Minimize Chemical Drift
The Windfoil sprayerhasbeen designedinwind tunnelsto controlairflowaroundand behindthesprayerto minimize
drift, allowingsafe sprayinginwindyconditions. Drift can blowoff a field afterithasbeen sprayed, especiallyin high
winds.Reasonable caution should betaken, in ordertosprayeffectivelyand safely. Formaximumdriftcontrol, keepcur-
tainincontactwith the canopyto ensurea seal to it.
Nozzles
The FY325 and FY425 areequipped with 80ºspraytipsrespectively, spaced at 16”. Tipsare mounted with self-aligning
¼turn capsforeasyremovalorchange.
TroubleShooting
Ifdripping occurs, caused bythe diaphragmnot seating properly, the diaphragmmaybe hard, cracked, orthe seating
maybe damaged.
Cleaning
Sprayers need to be cleaned to prevent corrosion, to prevent cross contamination ofchemicals, and to prevent anygrit
orsolidsintheliquid that will reducepressure. Flushwith clean water, preferablyaftereach day’soperation. Rinse the
outside ofthesprayer.
Winterizing
Afterthe sprayeristhoroughlycleaned, put 2 to 5quartsofrust inhibitororantifreezeinthetankforfinalsystemflushing
to helppreventcorrosion.
Calibration
To calibrate, operatethesprayerat the desired pressure. Collect theoutput fromeach nozzlefor60 seconds, using an
accurate
measuring cup. Record the output fromeach nozzle. Replace nozzlesthatare more than5%aboveorbelowthe aver-
age reading,orhave a visiblydistorted spraypattern.
Run aspeed testin the area to be sprayed, with a full tank. The sprayermust be at operating speed before startingthe
test run. To determine the speed, markoffa distance asfound on oneofthe tablesbelow. Spraythisdistance, carefully
noting and recording the time to coverthedistance. The actualspeedcan be found forthe specificdistancetraveledand
time to travel,using the table.
