Rimage Producer Family™ Align a Recorder
Use this procedure to align a recorder in a Autostar II™, Protégé II, Amigo II™, AutoPrinter II™, Producer
7100™, Producer 8100™, Producer 7100N™, Producer 8100N™.
The product warranty may become void if equipment or parts are tampered with, misused, neglected, or modified in
any respect without the written consent of Rimage.
The following procedures describe how to correct the most common types of misalignments.
-Important! Only adjust the alignment if the system is having trouble picking and releasing discs.
Before you begin
#Required tools: Torx T10 screwdriver
Align a recorder
1. Power on the autoloader.
2. Open the front door. The lift arm is at the top of the
autoloader.
Note: The lift arm color may be white or black.
3. While pressing the disc release button, press a disc
onto the gripper.
4. Press the recorder button to open the recorder tray.
5. Slowly lower the lift arm until the disc makes slight
contact with the recorder tray. The disc should be
centered in the recorder tray.
#Tip: On a Producer III or Producer IIIN, to look
down on the lift arm, open the top access cover.
6. Raise the lift arm and disc out of the way of the
recorder tray.
7. Press the recorder button to close the recorder tray.

8. If necessary, to align the drives, loosen the Torx
T10 recorder screws or the thumb screws on
each side of the recorder so that you can rotate
the adjustment screws.
9. Adjust the Torx T10 alignment screws. Refer to
the sections below for sample adjustment
procedures.
•Front to back alignment, see page 3.
•Diagonal alignment, see page 4.
•Side to side alignment, see page 5.

10. Repeat the alignment procedures until the disc is centered on the recorder tray.
11. Press the recorder button to close the recorder tray.
12. Press the disc release button to release the disc from the gripper. The autoloader is ready for use.

Front to back alignment
In this sample, the recorder tray is too far forward in relation to the disc and the gripper.
Note: If the recorder tray is too far back, perform the opposite adjustments.
The figure shows a front to back misalignment. The disc
is touching the tray at C, and there is a gap at D.
1. Turn the Torx T10 adjustment screws on
each side of the recorder clockwise so that the
recorder can move in.
Note: Turn the adjustment screws ½ turn
at a time.
2. Tighten the Torx T10 recorder screws or the
thumb screws. The recorder moves towards
the rear of the unit and rests on the adjustment
screws.
3. Check the alignment.
•If the disc is centered on the tray, the
recorder is aligned.
•If the disc is misaligned, check one of the
following:
Is the misalignment still front to back?
If so, repeat the previous steps.
Is the misalignment diagonal? If so, go
to Diagonal alignment on page 4.
Is the misalignment side to side? If so,
go to Side to side alignment on page

Diagonal alignment
In this sample, the recorder tray is too far to the right and too far back in relation to the disc and the
gripper.
Note: If the recorder tray is too far to the left and too far out, perform the adjustments on the opposite
sides.
1. Turn the Torx T10 adjustment screw on the
right counterclockwise. The right side of the
recorder moves out. This adjustment should
correct the gaps at B and C.
Note: Turn the adjustment screws ½ turn
at a time.
2. Tighten the Torx T10 recorder screws or the
thumb screws.
3. Check the alignment.
•If the disc is centered on the tray, the
recorder is aligned.
•If the disc is misaligned, check one of the
following:
Is the misalignment still diagonal? If so,
repeat the previous steps.
Is the misalignment front to back? If so,
go to Front to back alignment on
page 3.
Is the misalignment side to side? If so,
go to Side to side alignment on page
5.
The figure shows a diagonal misalignment. The disc is
touching the tray at A, and there is a gap at B.

Side to side alignment
In this sample, The recorder tray is too far to the right in relation to the disc and the gripper.
Note: If the recorder tray is too far to the left, perform the adjustments on the opposite sides.
The figure shows a side to side misalignment. The left
side of the disc is touching the tray and the gaps at Eand
Fare larger than the gaps at Cand D.
1. Turn the Torx T10 adjustment screw
counterclockwise on the right side. The right
side of the recorder moves out.
Note: Turn the adjustment screws ½ turn
at a time.
2. Turn the Torx T10 adjustment screw
clockwise on the left.
3. Tighten the Torx T10 recorder screws or the
thumb screws. These adjustments move the
recorder to the left.
4. Check the alignment.
•If the disc is centered on the tray, the
recorder is aligned.
•If the disc is misaligned, check one of the
following:
Is the misalignment still side to side? If
so, repeat the previous steps.
Is the misalignment front to back? If
so, go to Front to back alignment on
page 3.
Is the misalignment diagonal? If so, go
to Diagonal alignment on page 4.
