1.3.QUICK START
This section contains important information regarding handling, inspection, setup and
storage of the RGK wheelchair.
1.3.1.UNPACKING
If unpacking is required, follow the points below;
- Check for any obvious damage to the package. If damage is evident, notify your dealer
before opening fully.
- Remove paperwork and open package carefully.
- Carefully remove all components to a safe place.
NOTE: Unless the RGK Wheelchair is to be assembled immediately, retain cartons and
packing materials for use in storing the chair until assembly is required.
1.3.2.INSPECTION
Examine exterior of the RGK Wheelchair for dents, scratches or other forms of damage.
Inspect all components. If damage is evident, notify your RGK dealer immediately.
1.3.3.QUICK START
To prepare the wheelchair ready for use, follow the points below;
- Insert quick release axle pin into wheel, from the hand rim side, and insert into camber
bar, ensuring axle pin has located and the release button is fully extended.
- If axle pin does not engage, see PROCEDURE 4.4.
- Repeat for the opposite wheel.
WARNING! Quick release axle pin must be securely engaged prior to use. Failure to
secure axle pin engagement could result in death, personal injury or property damage.
WARNING! Please read the remaining parts of this user manual before attempting to
operate the wheelchair.
1.3.4.HANDLING
The RGK wheelchair should be wheeled around where possible. When required to lift
the RGK wheelchair, use the brace bar at the back of the frame and the leg rail as lifting
points.
WARNING! DO NOT lift the wheelchair by loose or detachable parts, which specifically
includes the upholstery, seat rail, or the wheels. Lifting in these points could result in
personal injury or property damage.
1.3.5.STORAGE
Store the repackaged RGK Wheelchair in a secure and dry area. Wheels should be
taken off and packaged separately to the frame of the wheelchair.

2. SAFETY
Wheelchair safety requires the close attention of the wheelchair user as well as the assistant.
This manual describes the most common procedures and techniques involved in the safe
operation of the wheelchair. It is important to practice and master these safe techniques until you
are comfortable operating the product. Use this information only as a "basic" guide.
2.1. WEIGHT LIMITATION
To ensure the safety of the user and others, the RGK ‘Club Sport A’ has a weight limitation of
120kg. This weight limit is confirmed next to the serial number and CE marking on the
underside of the frame work.
2.2. WEIGHT TRAINING
RGK DOES NOT recommend the use of its wheelchairs as a weight training apparatus.
RGK products have NOT been designed or tested as a seat for any kind of weight training.
If occupant uses said wheelchair as a weight training apparatus, RGK shall NOT be liable for
bodily injury and the warranty will be voided immediately.
2.3. OPERATION ENVIROMENT
Sports wheelchairs must ONLY be used on smooth, dry and flat surfaces dedicated to
wheelchair sports.
WARNING! Use on stairways, escalators, curbs, steps or any other unsuitable surface could
result in death, personal injury or property damage.
WARNING! Due to the nature of the design, RGK sports wheelchairs are NOT suitable for
wheelchair assistants to push.
2.4.TRANSFERRING
Before attempting to transfer in or out of the wheelchair, every precaution should be taken to
reduce the distance between chairs. Turn both castors toward the object you are
transferring onto. RGK advise having an assistant present during transfer.
TIP: When transferring, position yourself as far back as possible in the seat. This will
prevent damage to the upholstery and the possibility of the chair tipping forward.
WARNING! DO NOT use the footplate as a platform when getting in or out of the wheelchair.
2.5. STABILITY AND BALANCE
To ensure stability and correct operation of your wheelchair, you must at all times maintain
balance. Many activities require the wheelchair owner to reach, bend and transfer in and out
of the wheelchair. These movements will cause a change to the normal balance, centre of
gravity, and weight distribution of the wheelchair. To determine and establish your particular
safety limits, RGK recommend practice bending, reaching and transferring activities in
several combinations in the presence of a qualified health professional BEFORE attempting
active use of the wheelchair.
TIP: Virtually all activities which involve movement in the chair have an effect on the centre
of gravity. RGK recommends using seat restraints for additional safety while involved in
activities that shift your weight.
WARNING! Know your limits. Excessive reaching or leaning away from the centre of gravity
could result in the wheelchair tipping over, which could lead to personal injury or property
damage.

Issue No: SQCA1 2010
7
WARNING! The position of the footrest, camber bar, rear seat height, anti-tipper and the
tension of the upholstery, are directly related to the chairs stability. Any change to one or
any combination of the four may cause the chair to decrease in stability. Use EXTREME
caution when using a new seating position for the first time.
WARNING! DO NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to move forward in the seat or pick
them up from the floor by reaching down between your knees.
2.6.WHEELCHAIR TIE-DOWN AND SEAT RESTRAINTS
RGK recommends that wheelchair users are NOT to be transported in vehicles of any kind
while seated in wheelchairs. RGK recommend that users of wheelchairs should be
transferred into appropriate seating in vehicles for transportation and use be made of the
original restraints made available in the vehicle. RGK cannot and does not recommend any
wheelchair transportation systems.
WARNING! It is the obligation of the dealer, therapist or other health care professional to
determine if a seating restraint is required, and that it is used correctly, to ensure the safety
of the user and others. Failure to use suitable restraints or procedures could result in
personal injury or property damage.
WARNING! ALWAYS wear your seat restraint, if recommended. Failure to use the
recommended seat restraint could result in personal injury or property damage.
2.7. FEET POSITION
Always strap your feet into position using the provided strap. The front of either foot should
not protrude past the back edge of the front drop bar tube. This protects the user from
personal injury and ensures the correct size chair is being used by the user.
WARNING! If the users’ feet do not fit behind the back of the drop bar, the user requires a
larger chair. Use in this condition may result in personal injury.
2.8. TYRE PRESSURE
DO NOT use your wheelchair unless it has the proper tyre pressure, which is measured in
pounds per square inch (psi) or kilo Pascals (kPa). Tyre pressure can be found on the wall
of the tyre.
WARNING! DO NOT over inflate the tyres. Failure to follow these suggestions may cause
the tyre to explode and cause bodily harm.

3. MAINTENANCE
RGK recommend taking your wheelchair to a qualified dealer for a thorough inspection and
servicing every 6 months. Regular cleaning will reveal loose or worn parts and enhance the
smooth operation or your wheelchair.
To operate correctly and safely, your wheelchair must be cared for just like any other vehicle.
Routine maintenance will extend the life and efficiency of your wheelchair. Initial adjustments
should be made to suit your personal body structure and preference.
3.1.SAFETY INSPECTION CHECKLIST
RGK recommends inspecting the wheelchair using the following table. If a problem is found,
it should be taken to an authorised RGK dealer and rectified before next use.
