Replace the Ink Ribbon Base Plate in an Everest II Printer
Use this procedure to replace the ink ribbon base plate in an Everest II™.
Rimage approved parts must be used for this process. The product warranty may become void if parts not approved by Rimage are
used; equipment or parts are tampered with, misused, neglected, or modified in any respect without the written consent of Rimage.
Notes:
•Your system may not look exactly like the system pictured.
•The term “Everest” is used throughout this document to refer to the Everest II only.
#Required tools:
Before you begin
1. Stop or pause all jobs. •Long-shaft Phillips #2 screwdriver
2. If the printer is attached to an autoloader, power off the •Small flathead screwdriver
autoloader.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet. •Needle-nose pliers
Remove the Ink Ribbon Base Plate
1. Disconnect all cables from the printer.
nCaution! Some cables in this system are latched.
Equipment damage may occur if cables are not
disconnected appropriately.
•Printer cable (if on an autoloader)
•USB cable
•Power cord
2. If the printer is on an autoloader, remove it from the
autoloader.
nCaution! Lift the printer with care. It is very heavy.

3. Access the ink ribbon base plate.
a. Press the two cover latches to release the ribbon
access cover.
b. Lower the ribbon access cover.

c. Open latch 1 as shown.
d. Remove the print ribbon carrier.
4. Manually slide the printer tray all the way out of the printer.
a. Open the printer tray door.
Tip: Use a small flathead screwdriver to open the
door.
b. Grasp the front of the printer tray with a needle-
nose pliers and firmly pull out the tray.
5. Remove the ink ribbon base plate.
a. Remove the Phillips screws (Qty. 2) at the front of the
ink ribbon base plate.
b. Remove the Phillips screw at the back of the ink ribbon
base plate using a long-shaft Phillips screwdriver.

6. Lift the ink ribbon base plate up to unlatch it.
7. Keeping the plate at an angle, carefully remove the ink
ribbon base plate from the printer.
nCaution! Do not scratch the platen roller.
Install the Ink Ribbon Base Plate
1. While holding the replacement ink ribbon base plate at a
slight angle, carefully position the ink ribbon base plate in the
printer.
nCaution! Do not scratch the platen roller.
-Important! The lip on the ink ribbon base plate must be
positioned as shown on the printer frame.

2. Install the Phillips screws (Qty. 3) to secure the ink ribbon
base plate.
Tip: One of the screws fits into the tab at the back of the
ink ribbon base plate, inside the printer.
Prepare the Printer for Use
1. Insert the print ribbon carrier.
2. Close latch 1.
3. If necessary, place the printer onto the autoloader.
nCaution! Lift the printer with care. It is very heavy.
4. Connect the cables to the rear of the printer.

•Printer cable (if on an autoloader)
•Power cord
The printer is ready for use.
