Basic Meter Instructions
Coding the Glucotrend
®

•Remove the calibration coding chip from the test strip pack
•The coding chip slot is level with the bottom of the display window.
•Turn the chip so that the flat side with the code number inscribed
on it, is facing upwards.
•Carefully insert the coding chip in the slot and press it in as far as it
will go.
•If the monitor is off, switch it on.
•The bottom line of the display will show the time and date and a
three digit code will be shown in the centre of the display. To the
left of the screen, a test strip symbol and CODE will be flashing. A
red dot flashes in the test-strip guide.
•Make sure that code on the monitor is the same as the code
number on the pack of test strips.
Performing a test
•Ensure you have set the time and date on your Meter before
testing. Please refer to "Entering Settings" in the User's Guide.
•Turn the meter on by pressing centre button
•To check that all display elements are correct, wait for all three
digits 888 to completely appear on the screen
•Check that the code on the screen matches the code number
printed on the test strip vial. Remember to change the code
calibration chip every time you open a new vial of test strips.
•Remove test strip from the vial. Replace vial cap.
•Insert the strip in the test slot in the direction shown by arrows until
it clicks into place.
•The 3 digit code number will disappear.
•After approximately one second, a small blood drop symbol flashes
on display indicating readiness to apply blood to test strip.
•After just a few seconds, you will hear a beep tone and a rotating
box will indicate that the reading is in progress. Result will show in
15 seconds.
•Results will be saved automatically, if time and date are set
correctly.

•If your GLUCOTREND 2 is on, switch it off.
•Gently wipe across test strip guide using a damp non-linting cotton
cloth to remove any traces of blood. Then using your thumb to lift it
gently along its bottom edge, remove the test strip guide carefully.
•Clean the removed test strip guide with cold water and allow it to
dry completely.
•Gently clean the exposed measuring window with a non-linting
cotton cloth or cotton bud.
•Check carefully that test strip guide is completely dry, then re-
insert.
•After cleaning, check the function of your meter using
GLUCOTREND Plus Control G.
Changing the batteries
•Switch your GLUCOTREND 2 meter OFF.
•Gently press the battery compartment cover upwards with a thumb
to open it, and then fold the cover on its hinges towards you. Do
not try to remove battery cover completely.
•You can now see the twin battery holders. Insert one battery into
each holder, with + upwards.
•Replace the battery compartment lid back over the batteries and
press gently inwards to close it again.
•Press the ON key to check that the batteries are inserted properly.
