Product Description
The Automatic Reversing kit provides automatic reverse-direction capability for single-phase, non-regenerative
FlexPak™ Plus and MinPak™ Plus DC drives. The Automatic Reversing kit allows the drive to sequence off,
and then immediately sequence on again, providing a fast, automatic change of direction. This response can
be generated by either an external switching signal or by the manual Forward/Reverse switch on the operator’s
control station.
Important: The Automatic Reversing kit cannot be used with the Dynamic Braking kit.
To use the Automatic Reversing kit with:
•1/4 to 1-1/2 HP MinPak Plus drives: An Auxiliary Mounting Bracket (M/N 14C209) and a Reversing Contactor
(M/N 14C217 or 14C218) must be installed.
•3 to 5 HP MinPak Plus drives: A Reversing Contactor (M/N 14C217 or 14C218) must be installed.
•FlexPak Plus drives: A Reversing Contactor (M/N 14C293) must be installed.
The Automatic Reversing kit is a printed circuit board assembly with a fixed wire harness. The kit mounts on
the drive’s auxiliary mounting bracket. No other mounting hardware is required. The contents of the Automatic
Reversing kit are listed in table 1.
!ATTENTION:Only qualified electrical personnel familiar with the construction and operation of
this equipment and the hazards involved should install, adjust, operate, and/or service this
equipment. Read and understand this manual and other applicable manuals in their entirety
before proceeding. Failure to observe this precaution could result in severe bodily injury or loss
of life.
ATTENTION:The Automatic Reversing kit contains static-sensitive components. Do not touch
the components or connectors on the printed circuit board. When not installed, the contents of
the kit should be stored in an anti-static bag. Failure to observe this precaution could result in
damage to, or destruction of, the equipment.

Installing the Automatic Reversing Kit
Refer to your drive instruction manual for help locating and identifying drive components. To install the
Automatic Reversing kit in your FlexPak Plus or MinPak Plus non-regenerative DC drive:
Step 1. Disconnect, lock out, and tag input power to the drive.
Step 2. Remove the drive cover.
Step 3. Verify that no voltage is present at the drive’s AC input terminals, L1 and L2.
Step 4. Mount the Automatic Reversing kit on the right side of the Auxiliary Mounting Bracket. Orient the kit so
that the wiring harness points down toward the Regulator board. Press the four nylon pins on the kit
firmly into the mounting holes in the bracket.
Step 5. Connect the Automatic Reversing kit’s three-wire harness connector to the three pins labeled “AUTO
REV.” These pins are near the upper left corner of the drive’s Regulator board, to the right of the
connector for the Auxiliary M-Contactor. Connect the purple wire (40) to the pin marked “PUR”. Press
the connector onto the pins.
Step 6. Reattach the cover to the drive.
Step 7. Apply power and test the operation of the drive.
This completes installation of the Automatic Reversing kit.
!ATTENTION:Do not install modification kits with power applied to the drive. Disconnect, lock
out, and tag all sources of incoming AC power to the drive before attempting such installation.
Verify that no voltage is present at the drive’s AC input terminals, L1 and L2. Failure to observe
this precaution could result in severe bodily injury or loss of life.
ATTENTION:The user is responsible for conforming with all applicable local, national, and
international codes. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to, or destruction
of, the equipment.
ATTENTION:This kit contains ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) sensitive parts and assemblies.
Static control precautions are required when installing, testing, servicing, or repairing this
assembly. Failure to observe these precautions could result in damage to, or destruction of, the
equipment.
