Plockmatic and GBC Punch are supported with this combination (Engine,
System/Copy), Fiery ver 1.2 and SR5030/5040 D5125620D(01.040:01)
Added Functions/Modified Specifications:
- The following functions are invalidated when the system includes the
Plockmatic:
Shift tray full detection
Shift tray elevation
Shift tray jogger motion
- If the Plockmatic does not acknowledge completion of a feed out for 2
seconds, jam in the Plockmatic is sent to the mainframe.
- Since manual stapling is not supported by Plockmatic (BK5030)
specification has been modified to suspend printing by issuing "jam"
status during manual stapling operation.
Symptoms Corrected:
- If the paper entrance sensor of the Columbia momentarily detects
paper during the initial sensor check, the Columbia sends to the
mainframe a "wait" signal one time but not a "jam" signal and
remains in waiting status.
The mainframe cannot detect the anomaly and attempts to print as
soon as completing the warm-up process. However, the Columbia
is in a "wait" status, and therefore, printing is suspended although
the control panel displays "printing".
Specifications have been modified to issue a "jam" status and
suspend printing if the paper entrance sensor of the Columbia
detects paper even if momentarily during the initial check process.

Symptom
If a sufficient gap [A] is not secured between the End Fence [B] and the Exit Roller [C], the
tip of the End Fence [B] could abrade the Exit Roller [C] in the worst case.
NOTE:
This symptom occurs ONLY on the Finisher SR5030 and will not occur on the Booklet
Finisher SR5040.
Cause
A sufficient gap is not secured between the exit roller [C] and the tip of the end fence [B]
due to the inaccurate dimensions of the End Fence.

1. On your next service visit, measure the gap between the End Fence and the Exit Rollers
([C] and [D]).

2. If the measurements of the 2 locations [C] and [D] are 2.5 mm (approximately 0.1 inch)
or smaller, replace the End Fence and the Exit Rollers with the countermeasure parts
as a set.
NOTE: Countermeasure parts are supplied as P/N D0749902 (End Fence Kit).
P/N D0749902 (End Fence Kit) consists of the above two parts.
NOTE: P/N D0749902 is supplied as a temporary countermeasure part.

Replacement Procedure
NOTE:
1. Time required for replacement is approximately 60 minutes.
2. In the following procedure, "FSM" refers to the Field Service Manual for the "Booklet
Finisher SR5040 / Finisher SR5030".
[Common Procedure for Exit Roller and End Fence replacement]
1. Remove the covers [A] (hooks)
2. Remove the Rear Upper Cover [B] (5 screws)
NOTE: The Rear Upper Cover must be removed before removing the rear lower cover.
(See also FSM page 12.)
3. Remove the Rear Lower Cover [A] (See also FSM page 13.)
This screw is hard to spot.

4. Remove the Jogger Unit Cover [A] (2 screws)
5. Remove the Jogger Unit [A] (2 screws, 2 harness clamps, 1 connector). (See also FSM

6. Open the front door and remove the clip [A].
7. Lift the front door [B] from its bottom post.
8. Remove the front door [B]. (See also FSM page 16).

9. Remove the cover [A] (2 screws).

11. Remove the exit guide plate [A] (4 screws).
12. Slide out the timing belt [A] from the pulley [B]. Then remove the pulley [B] (1 E-ring).

[Procedure for End Fence replacement]
Before you begin, remove the following parts according to the procedures in the FSM.
zShift Tray (See FSM page 21).
zShift Tray Base (See FSM pages 29 through 31.)
1. Remove the end fence stay assembly [A] (6 screws, 2 springs, 3 connectors).
2. Remove the drive motor assembly [A] (4 screws).

3. Remove the bracket [A] from the end fence stay [B] (4 screws).
4. Slide the end fence stay [A] as indicated by the arrow.
5. Pull up the end fence stay [A] half-way as indicated by the arrow.

Specification of Booklet Cover Sheet
Please add the following information to your booklet finisher service manual:
One sheet of 163gsm paper can be used as a cover for a booklet. This cover is
counted as 3 sheets of signature for the booklet.

Booklets can be created as follows:
zOne sheet of 163gsm paper for cover and 17 sheets of 80gsm paper for the signature
In this case, the 163gsm cover is counted as 3 sheets of 80gsm paper.
zOne sheet of 163gsm paper for cover and 12 sheets of 90gsm paper for the signature
In this case, the 163gsm cover is counted as 3 sheets of 90gsm paper.
Note
Although the software does not strictly limit the behavior of the booklet finisher within its
specifications, quality of the booklets created beyond specifications will not be guaranteed.
Customers shall be responsible for creation of such booklets.

CAUSE
The front and rear supporting plates, which are bent and welded to the base plate, were
bent in incorrect dimensions due to a fault in the manufacturing process. This causes the
washer installed on the side plate to interfere with the side plate rail, stoppong the shift tray
from descending.
Occurrence Rate
No data available at RCL. However, the occurrence rate is expected to be low based on
the reports in Japan in which 4 units were found with the stated problem among 100
affected units.
