atient is lying on his back, a movement sequence from lying to any, also inclined,
sitting osition is ossible. The leg su ort moves synchronously with the inclination of the
backrest. The built-in length com ensation reduces shearing forces when adjusting the
couch to the seat. If required, the atient can be stabilised in the knee and hi joint area,
the torso and the head by means of safety belts.
The adding in the seat and back area has a ressure-relieving effect due to a viscoelastic
com onent in the adding foam and contributes to decubitus ro hylaxis. The moulded
neck cushion in the head area is adjustable in height and rovides lateral su ort for the
head. All u holstery covers are removable, wi eable and anti-microbial.

6. Height adjustment
The Mobilizer Ottfried is equi ed with a
height adjustment that works inde endently of
the lying or sitting osition. It is o erated by
means of a hand switch (see Fig. 4).
Fig. 4: Height ad ustment
7. Backrest adjustment
By tilting the backrest, Mobilizer Ottfried can be adjusted
from a at lying surface to a sitting osition. The leg rest
is lowered or raised synchronously with the inclination of
the backrest.
The Mobilizer Ottfried is characterised by a reduction of
the shearing forces that are otherwise common when ad-
justing the backrest. De ending on the inclination of the
backrest, the seat cushion is shifted longitudinally and
adjusted (tilted) at the front. This gives the atient a sta-
ble sitting osition without shifting during sitting u .
Fig. 5: Backrest ad ustment
8. Tilt adjustment
The Mobilizer Ottfried has a seat tilt adjustment. This can
be adjusted inde endently of the seat height and back-
rest angle. The seat and reclining surface can be tilted u
to 9° forwards and 10° backwards com ared to the nor-
mal osition. This makes it ossible to stand u with the
seat surface slightly tilted forwards and the backrest er-
endicular to the oor as well as to lie down with the
head in a straight osition. For comfortable adjustment of
the normal osition, a sto osition is inserted which
sto s the adjustment when the hand control button is
ressed when the normal osition is reached.

9. Hand control
The tilt of the backrest and seat, the adjustment of the
seat height, as well as the o eration of the lower leg
length (height of the foot ste ) is carried out by means of
two electric motors. The o eration is done via a hand
control with four rows of buttons (see g. 7).

11. Transfer
Patients can be transferred sideways into and out of the Mobilizer Ottfried while sitting or
lying down. Patients whose mobility allows it are also able to get out forwards or sit in the
standing-u osition. In rinci le, the Mobilizer Ottfried must be braked every time the a-
tient is transferred or sits in or gets out of the chair.
11.1 Horizontal transfer
Before transferring the atient lying down, lower the backrest to the at lying osition and
the footrest to the lowest ste . Patients are to be laced on the Mobilizer Ottfried in such a
way that their greater trochanter (large rolling hill) is ositioned above the rear end of the
seat cushion. In this osition, the to of the atient's head must not rotrude above the
head cushion. Moving the atient towards the head end or foot end is not ermitted (see
Fig. 9 and Fig. 10). The backrest must be raised to achieve a semi-sitting osition and the
footrest adjusted to the atient's lower leg length according to cha ter 13.
ATTENTION!
In the lying osition, the atient's body weight must be evenly distributed. The
atient's centre of gravity must be on the seat cushion (a lies es ecially to
am utees). Lifting the legs can cause the Mobilizer to ti over.
!
11.2 Sitting transfer
Alternatively, the armrests can be swivelled u wards to allow comfortable lateral transfers
in sitting ositions. If atients are transferred to Mobilizer Ottfried in a sitting osition, they
should only be ositioned on the seat in such a way that the lower art of the back rests
against the backrest and the atient can assume an u right sitting osition.
To get out forward, the seat of Mobilizer Ottfried is tilted forward as far as it will go and the
footrest is stowed under the calf ad. In this osition, an attendant can hel the atient out
of Mobilizer Ottfried with minimal effort while observing kinaesthetic rinci les.

12. Armrests
The armrests rovide su ort for the atient
without limiting the seat width. They lower
automatically to the level of the seat cushion
when adjusted to the couch, facilitating the
rone lateral transfer of atients. For seated
transfer or lateral sitting, it is ossible to swi-
vel the armrests u wards individually (see
Fig. 11).
Locking the armrests
According to the sco e of equi ment, the
armrests can be locked in any osition by
means of a locking lever (Fig. 12).
13. Footstep
The osition of the footrest can be adjusted to
the length of the lower leg. The release levers
on either side of the calf ad release the ad-
justment. When the release levers are res-
sed, the footrest is brought into the desired
osition (see Fig. 13). Releasing the release
levers then gradually locks the footrest in
lace. For a lying transfer or if the foot ste is
not needed, it can be folded under the calf
ad. To do this, lift the calf ad, fold in the fully
extended foot ste and then ut the calf ad
back down.

With the foot control lever at the rear of the
frame, both the directional and the total locking
of the castors are o erated centrally. For driving
straight ahead, the directional castor at the front
right can be locked by lifting the central brake
lever.
Pushing down the central brake lever (Fig. 15)
locks the rear brake rollers and the directional
roller (all-wheel brake). The central, horizontal
osition of the central brake lever causes free-
wheeling and free ivoting of all wheels.
ATTENTION!
To revent unintentional rolling away, the arked Mobilizer Ottfried must al-
ways be braked.

should be moved to a vertical osition and the arking brake a lied. To release the battery,
ull it to the left with a slight jerk and then lift it off the backrest (see Fig. 16). To insert the
charged battery, roceed in reverse order. To charge the battery, insert it into the charging
station. The battery is inserted into the charging station in the same way as on the battery
holder on the Mobilizer Ottfried (see Fig. 17). Please also observe the general safety instruc-
tions (cha ter 5). Preferably, the charging station should be mounted vertically on a wall
(see Fig. 18) so that the battery is inserted into the charging station from above for charging.
