F&Q
Question 1:
Some battery models can’t either be recognized or charged by the battery charger, why?
Answer: Such battery models are not intelligent battery models. There is no G/G IC in the
battery pack, only simple protection circuit and memory chip, e.g. LENOVO FIC30. The
intelligent battery charger cannot recognize or charge such batteries.
Question 2:
Some battery models can be recognized by the charger, but cannot be charged. (the
rectangle LED display is off).
Answer: Such models require charging permission. The permission was not granted to
Repower by the manufacturer,e.g. the COMPAQ series, thus the model cannot be charged.
Question 2.2:
For batteries of same model, some of them can not be charged though the battery info can be
assessed.
Answer: There might be three different causes:
1. If run the charge/discharge test right now, it shows Charge NG, Discharge NG (NG=No
good). The charging function is prohibited and the battery fuse has been blown. If such
situation occurs, the battery should be returned to the manufacturer.
2. If it shows Discharge OK, Charge NG, it means the battery has reached a capacity level
that further charging is prohibited.
3. If Charge Voltage and Charge Current both equal zero, then the charging function is
prohibited due to battery malfunction.
3. How to activate stored-over-time low voltage batteries?
Answer: If a battery is stored for too long, say 6-24 months, the battery will stay in a sleeping
or shut-down state during anytime through the storage period. For quality and security
purposes, the laptop computer would cease to charge or discharge the battery.
First, connect the battery and the charger accurately (if the battery doesn’t equipped with
mistake-proof design, please connect in reference to a well-functioned battery. Wrong
connection will cause damaging results), then press the “Active” button, LED display on the
charging port will be turned on.
If the battery is activated successfully, the rectangle LED display on the port will be shut
down temporarily for 1-2 seconds, then start lighting again. The software interface will display
basic information of the battery and a smaller preparatory charging current. After the
preparatory phase, the charger will start the normal charging process automatically.
If the battery has no response in activation process for over 20 minutes, the battery has
already damaged and the damage is irreversible.
4.When running the “Discharge Test”, why the result could be different (OK or NG)for a same
battery?
Answer: “Discharge test” is to test whether the charge and discharge process of a battery is
functioning, it also test whether the current accuracy matches the benchmark technical
standard. Sometimes the malfunction of Discharge Test is due to the communication time lag
instead of battery malfunction. In this case, the battery should be retested and judged on the
basis of a more frequent result.
