User Manual for Smart Battery Charger
1. Main Functions
★This battery charger is designed specifically for intelligent batteries of laptop computers,
medical devices and power tools.
★The charger can automatically recognize the battery model and select the charging pattern,
thus no pre-settings are required.
★There are 4 charging ports on each charger, which can charge 4 laptop batteries of different
models simultaneously.
★The charger can activate and charge the battery automatically even for low voltage batteries
stored over time.
★The charger is able to conduct simple charge/discharge test to check the battery functions.
★The LED display on the charger indicates the current battery capacity and it will constantly
change through the charging process.
★Cable connectors applied to different battery models can be provided to users when
required.
★Advanced functions can be operated through the supporting computer software. Gas Gauge
Data can be retrieved from the battery for advanced analytical purposes and uality/function
assessment.

2.Hardware Structure
1. 通道端口说明:
2. The Charger port and charger Cable.
The Testing Port (Picture 3)
1. “P+” connects to the battery
terminal positive.
2. “C” connects to the clock wire SMC.
3. “D” connects to the data wire SMD.
4. “P- connects to the battery terminal
negative.
Port LED Display and Buttons (see picture 1)
1. The Activation Button ( Red LED Display)
The button is designed to activate low voltage pack which has lost the ability to
discharge due to over-time storage. When the charger is reading information
from the battery, the LED display should be flashing.
2. Battery capacity (Green LED display)
This LED display indicates the current capacity of the battery pack, each LED
display cells indicates 20% of the total capacity.
3. The Battery Charger Port:
The battery charger port connects to the battery through a cable. When the
battery is charging the rectangle LED display is red.

3.Software installment and operation
1.1 Install the software: The software can be used by directly copy to the hard disk, there’s
no need for installment.
1.2 Copy the file “Smart Charger” from CD to the hard disk. (copy to hard disk other than
System Disk C is highly recommended).
1.3 Create desktop shortcut for “Smart Charger.exe” under file “Smart Charger”.
1.4 Double click “Smart Charger.exe”on desk top, the following interface will appear if the
Charger-PC connection is successful. Right click anywhere in the interface and the
function windows will appear.
Basic Manu Functions:
1. Battery Info: Assess basic information of the battery pack.
2. Smart Charge: Activate the channel and start charging the battery. (Restart charging
without plugging out the battery)
3. Stop Charge: Terminate the charging channel.
4. Macro: Upload special data to battery pack ( for more advanced users).
5. Charge Control: Pre-set the input capacity (RSOC %) and maximum charging voltage.
(As shown in the example above, the maximum capacity is RSOC 50%, maximum
voltage 11.1V)
6. Discharge Test: Test the charge/discharge function.
CHG: Charging.
17% : Current capacity.
T: Temperature V: Battery Voltage
I: Charging Current
t: Time left to complete charging.
W: C: Current Battery Capacity

F&Q
Question 1:
Some battery models can’t either be recognized or charged by the battery charger, why?
Answer: Such battery models are not intelligent battery models. There is no G/G IC in the
battery pack, only simple protection circuit and memory chip, e.g. LENOVO FIC30. The
intelligent battery charger cannot recognize or charge such batteries.
Question 2:
Some battery models can be recognized by the charger, but cannot be charged. (the
rectangle LED display is off).
Answer: Such models require charging permission. The permission was not granted to
Repower by the manufacturer,e.g. the COMPAQ series, thus the model cannot be charged.
Question 2.2:
For batteries of same model, some of them can not be charged though the battery info can be
assessed.
Answer: There might be three different causes:
1. If run the charge/discharge test right now, it shows Charge NG, Discharge NG (NG=No
good). The charging function is prohibited and the battery fuse has been blown. If such
situation occurs, the battery should be returned to the manufacturer.
2. If it shows Discharge OK, Charge NG, it means the battery has reached a capacity level
that further charging is prohibited.
3. If Charge Voltage and Charge Current both equal zero, then the charging function is
prohibited due to battery malfunction.
3. How to activate stored-over-time low voltage batteries?
Answer: If a battery is stored for too long, say 6-24 months, the battery will stay in a sleeping
or shut-down state during anytime through the storage period. For quality and security
purposes, the laptop computer would cease to charge or discharge the battery.
First, connect the battery and the charger accurately (if the battery doesn’t equipped with
mistake-proof design, please connect in reference to a well-functioned battery. Wrong
connection will cause damaging results), then press the “Active” button, LED display on the
charging port will be turned on.
If the battery is activated successfully, the rectangle LED display on the port will be shut
down temporarily for 1-2 seconds, then start lighting again. The software interface will display
basic information of the battery and a smaller preparatory charging current. After the
preparatory phase, the charger will start the normal charging process automatically.
If the battery has no response in activation process for over 20 minutes, the battery has
already damaged and the damage is irreversible.
4.When running the “Discharge Test”, why the result could be different (OK or NG)for a same
battery?
Answer: “Discharge test” is to test whether the charge and discharge process of a battery is
functioning, it also test whether the current accuracy matches the benchmark technical
standard. Sometimes the malfunction of Discharge Test is due to the communication time lag
instead of battery malfunction. In this case, the battery should be retested and judged on the
basis of a more frequent result.
